  1. I don't understand all the concern. Its not like he isn't aware. Its his choice. If he wasn't aware then educating him would be the correct thing to do. As long as he doesn't hurt anyone else who cares. I think the golf clapping was quite appropriate. Skygodding on about it won't change anything. 2. My Montana pops record certificate is starting to fade. Time for a new one... Replying to: Re: Stall On Jump Run Emergency Procedure? by billvon If the plane is unrecoverable then exiting is a very very good idea.
  3. Count me in. Vacation scheduled, airline ticket bought. Let the countdown begin... Replying to: Re: Stall On Jump Run Emergency Procedure? by billvon If the plane is unrecoverable then exiting is a very very good idea.
  4. I use the 45 degree rule all the time. It works perfectly. If its 45 degrees or colder I don't jump. Replying to: Re: Stall On Jump Run Emergency Procedure? by billvon If the plane is unrecoverable then exiting is a very very good idea.
  5. Nope, its priceless... Replying to: Re: Stall On Jump Run Emergency Procedure? by billvon If the plane is unrecoverable then exiting is a very very good idea.
  6. No one has asked to see my log book since I applied for my "D" awhile back. Replying to: Re: Stall On Jump Run Emergency Procedure? by billvon If the plane is unrecoverable then exiting is a very very good idea.
  7. That's sort of how I feel...About more people being killed by other people running into them. That's where the focus should be. If someone wants to do stupid stuff under a small canopy and their own risk assessment doesn't make them think twice, so be it. If they get a motorcycle learners permit and then buy a high performance sport bike nobody stops them. 8. Just wondering where the "in 99 percent of the cases" number comes from.... Replying to: Re: Stall On Jump Run Emergency Procedure? by billvon If the plane is unrecoverable then exiting is a very very good idea.
  9. With a lease or a loan you'll probably have to insure it for skydiving ops. Last time I checked Falcon was the only game in town and it was 6 grand a year. Thats a lot of loads just for that nut. Replying to: Re: Stall On Jump Run Emergency Procedure? by billvon If the plane is unrecoverable then exiting is a very very good idea.
  10. With a 182 it would be 8 jumpers per hour@ $25 or $200 per hour which is break even. There really is no money to be made with a non turbine aircraft. You would have to charge $35 a slot to make any kind of a profit. It's sort of like a tandem rig. It's a tool used to make money from something else. 11. Best AAD? The one that saves your life when you need it to. Replying to: Re: Stall On Jump Run Emergency Procedure? by billvon If the plane is unrecoverable then exiting is a very very good idea.
  12. Invest in an engine analyzer. Ambient conditions vary so widely that a standard procedure doesn't work all the time. Replying to: Re: Stall On Jump Run Emergency Procedure? by billvon If the plane is unrecoverable then exiting is a very very good idea.
  13. Wow this thread took off like a students first attempt at tracking. Replying to: Re: Stall On Jump Run Emergency Procedure? by billvon If the plane is unrecoverable then exiting is a very very good idea.
  14. The pendulum has begun to swing back the other way. Going from 1.4 wl on a pilot to 1.1 on the pulse. Replying to: Re: Stall On Jump Run Emergency Procedure? by billvon If the plane is unrecoverable then exiting is a very very good idea.
  15. Good, bad? Replying to: Re: Stall On Jump Run Emergency Procedure? by billvon If the plane is unrecoverable then exiting is a very very good idea.
  16. Can't seem to find the dates for this year. Need to put in for time off. Little help please... Replying to: Re: Stall On Jump Run Emergency Procedure? by billvon If the plane is unrecoverable then exiting is a very very good idea.
  17. Dug out my log books to look for the STC for my 56 182 and what I found was that the door/step mod was done on a 337 field approval. I have an STC from uspa for the removal of the front and rear seat and baggage shelf, and installation of floor level seat belt brackets to accommodate four occupants in addition to the pilot. I'm not sure there ever was an stc for the door, at least I've never seen one. I have also heard the feds won't do a field approval for the door without "engineering data" from a desiginated engineer. Don't know if this is true or not. 18. , Don't hold your breath. You'll turn blue. There won't be any new BSR's until USPA members elect BOD members who are willing to do what's right for the sport today and into the future, not just continue doing what was right for the sport 20 years ago... They haven't done a whole lot where people have been being killed right and left by people doing high performance landings, so why should they care if some kid wants to take himself and his buddy out... at least they bring it on themselves. 19. Nope. 9-12-2001 thru 9-19-2001 at least in the US Replying to: Re: Stall On Jump Run Emergency Procedure? by billvon If the plane is unrecoverable then exiting is a very very good idea.
  20. When did ZPX hit the market? Highest number of jumps on a ZPX canopy? Replying to: Re: Stall On Jump Run Emergency Procedure? by billvon If the plane is unrecoverable then exiting is a very very good idea.
  21. The first time I did my wifes Micron with the skyhook I was a little confused with the cable routing for the collins lanyard. Manual didn't have anything about it except in the reserve repack section. The maintenance and care section 6 refers you to section 5 and neither of those sections refer to the proper cable routing. So if you don't know and pull the cut away for maintence you could route the cable outside the lanyard. Mini rant over. 22. I agree. Now see how long it is till there is some more jibberish in the cooper thread that bumps this down... Replying to: Re: Stall On Jump Run Emergency Procedure? by billvon If the plane is unrecoverable then exiting is a very very good idea.
