  11. I believe it's well within Dan's right to give out as much or little data on his product as he so desires. It definitely does NOT hurt us in anyway to be as well informed on this process as we can be, so worst case scenario is that we have excess material. As for the claims about him bashing other companies: He's never once called those companies out by name. How is his tactic any different than the leading toothpaste brand boasting a 94% better whitening ability than the markets "leading brand"? It's not... Yet you don't write the television stations complaining about all the commercials being played in the middle of your movies... Chill out already... If you don't like it, don't read it. But alas, it is also well within each of your rights to complain about things like this so I guess I have no room to talk either... "pull high! It's lower than you think..."

  14. No problem at all... I don't mind taking responsibility when I'm in the wrong... We did plan the dive on the ground and were all on the same page... We exited in a hd flower and were to keep that unless it became unstable or spun. When we started spinning we all made eye contact and released into our sits... It was at this time that I got out of position. Luckily I saw the collision coming just before impact and managed to begin standing just a split second before we hit so it minimized the contact... I don't feel like it was a lack of prep that caused this, just one of those things ya know... "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  15. Just wanted to remind everyone out there to always be prepared for anything! Sunday brought with it a new first for me (and hopefully a last!). Last jump of the day. I went out on a 3 way freefly jump to bring the weekend to a close... It was tons of fun until about halfway through the dive. Myself and another guy were orbiting the base. I admit I screwed up by getting around behind the other "orbiter", but shit happens and that's why I'm telling the story. So anyway, I find myself behind this guy and I'm trying to reposition myself back in front of him. As I'm approaching the base from behind him at a 45 degree angle off his right shoulder (behind) he went to go into a stand for whatever reason. I was still driving a little forward and was literally about a foot below him when he began to accelerate. Since I was in a sit and he was going into a stand the collision took place right at my knee driving it very uncomfortably into his right butt cheek! This knocked him a little sideways and caused me to go a little unstable for a second. After the impact he immediately rotated around and I saw that he was okay and he saw that I was okay so we gave a thumbs up and finished the dive. I know what you're thinking, "big deal, you bumped a little". Well, that's what I thought too until today. My entire knee is black and purple and has stiffened up a bit. I think the adrenaline masked the pain a bit more than I anticipated at first. I'm sure it's just bruised and all, but the moral is this: In a distance of approximately one foot, he accelerated fast enough to impact my knee hard enough to create a fair amount of damage. One foot people... In this case it worked out that noone was seriously injured and everyone landed safely, but think about how little it would've taken to turn out much worse. What if he was head down and impacted with his face or head? Or that distance was three feet...maybe four... I guess I was just reminded that even on those harmless sunset jumps to end an event free weekend, no especially on those jumps, always be aware and be careful. It only takes a fraction of a second to go from a fun experience to a life altering one... "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  16. Dude, I just got laid off with a 6 week severance from my job... I've actually made more money in the past week than I normally do in a month and a half of normal salary... "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  17. I'm not going to go off here, but I will say this: Over the past 10 years I've noticed a very drastic decline in customer service in general. Not just in skydiving, but all customer oriented companies... Sorry about your luck... "pull high! It's lower than you think..."

  22. That's kind of scary! I'm glad everything worked out okay for him... So just a quick question since I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer: Was his radio NOT capable of two-way communication? It seems to me that may have helped a bit... could you imagine coming in for a landing completely blind??? What a rush! "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  23. Just having come from a relationship where I was 7 years younger than the woman in the relationship, I feel very confident in saying this: It's not so much the chronological difference that cannot be worked around. It's all about where each person is in their lives and whether or not they share common interests and goals. For us the problem was that she was prepared to be married and I was not. "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  24. Freeflier, I remember you getting all kinds of negative reactions to your decision as well, yet things seem to be working out okay. I guess we'll just have to see how this one works out eh... "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  25. I feel ya my friend. It's tough to know when you've "really" actually crossed the line and when it's simply an overzealous opinion of someone who's extremely conservative. However, in "their" defense, I'm fairly certain that with most of them the concern is sincere and directly aimed at the well being of all who participate in our sport. So, when it's for that reason, the advice, warnings, and other posted placards and signs are well received by myself and I do fully appreciate and take it into consideration before practicing my right to chose. I too want nothing more than to keep myself safe. But, this is and always will be an individual sport. We must be responsible for ourselves and must take into consideration the ways our decisions affect those around us in order to preserve safety in principle and as a policy. Which is exactly the way I'll make this decision. I'll seek out knowledge and wisdom from those who have it to offer and then couple that with performance evaluations to make the best possible decision I can for myself. If after all that, those performing the evaluation, in addition to my comfort level with the canopy, still combine in a "not ready" result, I'll tuck it away for a time in which I can safely enjoy it's added performance.
