  1. I worked at Cedar Point three summers as a ride op during college and NOTHING i experienced there can come close to matching the rush I get skydiving (and we did some pretty dumb things on those rides...). Same with the Ripcord "ride" they have. Maybe I am jaded after from working at an amusement park, but they just seem so lame compared to "jumping out of a perfectly good airplane"!
  2. Quotes that make me laugh now: Walking in from my first aff jump: instructor-you have a boyfriend? Me- no, why? (thinking he may be flirting...) Instructor-good, cause if you are doing this for real, and he doesnt jump, you can kiss him goodbye. Just before door opens for my A license checkdive, had a friend/another student earlier in the day not flare and get hurt pretty bad. Instructor (same one that jumped with her) turns to me as we are getting to altitude, dead serious: 'Promise me you will FLARE! I don't care what else you do, just flare... Pulling would be good too.'
  3. I thought this thread was supposed to be about telling who you would like to bang, not telling/trying to convince everyone that they should want to bang you...
  4. Wow... Nice thread! I'm sad I wasn't around for that. Thanks for the, ummmm, 'bedtime reading'... . Looks like I have some catching up to do!
  5. When i got my new altis off of here, I asked one of the TI's at my DZ to jump with them a few times along with their normal alti to verify for me before I jumped with them. The TI didn't mind at all and did 3 tandems with it on and said it looked good to him. I don't know if that was really necessary, but it made me feel better!
  6. This accident was caused by a 'no flare'.
  7. Hey soul twin! You rock and i'm glad you are checking it out on here! so many great people, lots of advice and opinions too (remember to always take with a grain of salt...) Can't wait for summer and to see you back in action
  8. Those are incredible! I freaking love 'rex', my fav so far!!
  9. i'm guessing you are from michigan because this was on 89x yesterday morning! Gotta love dave and chuck
  10. We tried to encourage you to stay home! Or at least call in and be late
  11. Also true stories: 1. Mutual friend introduced us: He stole my credit card from my wallet and replaced it with a different stolen credit card. Hello felony charges... 2. Friend set me up with her hubby's bro: Italian version of George Castanza who entertained me with how he picks on the mentally challenged guy at work, lives at home in his mom's basement (35y/o) and works part time at ups so he doesn't have to move out. Night could not end fast enough.
  12. No questions about it, my "Gear Fund" savings account so that I can afford the rig i ordered and quit working three jobs to come up with the $! No matter, it will be worth it come spring!
  13. Ok Mr. theonlyski A. Stalking requires first a level of EFFORT by the stalker, and usually some level of sneakiness/creepiness (granted I am a lil off...) B. YOU LIKE IT! C. You made it wayyyyyyy too easy, can you blame me?
  14. Don't worry, I am not too stressed about it , just sharing my experience with it. Thats great that things worked out for you like that! congrats! I'm having fun playing on here as I wait for winter to come and go. At least I am making new friends!!!
  15. "Very nice girls I don't trust....but then again very nice girls tend to be larger than a size 6 and that just doesn't work for me." WOW! lol, so either I'm nice and fat, or bitchy and skinny? I didn't realized that people had so few options on body type/personality in this world. Glad to know I don't fit the mold.
  16. Shah, I am not a shy person. I have let guys know I like them, even asked them out. I don't have turrets, am not a complete crazy person, and I have never had it work out in my favor. Guys like the chase, they like what they can't have. I have never had taking the initiative as far as approaching a guy work out for me. I have watched friends who are complete bitches to guys, walk all over them, and use them, they have men line up to take them out. I don't expect to be waited on hand and foot, and cmon, even you proposed to me on my first post here! I can't be all that terrible!
  17. And how many of these half decent guys are actually willing to ask one of these girls out?
  18. and modest! don't forget how modest you are Shah!
  19. Nah. It's that most women who skydive have at least a little bit of self esteem. AWESOME!
  20. Being pretty freaking new to all this (started at the end of August) I told myself I wasn't allowed to even think about trying to date a guy at my DZ until next year. Yes, most skydiving guys are very good looking, and obviously we have at least one very big thing in common (enjoying skydiving that is, not big balls, at least last time i checked i didn't have any... ), but I didn't want to be "that girl". The problem with dating another skydiver is the DZ drama during the relationship/if a breakup occurs (assuming we share the same home DZ). I'm not a big fan of all that crapt, and I like my DZ, so it is def a consideration as to if it is worth getting involved with someone. As far as whuffos, I have noticed that a lot of guys who meet me think it is cool, but thats as far as it goes. There is def an intimidation factor. Most female skydivers are probably used to it as we all seem to have a lot of the personality traits that come across as intimidating, but then throw skydiving into the mix, and it seems that a guy doesn't quite look at you the same ever again. I've had things seem like they were going well with a whuffo, then have the interest disappear when they find out about the skydiving. That being said, I do think I will (and would like to!) end up with another skydiver. I love the sport too much and think I am going to end up spending entirely too much time and money on it for anyone other than another skydiver will tolerate. Will see what happens when next season hits and I get to spend an entire season there! Advice for guys who want a skydiver girl, wait until there is one at the DZ you actually really like as opposed to trying to sleep with the new ones that come and go. Guys get DZ reps as much as the girls do!
  21. Hi Christian! My name is Cat and I live just west of detroit. I got into skydiving this summer/fall and ended up getting my A License at the end of October. There are a few dropzones in out area and I jump out of Skydive Tecumseh (just south of Ann Arbor). Midwest Freefall is also out in Shelby Township area I believe (I haven't been there, yet). I did a Tandem jump first and I came back and signed up for the AFF (accelerated freefall) class offered at Tecumseh two weeks later. Tecumseh offers AFF training and IAD (which is a static line progression I believe). Both have their benefits, and the skydive tecumseh website has some really good information on all of it. I chose AFF because from your first jump, you are jumping from full altitude with two instructors, get approx. a minute of freefall, and pulling your own pilot. It is a bit more expensive for student progession than the IAD program, but I had nothing but good experiences with the staff and at the dropzone. PM if you would like to talk more in depth about my experience or get any more info. I hope this helps a little, and if I can answer anything else for you (keep in mind, I am barely off student status...) I'd be happy to try to help! Just FYI... we are closed for the winter and reopen April 1st!
  22. I ran shirtless with the cookie monster because i'm sexy like that
  23. Keep us posted! If donations are needed, I'm in. I don't have a lot, but I will give what I can.
  24. I am new to this sport and I have to say how proud I am to be a part of this family. It is amazing how quickly all of you jumped on this and are willing to do whatever it takes to make this girls wishes come true. Thank you for showing me what a wonderful group I am becoming a part of. You guys rock!
