“California’s once-thriving residential solar industry is in ruins after state officials slashed rooftop solar incentives…That decision has now led to the loss of over 17,000 solar jobs in California, says a new analysis by the California Solar and Storage Association”

This is what happens when you take the training wheels off.

"California’s landmark residential solar initiative has been held up as one of the most ambitious and effective government policies ever adopted to stave off the worst impacts of the climate crisis in the U.S., considering the state’s outsize footprint in the global economy."

Leads to:

"But the California Public Utilities Commission, or CPUC, bowed to demands from Pacific Gas & Electric, Southern California Edison and San Diego Gas & Electric to roll back those incentives."

This is what happens when you let greedy utilities set policy.

Fixed it for you there.  Yes, greed and shortsightedness causes lost jobs for Americans, but more yachts for executives.  So you should support it!

I’m sure those executives were at COP 28 and attended the seminar on sustainable yachting.  BTW isn’t California run by a super majority of Democrats?  The greedy executives could only get what they wanted if the greedy politicians and bureaucrats got theirs as well.

See, unless one is a bit of a right wing kook and believe that all Democrats are socialists or communists, most people understand Democrats also believe in capitalism. Which obviously makes the quoted statement rather...weird.

So it is Democrats who are greedy short sighted capitalists bent on the destruction of the planet?

Because, after all, Sweden and Denmark are such hellholes, and we just can’t wait to get rid of Medicare and Social Security.

You could sponsor a poorhouse, and start a new trend.

It could simply be that people are getting sick & tired of seeing the results of unrestricted capitalism.

Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, that 'super successful' businessman Trumpty Dumpty.

And don't forget that the ENTIRE Republican party has sold out to them.

Including the 'conservatives' on the Supreme Court.

“Nordic countries are often used internationally to prove that socialism works… their policies aren’t in fact socialist…Today, the Nordic social democrats have adopted stricter immigration policies, tightened eligibility requirements for welfare benefit systems, taken a tougher stance on crime, and carried out business-friendly policies.”

Stricter immigration, tightened welfare requirements, tougher on crime and pro business???  Sounds like Republicans to me.

Big Oil Increased Layoffs In 2021 (bailoutwatch.org) - plus oil laid off some 100,000 workers during the pandemic.  Only a small percentage has been rehired.

Chairman Press | Chairman's Newsroom | Chairman | U.S. Senate Committee On The Budget - big oil still receives tens of billions every year in subsidies.

Sounds like they are a total failure by your standard.

well at least you admit that under the Democrats and Biden, gas and oil expansion is not under ANY threat and is in fact, expanding.

And so are renewable energy projects across the country.  You managed to find a tidbit to claim a 'disaster'.

More than a tidbit

“Just over seven months ago, the Gov. Gavin Newsom-appointed California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) made drast reductions to Net Energy Metering…17,000 jobs have or will be lost by the end of 2023 due the recent net metering changes. The massive job loss represents 22% of all solar jobs in California.”

https://www.solarpowerworldonline.com/2023/12/calssa-california-to-lose-22-of-solar-jobs-by-end-of-year/

So much for those “good paying green jobs”

Not all but definitely most.

Having a positive image of socialism doesn't make one a socialist...in stead of an MBA maybe a course in logic would have been a bit more beneficial.

actually ONLY a tidbit.... you have so far only pointed to CA, and ignored the massive expansion of jobs across the country. DOE Report Finds Clean Energy Jobs Grew in Every State In 2022 | Department of Energy

Texas is the largest wind generating state in the country, so even deep red republican trump-supporting anti-woke, patriotic Tax-azz is going green - Wind Power: Energy is Good for Texas.

Florida has doubled solar power in just 2-3 years and is expanding like mad.

So yeah.... tidbits.

Poor ol' BH is striking out hard today.

Maybe we will see Hunter's laptop again real soon!  That's always good for a distraction when you're losing.

Using the word "socialism" is pointless in a political discussion;

To the left, it means "social safety nets".

To the right, it means "command economy", e.g. as in the Soviet Union.

And there will never be an intelligent discussion when the two sides are operating with entirely different definitions of the word.

agreeing on the most fundamental basic truths has been a problem since Trump starting talking in 2015, but goes back as far as Newt Gingrich.

Not to be Mr. Obvious here but sometimes I wonder if it actually has to be said to get the point across. This (the OP narrative) isn't a D or R issue. It is a corruption issue and BOTH parties are corrupt. The loss of jobs probably has more to do with the changes in Net Metering than any outright subsidy given by the government/taxpayers.
