Failing its most fundamental job

Recommended Posts

Matt Gaetz says he has 60 Republicans ready to vote with him.

Just imagine going to work and choosing to be part of a project led by Matt Gaetz. Thinking: that guy right there, he’s my Captain. Matt Gaetz. Wow.

60 out of 221?  I'm not impressed.

Rep. Gaetz introduces resolution to oust House Speaker McCarthy from his position, setting up showdown within 48 hours.

The Clown Show continues.

Hi John,

As it does:  Kevin McCarthy becomes first speaker removed by House vote : NPR

It is going to be a real Clown Show now.

Anyone want the job, I hear that the pay is pretty good.

Personally, I think the dog just caught the car he was barking at and chasing. I don’t think they have a viable plan, and some of the grownups may eventually convince them there’s an actual country here, not just political expedience.

But I may be too hopeful

But it’s OK; I just overtipped a waiter and a batucada band

It was a mistake for the Democrats not to support McCarthy;

He finally learned to reach across the aisle to get things done;

His replacement may not be so cooperative.

Hi Robert,

I was reading earlier today* that some Dem get-together was held last nite & they invited McCarthy to attend to discuss working together.  He failed to show up.

*  Sorry, do not remember where I read it.

Right.

He had ample opportunity to 'reach across' during the run up to the shut down, but waited until the last possible moment to do so.

That 'reaching across' is what cost him his job.

He also pretended that the Ds wanted to shut down the government and said as much in an interview last Sunday on "Face the Nation".
That's one of the reasons no Ds voted to keep him in place.

He is a Trump stooge.
Good fucking riddance.

He could not and would not be able to do that in the current House. He had nothing to offer the other side.

Hell, just keeping him in there to drive the Lunatic Frings crazy, would have been worth it!

What happens now? The lunatic fringe still won't get it's way. But it still holds a few critical votes. There can only be a deal with the other side if the other side gets something from it. Stalemate.

When it is Gingrich v Gaetz, who the hell do you support???

Fox: Gingrich says House GOP should expel ‘anti-Republican’ Gaetz

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) on Tuesday called on House Republicans to expel Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) and defeat his motion to oust Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) from his post.

In even more odious news from our Republican Congress, the President Pro Tempore, interim Speaker Patrick McHenry evicted Nancy Pelosi from a small extra office space effective immediately. And, yes, he did it while she was away bringing the body of her friend Dianne Feinstein home to California. Such a lovely lot of caring Americans they are.
