Yet no-one outside of Northern Ireland mention it and it doesn't make any national UK newspapers. Where are all the Catholics protesting about this?

(Of course no one gives a shit because they aren't Muslims)

Catholics call for ban on police wearing poppies on remembrance day
describing it as “repugnant and offensive”.

Oh, I think contempt for the Cat'lics in Ulster is rather a given. When they behave in an an ill-mannered fashion, it is usually not even worth the ink to report.

Muslims, OTOH, are a more recent infestation; while Catholicism is a chronic ailment, Islam is particularly virulent and notably more acute.

Catholics burn poppies....Where is the outcry???

Whether it's Catholics, Christians, or Muslims...I think the radicals burning poppies, books, whatever is a large improvement to what they have burned in the past...

This is good news...we should be rejoicing, not out crying about it.

Edit
the bottom line is this...if they don't want it...if they don't get it...if they don't remember...if they don't want to believe, who cares? There is nothing we can do. I don't want their respect, nor force them to do so. What's the point of having a world fool of basely converts?

its a bit of a non issue, as you are irish i assume you agree that this is nothing like a majority of people but an ignorant few?

the people who support the likes of celtic because its a 'catholic team' and who take offense to a flower that is meant to honor the dead(even irish dead) are the type of people who dont deserve any air time at all

most people in the north are moving on form their prejudices and divides and will continue to do so despite this ignorant minority. im catholic according to my birth cert and from the south and i couldnt care less what the brits were to commemorate their past, just like i couldnt care less about what their goverment says about any issue that is not related to ireland and jsut like i dont care about anything got to do with their monarchy

as far as muslims are concerned, the islamic terrorists are a threat to the entire world, the catholic v protestant problems are only a risk to ireland, northern ireland and britain. also its in its descendency(is that a word???) one more genreation and it will be a very very few die hards keeping the ignorance going, two and it will be gone (and more then likely the north will be part of the republic or at least its own independant country). islamic fundamentalism appears to be in the ascendancy so it gets more attention

True, but as DARK quite rightly said, the vast majority don't care about it its just a few, my point is that its the same for Muslims, just a few idiots burning poppies not representative of anyone but themselves.

That's exactly the issue.

It is always the unreasoning and unreasonable loud screams of the few that drown out the many that are willing to discuss it rationally or just dont care.

Extremists, warmongers, shit stirrers, trolls, they are all the same, and it doesnt matter what side they are on either as EVERY side in every argument has them.

Unfortunately the squeaky wheel tends to get the oil and in many countries right now the uproar created by these small groups is impacting policy for everyone.

How many hands have Cotholics chopped off in the past 30 years?, How many Beheadings? , how many innocent people killed in the damn of Jesus?

How many have they blown up or knee capped in Northern Ireland?

As always, it's more complex that than.

BUT .. fanatics (of all flavours) have been around for so long even THEY don't know (or possibly care) about the root cause.

But to think that it's only Muslim-based (?) nuters that are engaging in criminal activity is to be somewhat blinkered.

I did a bit of digging and it appears that in Ireland (and in the Six Counties in particular) this is an issue largely because the poppies are sold as a fundraiser by the British legion, and the money could potentially go to support British soldiers who participated in Bloody Sunday.

Do you have any idea how many soldiers in the British Army are Irish? The last soldier to die in Afghanistan on Sunday was from the Royal Irish Regiment. Recruitment from the Republic of Ireland into the British Army has increased four fold in the last two years. How many tens of thousands of Irishmen died in WWI? How many more in WWII?
And how many soldiers took part in Bloody Sunday? That argument is a nonsense spouted by republicans clutching at straws.
