preparing themselves to join the war on terrorism.

Has this phrase been worn out yet? War on terror?
9/11 happened over 4 years ago. President Bush is still using this to justify every single dirty job we embark in the Middle East.

This is just getting out of hand and needs to stop.

1) They're foreign troops, not U.S. troops being trained there.

2) This was written by journalists, not Washington.

3) Has OBL been found yet?

This thread and this forum are about skydiving. Please don't hijack this thread, and please take any conversations of this sort to Speakers Corner. That forum is designed for these topics.

Thanks.

Thank you. That's why I put it here instead of SC.

Apparently us Brits are also sending our SAS out to the States to do almost all their training with the US special forces. Apparently according to newspaper reports here there is a marked reluctance by the RAF to provide the specialist training required!

All that flying and jumping cuts into time that the RAF would rather spend golfing.

Ummm - have you ever visited a USN or USAF base? The golf course is usually the central feature, right by the senior officers' housing.

When the Army builds a base, they start with the motorpools and gunnery ranges... housing and MWR stuff is last, so if money is short, so are those facilities.

When the Air Force builds a base, the go the other way around... start with housing and MWR stuff, finish with hangers and runways... if money runs short, they go ask for more... and they get it... after all, you can't have an airforce base without a runway.

Oops! Your hypocrisy is showing. Seems to me that this thread was "hijacked" from its inception:S

Other than the fact that the press release mentions Eloy and skydiving, the PR piece--and the follow-up comments--are little more than political cheerleading and DO NOT BELONG on this thread. Let's keep all the pro-war/military cheerleading and the "war on terror" fantasy stuff where it belongs: in the bonfire or speakers corner!

Were I'm from folks who call moderators hypocrites usually get to take a break from the forums for a little bit. I guess we'll see.

Where I'm from, folks make an honest comment or decide not to participate. They also stay out of the moderator's business.

While at Skydive Arizona, the troops go from a zero license to a B license, with 100 jumps required.

Guess you may have missed that part in the article.[:/]

The entries that caused this thread to be moved to Speaker's Corner are only a bunch of noise. This thread started with good intent, in General Skydiving and I wish it would have stayed there....with these unnecessary posts just being erased.

Man, you go and try and say something nice about a wonderful place like Skydive AZ and someone just can't see the positive and how Larry Hill is doing something good. :S

he promised 'War without end' and thats what you've got. Unfortunatly it also is what the majority of your fellow countrymen want, if noy he wouldn't have been (re)-elected.

Lori,
You did say a lot nice and ...thanks!
What can I say...some people's children!!
I'm not going to debate with folks on issues of the war.
I will however stand here and say that the men that came here to learn to skydive were soldiers, but more than that they were good decent people.(I don't offer that lightly)
It is an honor and priveledge to know them.
According to their instructors, they wish all of their students were as easy and well prepared.;)
Eloy has been working with military folks globally for years, as does Deland as well as others. Its nothing new... it just happened to make news in a small paper out in the middle of the desert.:)

We're not worried about him any more. We don't really care where he is. We've moved on to easier targets.

Perhaps our finite resources are better spent going after those who are doing the killing than after the figurehead of the organization. I think it's a safe bet that we'll never OBL himself out on the front lines of any terrorist activity .

Please don't misquote the President. What he said was:

"I don't know where bin Laden is. I have no idea and really don't care. It's not that important. It's not our priority. I am truly not that concerned about him.""
