sarge 0 #3 May 16, 2003 Screw them!!! The oldest trick in the book... you take your car in [something simple] winshield wiper motor...Then they say, "Oh, did you notice this oild leaking from your head gasket?" "You need a new motor" but... "Lucky you! we just happen to have one in stock we can give you a great deal on!" Although... I havent seen your tires or brakes either...? -- I'm done with the personally meaningful and philosophical sigs!!

skybytch 259 #11 May 16, 2003 Depends on what kind of tires she's looking at and what's needed for the brakes... My kid expects to spend $150 per tire to replace the ones he has now; I've heard other people say they've spent as much as $250 per tire. It's times like that I'm glad I spent 10+ years working at my dad's gas station.... ain't no way a disreputable shop/mechanic is gonna rip me off! My boss showed me a recipt for a replacment tire on his beemer. $430, i told him he could of got 4 other tires of the same size but a different brand for that price. I bet liz could get a nice tire for her accura for under a $100.
moodyskydiver 0 #16 May 16, 2003 Tell me about it! Had a crack as long as my arm in the windshield of my truck.Been riding around with it for about 4 or 5 months.Decided to finally get it replaced today. So I go pick up my truck, pay $200 for my new windshield and go home.6 hours later today we have a bad storm w/ softball sized hail and now my new windshield is completely shattered and on the verg of caving in completely...the storm isnt even over yet either.I'm afraid to look at the rest of my damaged truck.
