YOU KNOW YOU GREW UP IN THE 80's or early 90's IF-

Recommended Posts

They would take you to the Library to play and educational video game on an Apple IIe. Oregon Trail was a game where you tried to make the journey from St Louis to the west coast on the trail.

It told you how many people were in your wagon trail, how much food and money you had, and then generated random encouters from indian attacks to bad weather and starvation...

I worked in a grocery store when that came out and I had to dress up in the Raphael turtle costume

I can't believe this thread has made it this far without:

Rubik's cube
New York laces

and let's not forget the historic cross-over hit. The first combo of rap and rock, the predecessor to bands like Korn, Limp Bizcuit, RHCP, etc.....

....Run DMC and Aerosmith doing Walk This Way.

teddy bear sweatshirts, or their predecessor, the ones worn off the shoulder and inside out, acid-washed jeans rolled tight at the ankle,

OOOH! The jeans rolled at the ankle. That was always such a pain in the ass, but it had to be done to be cool, right???!

In high school you were into movies like Pretty In Pink and The Breakfast Club, In junior high you listened to Cyndi Lauper and the "Material Girl". You wore lots of rhinestones or got heavily into making rhinestone clothing and shoes. In Elementary school you owned anything neon orange, pink, green or yellow in a skirt/outfit form and had jelly sandals and of course matching legwarmers, When you were real little your parents dressed you in corduroy to the hilt (especially the brown corduroy), You or your friends owned an Atari 2600 or Commodore 64 and Space Invaders, Donkey Kong and Ms. PacMan were "it", You recall the time when Star Wars and E.T. hit the box office. In grade school you said things like "Like Oh MY God" and "That is so totally Rad!"

The 80s were an interesting time. I still love the music from that era.

Oh, and if you were a girl, Strawberry Shortcake was the bomb. :P
Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires."

Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say."

Except that Red Hot Chili Peppers predates that remake by 2 years.

I totally remember the Jem cartoon. I even had the doll, but I eventually lost her Jem clothes. I think I still have her put away somewhere probably wearing a barbie doll wedding dress or something.

Technically, but their rap/rock sound and current lineup didn't really form until '90.

Now how many of you wore parachute pants?

Yea yea yea, I did. I think we were gonna have a retro night at the WFFC, parachute pants if you could find 'em. Whatever happened to that night?
