AggieDave 6 #1 October 9, 2003 Right now I'm drinking a Robert Mondavi Pinot Noir, I love Messena Hoff (a local Texas winery)...but then again, I can only afford up to about $20 every once in a while. So what do you like to drink (besides screw top wine and MD 20/20).--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Zenister 0 #5 October 9, 2003 actually Dave there is a very good screw top wine i've drunk the groc out of 3 times in the last 2 weeks... Ca de Solo -Big House Red.. about $9 most places and better, richer tasting than many $20 bottles i've had. Its a blend of several cali grapes... i'd also have to recommend 2 Brothers Big Tattoo Red.. another $9 bottle thats also a blend of grapes (from Chile this time) and another wine that we drank them out of while they restocked the Ca del Solo.... damn i've turned into such a lush since the redhead got here...____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. QuickDraw 0 #6 October 9, 2003 When i was in Greece a few years back a wine called Tsantali (white) was/is still my favorite. In fact i still have a bottle here for a special occasion. -- Hope you don't die. -- I'm fucking winning
JumpusPilotus 0 #7 October 9, 2003 Any Bordeux will do the job. They are bodied and can match almost any meal. Also, wines from the region of Cahors, France are richer and darker. Not suggested for a begginer but Oh Man what a kick!!! ___________________________________________________________________________________________
chopchop 0 #8 October 9, 2003 Knob Creek! Oh.. wait.. that's whiskey.. Actually.. a neighbor of the Yellow Tail Shiraz is my fav... the Rosemont Estates Shiraz rocks.. Nightingale 0 #10 October 9, 2003 I was at a wine tasting a few weeks ago... tried a dessert wine that tasted like peach with a hint of pear... very good! very, very sweet, but very good. I also like a good chardonnay (sp?) or merlot.
skymama 35 #11 October 9, 2003 Quotethe Rosemont Estates Shiraz rocks.. Weird deja vu' moment....I was packing up my stuff in boxes last night, and that name was on one of the boxes I got from the liquor store. I was wondering if it was as good as Yellow Tail. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
ReLLiK75 0 #12 October 10, 2003 I used to think Rosemount was good stuff until I came to Australia. I was quickly corrected by the locals concerning my views on Rosemount. I'm not sure if it's available in the states, but when I get back home I'm going to check to see if we get Penfolds. That's probably one of the better commercial Australian wines. But generally, any wine you can find from western Australia is going to be pretty darn good. __________________________________________ Have you Got Flare? lawrocket 3 #15 October 10, 2003 Rabbit Ridge Zin is fantastic! A wonderful wine. Some of my other favorites: 1. Meridian wineries (Paso Robles) Sangiovese. Actually, all their stuff is good. 2. Try a DeLoach Zinfandel OFS (Out Fucking Standing) 3. Silver Oak Cabernet is always great. This is my base wine. At wine tasting, get some Silver Oak and when tasting, try to find a wine that is better. Very few do. The wine is always excellent. 4. Bonny-Doon Farms Clos de Gilroy. Fantastic, and a fun winery! I don't know shit about European or White wines, so that's the best I can do for now. My wife is hotter than your wife.

flyingferret 0 #22 October 10, 2003 nice thread. I like: Allan Scott Sauvignon Blanc (NZ) Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio (IT) $10 +-, but if they are good, why pay more.-- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.
Vertifly 0 #23 October 10, 2003 Chianti imported from Florence, Italy. Rooster on the label. A good Shiraz runs a close second. As for the California wines... Either a 96' or nothing.
