ltdiver 3 #1 June 6, 2003 Attended a friend's house warming last weekend where the favorite activity was the wine tasting. ). This wine tasting fun will occur monthy, with different varieties being the guest of honor. Since I'm new to the wine tasting event, I need some help here. 1) Next month is African wines. Any suggestions for me to take? 2) What is your overall favorite wine? (Looking to start my own collection with nothing but the best)... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

ltdiver 3 #10 June 6, 2003 Oh, btw, if you could also post -where- you've found these wonderful wines, it would help my search as well. I found the 2000 Frances Coppola Rosso at Trader Joe's. It's only $10 a bottle and for the price is a really great find! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

I actually prefer the cheaper stuff to the $40-$100+ stuff. $10 can get me just as buzzed as $100. and it tastes the same!

HUM...maybe we can hit a winery or three while I'm there. Shark you interrested? Anyone else out there wanta play? Just know I will not be the designated driver unless you want to wind up in Mexico cause I get VERY confused out there...nothing is in straight lines. -- Hot Mama At least you know where you stand even if it is in a pile of shit. dbattman 0 #21 June 6, 2003 Tecumseh has a bunch of wineries not too far from Perris. It's close enough that even you should be able to find your way back to the DZ As for myself, the darker, heavier, oaky vintages are my favorites. Something with lots of body that just screams "WINE WINE WINE." I've never been a fan of whites.

pyke 0 #23 June 6, 2003 S. African wineries, of late, are best at producing Pinotage varietals. Usually <$20 a bottle - so very reasonable for the taste, enjoyment value. Trader Joe's have great selections for the $8-$17/bottle range. Otherwise I would hunt in some of your "wine" stores for the stuff on the dusty shelves...usually the best place for very good finds that have been sitting around a while. Some wine sellers will even "haggle" a little to get it off their shelves - so don't be afraid to offer $15 for a $20 bottle....or so on. Good luck - and I only wish I could come too! I have 3 very nice bottles of Pinot Noir hand-carried from New Zealand (Marlborough) that would go great with EVERYTHING!!! Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr.
