AggieDave 6 #1 April 6, 2004 If I go with a non-western style tux for my wedding, would cowboy boots be out of line? I was thinking about saving up for a nice pair of custom Lucchese Boots for my wedding, but I don't really want to go with a "western" tux (black wranglers, tails, black stetson), but more of a traditional tux. Maybe I should have put this in the womens forum...--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
Gawain 0 #2 April 6, 2004 QuoteIf I go with a non-western style tux for my wedding, would cowboy boots be out of line? From a style perspective: Yes. From what you want to do and what your fiance thinks: Up to you. Certainly there are western style tuxes without the tails (dark gray, vest in lieu of cumberbund, etc.).So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! lawrocket 3 #4 April 6, 2004 The nature of the tuxedo is that it inherently is without tails. It was, in fact, the purpose for the design. I like the vest in lieu of cummerbund idea, though. My wife is hotter than your wife.
AggieDave 6 #5 April 6, 2004 Yeah, I've already decided NO to a cummerbund, definately a vest. Now that you mentioned that you're going to buy the tux, I would go pretty conservative. Those designs are more timeless, suitable for any occaision, but don't lend themselves to being very attractive with cowboy boots. I also suggest (if you can swing the $) is that you have a vest and cummerbund (not to wear at the same time, one may be better than the other for some occaisions). You don't want to look back 30 years from now and say, "what was I thinking!". Another thing, everyone is going to be looking at the bride, they don't care about the groom's feet!
