Best and most beautiful guitar solo EVER

my favorite is Stevie Ray Vaughn doing "Little Wing"

This "Little Wing"?

Ok, I must agree with you. I completely forgot about this song, and it is my favorite. He puts everything into this song; aggressive playing, yet such a gentle, feather-like touch at times. SRV certainly does kick ass and take names! David Gilmore is a close 2nd though...

Edited to add: Fixed the clicky.

My favorites?

1) Duane Allman and Dickey Betts in "Blue Sky."
2) Eric Clapton in "Badge."
3) Mark Knopfler in "Sultans of Swing."
4) Jimmy Page in "Ten Years Gone."
5) Elliot Randall in Steely Dan's "Reelin' in the Years.'
6) Ace Frehley in "100,000 Years."

and yes, Gilmore's solo in comfortably numb is pretty damned good.

I remember no whistle on the entire Frampton Comes Alive album, much less on the Winds of Change track.

:P

You just reminded me of this. Also amongst my favorites.

But why has no one mentioned Carlos Santana in this thread yet? His sound is so distinctive and beautiful on pretty much everything he does.

Agreed.

'Jessica' another Allman-Betts primo number!
'Amazing Grace' Ron Wood it'll send chills through you!
Just a couple of my favorites.

That whole album, 'Eat a Peach' by the Allman Brothers Band was pretty smoothe. :D

All Gil's work is nice but a little known fact....the lead on Comfortably Numb (cd version/Delicate Sound Of Thunder) was pieced together from several different concerts on the tour. Dave chose the best parts and they were inserted through editing....compare it with the DVD. I heard him say it in an interview, shortly after it was released. The DST version (DVD) is better than the Pulse tour version.

:| Wut....nobody ever hear of Wishbone Ash?!

Damn, that brought back memories. I was there. Well maybe not that venue, but that tour. I know I saw them twice in the last 15 years, but not sure if that was the last time or a couple years later. PF is still one of my all time favorite bands. If they toured again I'd gladly pay just about anything for a ticket.
