Our prime season was about 3-4 weeks ago when it was still warm...it is a little cooler now (a whopping 33 degrees this morning) so it hasn't been quite as bad. My pet peeve is where they hide right at where the speed limit changes.:|:|:|

I believe there is a buffer zone where the speed limit changes, but it's probably less than 1/4 mile. I'd fight any ticket given in a change over zone.

In Washington state they're having a "Seatbelt Crackdown".

Some of the cops are actually using night vision goggles to look into your car at night to see if you have your seatbelt on or not. And, yes, they can pull you over just for that and give you a ticket for $120 (I think it is).

While I don't think that there should be laws to protect people from their own bad choices, nor should there be punishments for them - BUCKLE UP PEOPLE!
If you can't laugh at yourself, I'll be happy to do it for you.

Here too man. In RI they have been out in insane numbers. Some one needs to commit some real crime.
I got a ticket for going 35 in a 25 on a road that has nothing but sod fields around it. but i am paying it as i was speeding.:|

While I think I'm such a great Libertarian kind of guy that doesn't interfere (isn't everyone, in their own opinion?), I like seatbelt laws. Darn it, they save lives, they are right there, and so many knuckleheads refust to wear them. If it takes the threat of a $100+ ticket to persuade them, so be it. It indirectly keeps my insurance rates lower.

I know there are a million arguments against my logic. Sorry, I just feel that way.

I don't.

Nor do I think for a second that speeding tickets are in the interest of public safety either. Generally, they are for revenue. That's obvious by the LOWERING of speed limits now that the municipalities are having cash flow issues...>:(

but anyway...I just wanted to remind everyone and give them a heads up!
might need that cash for strippers, beer, and weed you know!:D:D:D

Being an upstanding (but not very high:P) law abiding and good citizen. I just thought that it was my patriotic duty to point out that if one is going to be naughty on the road then one should not feel too bad about paying for the Police Christmas party ones fine.:P

I tried that with a Judge once. "The officer had to see me decelerating from 45 to the 35 speed limit since I was down to 39 when he clocked me" The Judge told me the sign is where that speed limit starts, so be decelerated by then. $75.00 + court costs
Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

Yep. The "buffer zone" is a myth. "Speed zone ahead" sign means what it says. "Speed limit XX" is what it is RIGHT THERE.

Will do. Thanks for the tip. Also, all you do when you get stopped for speeding is ask to see their laser gun and see if it's within calibration. If it isn't then you're free and clear, if it is then you pretty much just guaranteed yourself a ticket.
I'm completely in favor of the separation of Church and State. My idea is that these two institutions screw us up enough on their own, so both of them together is certain death.
