Military & Vets eat free

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks,

Some info that came in an email:

This appears to be legit! It might be worth checking out in your area.

I checked the link and looks to be real. All that's required is any proof of service including even just a photograph in uniform for Vets who did not retire from the service. So if you're a Vet or know one this is worth sharing. Nice of Applebee's to do this.

For additional details, visit: www.applebees.com/vetsday.

Please don't hesitate to contact Applebee's if you have any questions.

I looked up the link & it seems to be a real-deal,

That is a great marketing campaign for them.
This might be based on patriotism, but they will profit.
I still have my old Navy ID. I'll get lunch and maybe take some friends. :)

Be patient with the faults of others; they have to be patient with yours.

Think they'll except dog tags?

From the Web page:

"Valid Veteran and Active Duty Identification to Obtain Free Entree:

U.S. Uniform Services Identification Card
U.S. Uniform Services Retired Identification Card
Current Leave and Earnings Statement (LES)
Veterans Organization Card (i.e., American Legion and VFW)
Photograph in uniform
Wearing uniform"

I was surprised that a DD214 isn't listed.
Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

That is surprising. I have one pic of me in uniform but it's from a distance. Would probably work. Will bring a copy of my dd214 and dog tags just in case. B|

I can just see the Applebee's list of select entrees for vets:

Chipped Beef on Toast
Chili Mac
Tuna Noodle Bake
Hamburger Steak
Spaghetti and Meat Sauce

Military mainstays when I was in.:D:D

Military food was excellent while I was in. We even had steak and shrimp every Friday (real steak, not hamburger steak). I do remember one Friday we didn't get the shrimp and had to settle for lobster, though.

That's great! I wish more places would do this for our military and vets. Too bad our local Applebee's keeps getting shut down by the health department for various things. Maybe MREs would be a safer bet...:D

Yeah but in the 7th INF Div @ Ft Ord. we had steak and lobster every Wednesday for lunch for six months to make up for some wrong doing in the mess.

Damn was that good.

We had roast beast too, damn fine.

In Germany we had an excellent mess hall.

At Fort Sill the food was like dogshit.

Ft Dix was the same way.

Ft Gordon was tolerable, had nice 4th of July as well.

Ft Polk back then has some of the best and worst.

GLNTC- Chiefs mess and the club is nice.
(Great view of lake Michigan from the terrace)

Ft. Benning was tolerable.

Ft. Behning is the best of all.;):o:D

You all forgot the secrete sause: Tabasco:)
Ever see what that stuff will do to a copper penny.:P

In the spirit of full disclosure :)I was in the Air Force and never had to eat C-rats. The chicklets, can opener, cigs, & match's were enough to keep us going.:)
FWIW I'm tired hearing "Thank you for your Service" thats not enough the VA is still failing the majority of the vets that need them the most.

Tabasco sauce can keep you awake and your eyes moist for long time if you wipe your eyes with some late at night.
