It's a book about how technology changes lives and society, and discusses the unfortunate tendency of some people to "live their lives" on the Internet instead of out in the real world. One of the points it makes is that after a while people start to place more importance on what people on line say than on direct experience, which we see more and more often here.

And the thing that will really blow your mind is that it was written in 1909.
