Socially acceptable answers...

Let's say someone asks "how are you?"
And let's say things are going spectacularly SHIT.
What do you answer?

Discuss, elaborate, expand, et cetera. :)

Well, today out cycling, I stopped at a convenience store where they know me and when they asked I answered: "Well, I've only been hit by one car so far today!":D

Ah, Honey :S I hate to break it to you, but no one really wants to hear the real, "I've had a bitch of a day/week/month/year answer, so Eff off, bitch, you don't have a clue how bad it is!" answer.:P

This is sad but true.

Was this a hypothetical question?

I hope so :-* (I wish there was a kissy-face icon to show support).

i wont ask if i don’t care.
But my answer to the question would depend on who is asking.
Do they actually give a shit or are they just performing pleasantries?

If a friend asks, I will honestly answer.

Although, I should add; no matter how I am feeling on any given day I answer "OUTSTANDING" with a smile. No one ever expects that answer, and it always makes me feel better, and generally makes them feel better (that is the assumption because they usually perk up) :)

Yeah yeah - it's completely hypothetical :)in our past but we really felt obligated to say things were ok (or better!) today. And yes... Obviously, part of it is that people don't care!!

Thought it was interesting - and true!

Here are two acceptable answers:

"Oh, you know, strikes and gutters, ups and downs,"

or

"Sometimes you eat the bear, sometimes the bear eats you..."

I just know Dave is looking for an opportunity to respond with: "DO YOU SEE WHAT HAPPENS???...":D

DO YOU SEE WHAT HAPPENS LARRY? DO YOU SEE WHAT HAPPENS? DO YOU SEE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU MEET A STRANGER IN THE ALPS?

I'm a little bit like this but I still tend to veer towards the easier "I'm fine" answer.

Unless the guy's name is Donny. Then, really, there's only ONE acceptable answer.

If someone is asking me, I will answer them straight. If they don't want to hear the truth they shouldn't ask.

Though it depends on the person asking, if I'm having a shit day and a stranger asks, I will give a "meh, you know..". But if it's someone I know I will give them a 10 minute long rant on the situation and my desire to kick peoples teeth out.

I don't do the whole 'pretend everything is okay and hide emotions' thing. I raaaaaaaageeeeeeeeee at everyone and everything.

They better damn well listen to my raging and they better feel privileged that I allowed them to. :)

I call it how i see it:| . If i think some one is being a twat i will tell them, or they ask me how i am or think i will tell them straight. Will be honest lost a few friends that way but never been one to beat about the bush or let things fester. Most of my Friends Know this and if they don't realize it quickly, then they do sooner or later. I really can't stand people talking behind other peoples back i prefer to say it to their face its just the way i was brought up.

I prefer and respect people who pay me the same curtsey, more.

My air may not smell of roses but at least its clear :D
