stayhigh 2 #7 May 8, 2015 No fingerprinting? For sure? this says the fingerprinting still in place. http://www.bridgeday.info/index.php why people BASE? to get away from bullshit like this, if we have to sign and submit info and obey the rules, might as well go to the dropzone.Bernie Sanders for President 2016
Bridge_Day 0 #8 May 8, 2015 Like I said, there was a lot of bullshit going on with people who have an axe to grind with the event. Technically, there was never any finger printing, it was a single finger scan, and I have made sure that even that is not required. Since 2002, a background check has been required for anyone involved with the event (jumper, rapeller, vendor) to give the illusion that someone was doing something about security. Up until last this year, that background check was run through the local police's computer (same as if arrested). Starting this year, we are using a 3rd party vendor that merely checks public records (same type as for renting and apartment or employer check). Is it useless? Yes. Same as taking off shoes at airport, but most of us still fly. I've never seen anyone at the bottom of the gorge after a jump who was lamenting the registration process. Spending a day jumping the New is a lot of fun for those who choose to do it. YMMV. I'll be at the DZ this weekend, and I'll be jumping the New in Oct because its a lot of fun. If you want to join in the fun, we'll see you there.
Andy9o8 2 #9 May 8, 2015 You keep referring to yourself in the first person, and ask people to believe you. For starters, identify yourself: tell us who you are.
normiss 769 #10 May 8, 2015 Good luck. From what I hear, it's basically a non event now.

baronn 111 #12 May 9, 2015 Hustling to get attendence for this event on this forum seems a bit odd to me. But any douchebag that circumvents a boycott by the majority of the BASE community will stoop to most anything Good Luck

RMK 3 #15 May 9, 2015 I had previously wished to attend a Bridge Day, but after following this story have no desire to ever visit. I hope the backlash and boycott yield an event so quiet that you can hear crickets chirp."Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
michalm21 0 #16 May 9, 2015 There is a new Bridge Day event in Twin Falls I hear. You should go there. Should be fun.

Bridge_Day 0 #18 May 12, 2015 On average, 100 skydivers make their 1st BASE jump at Bridge Day. Its been that way for the last 25 years, so this is the most logical place to reach those folks wishing to do so. For the couple hundred people who jump at Bridge Day this year, it will probably be the best day and night of their year. If that bothers anyone who doesn't attend the event, I'm sure with a few years of therapy I'll be able to live with my guilt.
Andy9o8 2 #19 May 12, 2015 QuoteI'm sure with a few years of therapy I'll be able to live with my guilt. I'm sure your attitude will be a magnet for those on the fence of decision. Again: you ask us to believe you, but you haven't identified yourself so that we can gauge your credibility for ourselves. Second request now: who are you? Andy9o8 2 #21 May 12, 2015 normissThe new organizer is my guess. Well, sure, I presumed so. But if he wants us to trust him, he should be trusting enough to identify himself by name. And maybe a bit of relevant background. Considering what he's asking of the community, I don't think that's too much to ask. If he answers, that will be helpful. If he fails to do so - I know he's reading this - that will be telling, too. Ball's in his court.

roostnureye 2 #24 May 12, 2015 Sleep in the bed you've made. The responses here clearly state how the BaseJumpers feel about your endeavor. and get a life, 50 fucking skydives....... what the fuck is wrong with you? grasping at straws are we? do the manufacturers know you will be going against their requirements for beginners jump numbers? you do realize they require 200 to use their equipment right? its apparent you don't care about the base community, manufacturers, or participants. by supporting the idea of a 50 jump wonder jumping at this event. please stop trolling the skyjumping forums for people to put in danger. btw what rigs are you planning on loaning out to the 50jump wonders? ill be sure to let the manufacturers know that you disregard their safety requirements and have no problem putting them at risk.
