  1. Hmm. I am a golfer with a very technical on plane swing. I have been approached many times on the range and have joined groups and gave advice only after asking if they wanted it. I have lurked a bit on forums when considering altering one part of my swing, info on bending a club weaker and other technical aspects. I have never seen nitpicking as you speak of. In fact just the opposite. It heavily lacks the egos of many of the other competitive sports I have engaged/competed in. Perhaps because it can be a very humbling sport. I have been advanced in many high speed sports but had to work and train more than usual to develop the swing I have. I never met one person nitpicking along the way. And now that my swing is better than the average amateur I would never nitpick someone else. Hell I almost sold my clubs the first day and did do a local tower to stress down after my first session. If you’re going to be sarcastic and take a jab try and at least get a sport that would make your comment more accurate. Although having competed proficiently in many sports, I have a good idea where the egos lie within the sports I have been competitive in. But I don't have a problem with egos in general. Hell I am guilty at times in how I treat myself. Only when your ego reflects how you treat others does it become a problem to me. I highly doubt anyone has every nitpicked you on the driving range unless you specifically asked for it. Fiction I belive. Why the need to call out a different group to put down to make a point?(rhetorical) That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  2. No, it certainly isn't. But it is about trying to be at the perfect altitude for your turn every time. Or it could be trying to have the perfect turn for your altitude every time. That is what he was trying to say and that is not a hit or miss approach. I jumped for two years without an altimeter. Swooping tight approaches and having very consistent accuracy. My accuracy on entry or landing did not change when I got an altimeter. I highly doubt I was at the exact same altitude every time although I certainly strived to be. I would argue if you cant throw a turn from various altitudes and "make up your turn on the fly"(control speed of rotation among other variables) than your not as well skilled in canopy piloting as you may think. Actually this is precisely why people get hurt. Not knowing when to use alternate means to finish the turn if your approach requires it when you find yourself lower than you wanted That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! 3. I missed where anyone suggested they made that kind of jump!? But I agree a thread like this is not necessarily good for those that need encouragement not to downsize That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  4. typically but here is a great option that gives 3x magnification that can be flipped to the side for 1x http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=&sku=944503&gclid=COnCrI77nr4CFYNcMgodAScAWA&is=REG&Q=&A=details That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! 5. Huh? How is that even remotely possible? 1) "relatively parallax free" sounds to me an awful lot like "just a little bit pregnant." It's a binary state. It either is or isn't. 2) How can anything be accurate if it's not lined up? Explain please. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=UIKH5GLpL5g That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  6. Nope. The rifle is a PSL with a PSO-1 scope. I pulled it out and it's not offset much. a little less than half an inch. http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii191/Grantman_album/2-1.jpg (not my picture) I believe he was referring to the AR in that Quade posted since you didn't put up a pic in your post That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! 7. I have Crimson Trace grips on a P226 which are a laser built in to the side so I have them zeroed at only I believe 10-12 yards. I don't really shoot it much and don't really use the laser when I did. As a side note they are really kind of in the way. They make the gun wider and would make in print easy if you wanted to carry(I didnt get my ccw to carry) and also if you were using them your finger blocks the laser when you index your trigger finger. You have to lower your finger off the frame and depending how long your finger is this can be a issue. Pretty cool for showing wuffos though That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  8. So you have been mentioning now that it is his canopy skills that are very unsafe. Or were they only unsafe before when he was not carrying paying customers? Nevermind. If he was unsafe under canopy you would have showed us that since you have plenty of video of his landings. I don't see what almost biffing it on a night jump has to to with anything regarding tandems. Was he doing night tandems as well? 9. Honestly not trying to be an ass: Is a 1.5 wing loading on a Katana at 400 jumps really what people are considering conservative these days? While it certainly isn't the most aggressive downsizing I've ever seen, I wouldn't call it conservative by any stretch. You are right in my opinion... even the move before it, wingloading is ok but canopy choice is most definitely not! I think some people missed a bit of sarcasm about his downsizing. 10. It was much more than that. He thanked everyone! Every teammate one by one. Choking up many times. The owner, the Coaches... All one by one. All with more than just thanks. But what they meant to him and why. What they did for him. Individually! How they helped him earn this MVP. Trainers, equipment people.. Then it went into family and ended with his Mother who received a standing ovation as she was trembling in tears. The whole thing is about 25 minutes long. It will take a bit out of you watching it if you are an emotional person. I knew nothing about this man before but became an instant fan. Anyone that watches that speech will have no choice but to cheer for KD. You will just have to be a fan even if you dislike the NBA. Highly reccomeded. 11. Without sharing too much....With just 12 months in the sport I went to Quincy 99 and a Demoed a new canopy that PD had just came out with. It was called the Velocity. A 96. After a few jumps in light variable winds with people landing different directions I came to the quick understanding that the convention was not the place to be learning that canopy with just a year of jumping including Wisconsin winter and went back to my regular canopy for the rest of the convention. 12. That came out a attempted sarcasm when I was tired and really even if constructed properly was a silly attempt. I think I meant mandate the smart guns use for the gangs first as a sample group. Pretend I didn't say it. And I don't know how/if retrofitting with that particular technology would even exist. Not a room in many designs. I can't believe I having this conversation. And I don't have either of those manufactures firearms I listed. It was a poor posting all the way around. As jaded as your views on firearms can be I was still surprised to see you talking about considering a mandate. I think it is just silly. Kits for mounting the chip in the gun would surface. Devices to jam the frequencies would be surface. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  13. My grandson is pretty severely autistic. In terms of reading, writing, etc he is still far behind his age group. I seriously doubt that we'll have much luck teaching gun safety to a kid who still poops in a diaper at almost 5 years old. However he does like to climb, pull open drawers and dump out the contents, etc. I would like to have the security of having a firearm reasonably handy for home defense, yet not have to worry he'll find it resulting in a tragedy. But you tell me that's a stupid fucking idea. Don So if you can afford a gun and you want one but don't have the money for a biometric safe which is reasonably handy why couldn't you just keep the Loaded mag separate? In your pocket? In a high place? In the freezer?(or not) What is the difference in having to get the watch vs get the mag during the times your grandson is around. Unless you are always going to wear this watch at all times. I personally can't wear watches. I would strap it to the firearm. What is a fucking stupid idea is a mandate or legislation. It is simply a back door way to stop or at least highly reduce firearm sales. All guns would now need to be electronic. Almost every bit of tooling any manufactures have becomes scrap. If you would rather spend thousands for an electronic .22lr gun and then trust your life to it(since you said you want one for protection) instead of a couple hundred dollar safe I for one am not going to call you a fucking idiot. Not to your face. Have at it. But I doubt they will be available until that law gets repealed. What I find funny is that all the anti gun people automatically jump on this death threat bandwagon without any knowledge it is true. This whole thing stinks like a big publicity stunt to me. Whether to draw in business for the Gun shop owner or to get the Jersey law changed or a little of both. And it most likely will do both so much good can come out of it. Whether there were a few idiots that actually threatened or that was just made up to get mainstream recognition. So where is the big problem. Only good can come out of this? So he get more sales, the Jersey law gets dropped which directly in turn may will allow a path to open for you to actually get purchase a gizmo gun vs a reliable accurate firearm in the caliber of your choice and a reliable safe. I recommend The Judge deserves a good look. 410 in the first cylinder That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  14. To be fair those floating laterals are not what the original question was about. (which I didn't realize when I first responded was an old thread and there were many responses I hadn't read) Those will still have a load at the outside corner of the container and overall it shortens the effective length of the lateral from the ring to attachment. I don't know if I am saying that right. I noticed after I found this was an old thread a post by Chuck noting his opinion. I had noted I have never owned a cut in rig so I should not speak on the subject. I do know that when I shortened my lateral by an 1" to 2" total it made a significant difference in the load I could impact through the risers. Input started sooner and stronger as the laterals were so short the container had to stay more square to the harness? Wasn't made for comfort though. That is why I felt (whether right or wrong) that the cut ins would have a mechanical disadvantage. You are not only lengthening quite a bit allowing more flex but changing the loading point and direction. Now to be fair that rig that I shortened the laterals on was that silly small sexy wings W-0 so I was comparing the shorter laterals on a different smaller rig. Not an identical one. It was a huge difference though and that was the only change in harness size Another thing is that was sometime ago and when I ordered that I was jumping a wing that had much higher riser pressure than any of the canopies that are being jumped in the circuit today. It wasn't harness input to steer I was concerned with but input to keep in the turn and dive longer and harder. So what some like Chuck noted may not apply with wings that can crank 540's with much more ease than a 270 on some of the earlier designs. Just my thoughts. I could be 180 off. I do like that floating lateral though! That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  15. What kind of performance data? Nevermind. The fact that you are even discussing a mandate given proper data makes that rhetorical for me. I am sorry. I just don't understand how you don't understand. I don't have much a lot of experience with drugs so I don't particularly engage in debate about legislation either way. I could learn to take a side but but I leave that up to you experts. I do enough to sound stupid without going there. Yet we have people that claim to not do drugs all for legalizing and those that don't shoot guns willing to ban them. It gets confusing how people pick there stances. But then when I realize they let there political party define those is starts to get a little clearer. The Venerable 1911 smart gun? When can I get my Les Baer? Wilson? Oh. That's right. Every gun I own is no longer available. And my neighbors. And his neighbors....and so on. If you even knew how silly this mandated concept sounds... But you probably consider those that do "gun nuts" If you really don't realize the consequences it is not worth debating. But I am pretty sure you know exactly what your doing. "performance data"...........???? How about we start with a mandate for the gangs and inner city impoverished areas and see how they work? If we can save just a few gang banger criminals it will be all worth it. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  16. No, I'm afraid you don't have it straight. Oh. You didn't point us to that article then. Sorry. I don't know where I got that from. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  17. edit because I didn't actually watch the video before I responded. If anyone saw my response I am aware of how misinformed it was. That said I believe there is a strong possibility there was some outpouring and this store owner is playing it up to get national attention. No doubt this store is about to have a major increase in sales. Something just seems amiss to me about this That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! 18. I really didn't think he had much to begin with myself. But just goes to show you can always go lower But hey I didn't have my licence filled in properly so thankfully he called me out on that. 19. Let me get this straight. You point to a poorly written and referenced article that even with bias said that premiums might go up in the future IF a ONE year "trend" continues. (If an IF was a fifth we'd all be drunk). And then state it as fact???? I emphasize trend because some points were just plain dumb. Like the unreferenced(still the Detroit news? Very vague on that with his writing style) 25 helmet-less serious injuries that jumped to 195. No mention of how many serious injuries there actually were with helmeted riders. With tens of thousands more helmet-less riders in the state it is no wonder that a some broken bones here and there now fall into the helmet-less side regardless if the helmet had any bearing other than switching categories. No idea where the data came from or what the used. Racers? Mx'rs? Hospital room reports? Phone surveys? Bar polls? Nothing. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! 20. Could I ask what positive impact they have on rigs that are much less narrow than your body? I can see manufactures wanting there sponsored jumpers to have them show off the options and they may have a cosmetic appeal to some and hence higher resale value(?), but what is your main reason for ordering them? Totally serious question so please don't take it the wrong way. I am just cheap and never ordered them even when getting a discount. I certainly see there benefit on many rigs but talking tiny rigs in question here? That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  21. Exactly. The trucker never saw him coming. Attached is the screen capture. I do 4-5000 miles a year cycling, and a cardinal rule is to never pass another vehicle (parked or moving) close enough to be caught by an opening door. That is even dumber on a motorcycle. Hard to do lane splitting which can be done safely and even legally in some places. Figure doors on both sides plus the with of an FLT. Hardly ever that much room. That said the biker here was in idiot. What no one mentions here unless I missed it is that he had a fricken passenger on the back! I have races motorcycles for many years and have slid my ultra on occasion without a bump in my HR. I am not against lane splitting but that guy is a #$%#&. Hope that girls father watched that video That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  22. Fixed D just for you Sparky. Anonymity? You haven't filled out your profile because you want anonymity? Omg. Your THAT guy! The guy that got fired from Delmarva for acting like you are right now. Most people reading this can find out who your are with a phone call. Anonymity.........? Do you think you get along well among your peers? (rhetorical) That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  23. You can not seriously think I am trying to fool anyone with that number. When I registered I didn't know what it was so I made one up that would obviously not be someone else's. My god. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  24. Huh? That is not the way it looks to me at all. Not the dz, the USPA, many on this thread... What am I missing? My view of the grabbing is that it is more of a bad habit than any sort of sexual gratification. My Physical therapist gets more contact of my arm in her bosom than that during shoulder rehab but it never got me all hot and bothered or anything. I just don't see sexual intent at all in those pictures. And it wouldn't matter if it were my daughter. How prudish can we be? Pretty reaching. It reminds me of a Janis Joplin interview I recently watched when she said when she reads a media critique that many times you are really reading about the writer themselves. What they like, dislike, what there mother was like...... It is all about them That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  25. fwiw I liked the last post. Simple, to the point and right on. And based on that post I gather you are aware that most of the last one will probably be falling on deaf ears. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
