  1. I understood what you meant, but I am a Brit and I think we tend to assume sarcasm first! I found it pretty funny. Came across just fine to me also. And I also laughed out load. Personally the only time I threw my handles was on my first mal, but not until I was ready to reach up and grab the reserves lines so I could crank a 270 riser dive. I had not stowed them yet so I decided to drop them intentionally as I was over the landing area and I wasn't going to waste a jump ticket and not hook it. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  2. The flip side is not good for my child either. She is a good mom when she is in that mode and loves her child to death. That goes both ways. I can't take the his Mother away from him. I just wish we could live closer. She needs to settle down and quit moving. This is the Third perfect man she has met. The last one beat her up with close fists and gave her an eye that was swollen shut. And she was smart enough to actually send me a text picture of it the next day before she forgave him and took him back. That was nice ammo That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  3. Yes and I have filed it but the judge has been out of town on vacation and apparently another judge has not signed it to set up a court date. Waiting for a call so I can start the serving process down there but heard nothing yet. Hopefully I get the call today. Not sure what having papers amended to MY advantage means. Just charge her through the criminal side as well as the contempt side this time and set a example for once she can not get away. Child needs his mother as well That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  4. Third god damn state with the third boyfriend and for the third time my sons mother refused to return him to me after summer vacation to be with me for the school year per court orders. Wheels of justice are slow as shit and my kid is out of school and I have not seen him for months. Not happy and need to fly to Austin TX now for a court date after she claimed enough lies to get a hearing to see if Texas will transfer jurisdiction. I could just scream. I have lost everything fighting over this and I can not afford this anymore. Neither can my 9 year old. Off to Texas I go. I am depressed. Sorry. Needed to shout. He is a straight A student that scored 99 percentile in his 3rd grade tests last year that grade the schools. And he has always been with me for the school year while his mother has not paid a dime in child support. I think I have done something right to get him so advanced and talented but no one cares. Sympathy for the selfish mother that chases men all over the country and is more immersed in body building and "supplements" than her own son most of the year That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! 5. quadcopter, hexcopter, multi rotor, UAV... Drone is just trendy and I have even heard Kalland use it. Annoys the crap out of me also as an rc enthusiast. I don't call my collective pitch helis toys though either though. That bugs me also. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  6. I kind of feel the same way. One other thing BASE taught me is that I would make a terrible criminal. All the sneaking and worrying about getting caught, hurdling things to gain access..., I am usually freaked out well before I get to an exit. Every noise or car light while I am climbing even an A in a field, ect. I am just to paranoid of getting busted to be a real bad ass BASE jumper. And that really surprised me. Too much anxiety on the heist part of it for me on anything but real remote or legal jumps That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  7. Bro, do you even have 5000 tandems?! LOL!! Perfect! That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  8. Any good points you possibly have to offer have been lost by your attitude and your ego. At this point you are not even talking about the incident in question but using it to get on your soapbox to defend YOUR right to hook with your tandem passengers. It is all about you. Your right. Your jump. Your swoop/hook. Your off track. Earlier you said this... " So let's stop talking about hook turn. Let's focus on why this Ti didn't clear the airspace."... but then you never ever stopped talking about it yourself because you need to defend YOUR right to hook every tandem. Your even all over the map about it and why to do it. You do it because it's what you do and you like to hook. Perhaps your customers would like that extra 5 seconds of descent to take it all in as they are coming in to land and watching their friends/family/DZ on the approach. But it is not really about them to you it doesn't seem. The only thing I have to add on the turn itself is that doing a low(not low enough in this video as you have made very clear)180 turn in traffic over the main landing area fucks with others on the DZ. You may think you can always clear your airspace but to do this turn you have to be going into the grain jumpers on final at a very low altitude. If you have visiting jumpers on the load this can cause a lot of confusion especially if the winds are light and variable and landing direction is unclear. Fortunately this is mitigated by the fact that most canopies would already be on the ground before you That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! 10. You always seemed pretty reserved about discussing it so I guess I just assumed you at least got a little frost bite. Made for a better story as well when I thought it to be true. btw, I have several times told that story to whuffos involving you along with a particular pool game that is Legendary. I have never done a naked jump but one of night swoops ranks at one of my favorites(and all time stupidest.). If a friend would not have got killed a few weeks later with a bright idea he got from watching that jump it would take the top spot for sure. 12. How are you so sure? I have not even read the story your discussing so maybe the details are in there that he thought he was safe to do so. I doubt they are though and if I am wrong I apologize. But I would never ever ever assume like you do. That someone that tries to help does not realize the risk they are taking. I would think quite the opposite of a good samaritan if I were forced to assume but usually I reserve that judgement for the extremest on both sides of the isle That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! 13. No. You do not. You may think you know, but it is impossible to know until you're actually put in that situation. Believing you think you know is living in a fantasy world. Maybe for you. I am certain I know. Sure. Just like there are a lot of dead skydivers who were SURE they didn't need an AAD because they KNEW they would always pull on time. I hate to even respond to Kallend but I am in that mood. What does the skydiver saying they knew he would pull on time have to do with anything? Turtle says he knows what he would do. If he went up in a plane to jump would you agree he would jump? He might say I am getting in that plane and I know what I am going to do. Yep....Jump out. I see nowhere that Turtle has guaranteed any damn outcome. Did I miss that post? Maybe he meant to guarantee but I only took at as he would act! Second does every cop that gets killed in the line of duty have everyone jump on him that he was not qualified and was in over his head? I have put myself in some questionable situations trying to help some one but I knew I was I was getting into. Just because you don't win every battle does not mean you were not cut out for the fight!! WTH? You can not rehearse that shit anymore than the cops can or first responders in an emergency. Guess what? Even the special forces get killed! I have seen enough to know there was a time when I was in better shape that you would rather have me show up to save you than the local police or volunteer rescue(depending on situation). Sadly that had failed as well and I have to wonder what I could have done different. I get so pissed reading some of this crap so sorry for the vent. I have actually discharged a firearm in a tense situation followed by my laser in the dark pointed center of mass from my Crimson Trace grips(actually I immediately hit the decocker on my 226 pointed at the ground first sending it into DA mode before aiming center of mass). But again I put myself into that situation. I would not have done it exactly the same knowing info on the back end but so be it. Now before you go off on me let me say this. I have actually got rid of a sidearm when I was carrying(in the woods actually. Have a ccw but have never carried in public), before engaging in a tense situation. Knowing full well(or thinking) I could handle said situation and I felt no flipping need to bring a pistol to the show. My brother freaked out when I dropped my holster at cabin to go back to the problem first thinking I was nuts. It was a no brainer and instinctive for me. I was carrying for wildlife predators not because I ever expected to come across a tense confrontation. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! 14. Thank you for your insight. Where I live we have quite a few Urgent care facilities. I wonder where they fit in and if they would be covered by the insurance you speak of. If so they are still going to the wrong place. One of the Urgent Care's in my town is at the hospital. You go in the same door as the ER but go right for Urgent care and left for the ER. So they wouldn't have even gone to the wrong place, but just took a wrong turn. The last two times I went to Urgent Care though they sent me to the ER. One was my stupidity for not going but wasn't thinking clearly I actually stopped by the ER a couple days after the last time I was admitted to thank everyone I was so impressed with their professionalism and compassion. I had everyone on the board in my room helping me and they were great. Have to love it when people actually love their job and are good at it. Anyway, are the urgent care facilities not covered or are people just not aware of them? The one I am familiar with is run right with primary care in the same office. You either have an appointment or are a walk in. The problem in the larger cites in the US does not apply to many of the places I have lived though That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! 15. It could take days and pop when you least expect it. You can help it by blowing but be careful not to go as hard as you can. For sure take something like pseudoephedrine to clear sinuses if your going up again right away.(Of course make sure the side affects are not a problem) I struggled with this a lot early on. Had it take over a week and boy what a feeling when it finally cleared. Just because you do not have a cold does not mean you do not have some sinus infection. Allergies? 16. He died. Fired his reserve into a malfunctioned main and went in with a mess. In other words he pulled the wrong handle. If you go on to jump solo practice your ep's relentlessly. Riding to altitude you can pretend over and over. In the loading area...In the hanging harness.. You don't think about what handle it is no more than you have to think about what pedal to use when you want to stop your car. Or what lever is the clutch on a motorcycle. But you use those all the time so you need to simulate make it second nature. So when SHTF you have already done the EP hundreds of times in your head with simulation. 17. Of all the Paranoia you spoke of it seemed to me from the start no one has more than yourself. So much troubling things in your posts. Scary stuff. BTW. I really have a hard time believing that many gun cleaning accidents are really from gun cleaning. When I hear a cop did it I feel very strongly it was a cover for suicide for benefits. This kid? If he even existed? Probaly showed it to a friend who shot him and covered it up. Sure there may be an AD(accidental discharge) here and there from careless people but how in the hell to you kill yourself by mistake cleaning a gun? Clean it with one in the chamber? What? The barrel is one of the more important things to clean and you don't have it open? BS. I call bullshit on 99% of "gun cleaning" fatalities. You need to have a cartridge in the chamber, point it at a your head or chest and pull the trigger. First thing you would do is clear the gun. Before anything else. Even when I know my gun is empty I do not point it at myself and pull the trigger. Something just I could not do even though I knew it would be safe. Not saying it doesn't happen but mostly I belive these to be cover ups. But if you said it, it must be true. Just because your paranoid doesn't mean it didn't happen. 18. Took me one year. Jumped at only a small Cessna DZ so 8 ways were the biggest. I started right before Quincy so I had to wait a full year till the next one. Lots of beer owed that week. Firsts galore. Got on the multi plane shots in the evenings(50ish?) The Velocity was debuted and I was one of the first in line. First 20ish way on first Velocity jump? Yep. Safe place That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  19. Then whoever was spotting needs to get their shit sorted. You aren't spotting for yourself, you're spotting for the entire load. So the spotter on the first group needs to get their shit "sorted" if the second group takes way to much time setting up and one of the last groups gets long. Get out last out of 4-5 groups where the middle group screwed around in door and have some problem on opening that puts you in saddle lower than expected. Spotter on first group needs to get their shit sorted!?! Regardless you initially blamed a bad spot entirely on the jumper landing out. Maybe the spotter does need to do a better job. But you acted like that reflected negatively always on the person landing out which is just nonsense. Ideally though I would hope they would recognize and open a little higher or even ask for a go around if practical. Point is depending on your position in a group/ formation you may not be responsible for the spot and that does not negate Drew's point. Then you bit off more than you could chew and need to re-evaluate your abilities Nonsense. And more negativity. Not accomplishing something on a particular jump does not remotely mean you were in over your head? Wth? Actually, I would rather not make it back than be back by 5000 ft. Some dz's are not as forgiving for landing out of course and would be better to spot short, but it is not my type of cross country if your are back at the dz with half your altitude left. Extreme example.... I took one out 21 miles and the airspace we were infringing on would not let us exit much over 8k. Talked dzo into flying a CC when the day was a wash because of winds. Came up a bit short. Extremely memorable and fun jump. Went back up and did one from 16 miles ( I was on a 107 this time, first one was on a Manta 288) and just squeaked over the last subdivision and trees onto the edge of airport with a flat braked turn crosswind for landing. Only two loads of the day. You think I flew straight in from 500 ft on either of those landings? Point is I "bit off" more than I could make back on the first one but I chewed it up just fine and only did it because I was prepared to not make it back. Your "bit off more than you can chew" and "re-evaluate abilities" comment makes no sense to me. Drew's point was simple and is very valid. You see, some people will not turn below a certain altitude and think they are safe and conservative and have downsized without required skill set. But like you, off landings scare the crap out of them because they are going to fly straight until they hit something or do a last minute low turn they do not know how to do and frap themselves. Low turns are probably the largest single factor contributing to fatalities in skydiving today. An occasional out landing is inevitable but if you land out so frequently that you get a history of it, then I reckon that should be an indicator that you're doing something wrong. Apparently you think landing out in random places at regular intervals is fun. Good for you. Again I think Drew had a Different meaning of history. Probably could have used experience there if it was known you were going to be so negative about it. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! 20. I love the video. Not crazy about the implication swooping is all about looking cool though. Heard that way to much and only applies to some and not swoopers as a whole. Still a pretty funny video even with that error. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  21. One could argue that having a history of making out landings and low turns is a good argument that you shouldn't be jumping until you have a good long think about why you so frequently fuck up your flight plan and/or spot. And you could easily lose that argument. Off landings happen. Hell I love them but whatever. Late diver on a large formation jump and you are going to stop and check the spot? Cross country? Change in winds at last minute? Low turns save lives. I don't think Drew meant to imply history as in a problem.(he has a history of being a dumbass) I think he meant it more like experience (He has had some off landings in his history of jumping that he handled with no panic and clear thinking) That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  22. That picture really illustrates to me how we all have a vastly different levels of acceptable risk in vastly different disciplines. Some condemn others for not wearing a helmet while skydiving(wtf??), or belittle for downsizing too fast. No effing way in hell would jumping with that contraption on my head have EVER entered my mind! How long ago was this if I were to search for a thread on it? 24. Not me but I had a friend that rarely comes on here though I think lurks that did a naked night jump on New Years(99-00) at midnight from 10k in North Central Wisconsin. Ground temp was barely out of single digits I believe. He used to do sunset naked all the time before that but he ceased after that particular jump. Something happened on that jump but he never really gave particulars. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
