  1. I can't really answer your question from experience(never had cut ins) but on paper it sure looks like a significant loss of leverage. What I can answer(or perhaps ask), as I just sold one of the smallest rigs I know of, is what exactly the point would be anyway as a tiny rig is so narrow. Depends on what you mean by tiny of course. The container I sold I had several experienced packers refuse to pack a 74 in it. It broke a closing loop at the convention on the 20 something jump on the rig and I got an evil glare from the girl closing it about when I last changed it. "Never! I just got the rig!" I did stuff an 82 in there but it was painful. I only go there to define what you mean by "tiny". That rig was sexy as hell in parapak but I would never ever purchase it again. But I can see no advantage to cut in laterals on rigs this small and only the loss of leverage for harness input. I did have the laterals an inch shorter on that rig specifically to help increase sensitivity to harness input. Cut in laterals I always thought were designed to keep larger rigs from sliding around. Small rigs already keep the laterals tight to your body That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.

  3. Gain when I am indulging and using my ADHD "tomorrow" excuse. Lose when I want to. I just started a calorie deficient diet because of the long winter over here and coming off an injury. Lost 8 pounds immediately and but have been stuck now as I am eating a lot of Protein and Fat and working my body. Gain may mean fat or a higher body/fat ratio. I started last week only 10 pounds over my personal ideal weight but I lacked about 7 pounds of muscle so it was worse than scale showed. Weight isn't everything. 4. I've always called riders who choose not to wear helmets dumbasses, but in the land of the FREE, they should choose whats right for THEMSELVES. That's the thing about freedom. But you can go right ahead and let everyone else choose whats best for you, and soon enough you'll be wearing depends waiting for the gubment worker to come change them out. Seriously are all australians raging vaginas or do any of you actually have a pair? I have always called people who throw themselves out of airplanes yet put others down in a derogatory fashion because of something statistically safer they engage in doesn't match their personal values and beliefs........ Dumbasses Having personally witnessed many fatalities in several sports, having attempted CPR more than once, having been "on the grounds" numerous times when other fatalities occurred, and having lost many friends and acquaintances over the years, I find it appalling that the attitude here can be reflected so negative toward others acceptance of risk. I have logged many miles on the road without a helmet and I am aware I am always at risk of getting taken out when in traffic. Been on rides with bikes in the hundreds and while that has always been a concern and I try to stay in the front and then to the back after a "block"(for those that don't know large rides have blockers that stop traffic so the group can ride through) and avoid the middle, I have never know anyone that ended personally or been with some one that ended up dead or a veggie because they did not have a helmet on. I am not trying to say they won't help or that they are not a good idea but for heavens sake. How can people in this forum be so judgmental toward others acceptable risk??? WTF? Skydiving as so many more times more risky than riding without a helmet. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.

  6. Your avatar shows a picture of a grown male, yet your posts seem to be written in the vernacular of a 10yr old boy. Do Mummy & Daddy know you're using the computer all on your own? PA's are now allowed? I am going to try one quick and see if it stands That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  7. I agree. I just now got home and found the thread. The first post was pretty funny but I would have cut him a little slack. But his skin was to thin to realize he should back off. Unbelievable what his subsequent responses were. It was a good read. Until I got to a couple posts toward the end from a good guy no longer around which gave me pause. 8. Anything with wheat in it. Summer ales, Winter ales, all your variety of Weiss beers. I personally am very sensitive to wheat as far as flatulence. Oh and a good oatmeal stout. 9. I went up in a Cessna to scout for one after couple hundred foot reserve opening and didn't see where it went. It was actually really near by but 72 ft2 gray and blackberry was hard to see and it was last load that it happened so I didn't want to waste time after initial search came up empty. Canopy was almost brand new so I was freaking a bit even though I was getting partial manufacture support I still was paying a grand for them. The one that I got lucky finding was a PD demo 79 velocity that bag locked. Now that is a treat to look for. Like finding your free bag in a corn field. Should have had a neon D-bag. I was really bumming on that one since it wasn't mine. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  10. Dan, you gotta post a link to that one!
  11. Oh I agree completely. There is a big crowd here though that think that anyone that progresses faster than they did thinks they are special and a natural and they dish it out all the time in a very negative and downright mean way so much as to negate any meaningful advice they may have. Perhaps the people that dish it so much thought they were above average and are resentful. Perhaps not. It is more than trying to help or they would change their methods. Most of the people I have seen that thought they were above average talent actually were. People that are overly cocky and arrogant about their misconceptions of how talented they are do not feel the need to be coming on dz.com asking strangers about canopy choices. I think there is some validity to what many say even though there delivery defeats their point and push people the other way, but I also think the people that are asking on here are for the most part not as conceited as the canopy nazi's make them out to be. Because most of who they imply they are would not even care what some strangers thought and would deal with it at there local dz instead. I won't get into specifics but the DZO's where I learned where a couple and had around 18000 jumps when I started. Both but especially one was very safety oriented. If I were dumb enough to come on here my first year and tell the truth about my experience level asking questions about canopies I would have been called every name in the book and as a result would have thrown any useful info right out the window. Every one wants to defend the content of what they say but there is a reason some are great instructors. Many have good constructive content. Few can deliver it properly. Sometimes those who are accusing others of having an ego problem actually are the ones with either ego problems or broken egos themselves. I just expected you to get reamed is all I meant. That said I do find it odd that you made your first jump on that canopy and do not understand why. Not on a first jump. No one including you know what your all about at that point. 12. I wish I had one of those popcorn icons right now. Your may get reamed for thinking your a Natural shortly. I assume you are a bigger boy though doing your first jump at that WL? That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  13. Such a helpful comment from a D license holder. Got any more pearls of wisdom? Lots of that going on here on any canopy questions in various forums here. At least he didn't say he was a fucking idiot for even considering not going back to a large canopy so he doesn't screw himself into the ground. That said I do kind of agree with the content of what was said but there is nothing wrong with someone asking others how their hot rod canopy felt after an extended break. But that is going to be an individual thing just like how some can downsize safely and get reamed on here. Some people get nervous with speed and their head can not make decisions fast enough. Others everything seems slowed down in their head and have no tendencies to panic or have anxiety and can take a different path. They of course get hammered on because some get confused on where they fit in and get hurt. Ultimately no one knows online the mindset of the OP(what dqpacker was trying to say). The fact that he has asked the question could indicate more concern than indicated and if so would say something in itself. Whew. Sorry for the rant That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  14. Chuck, Don't take this personal or as an attack but you may want to review the format of your posts. When you read them you of course know what you have actually wrote. If someone comes into a thread and reads one of your posts it is very hard to determine who is saying what. I have to go back to see what the previous posts say. The easiest way is to write outside of the colored dialog box. It is a pain to cut and past howerver when you are breaking points up I understand and because of this I do not do that. I wish it was easier and I understand why you use the "in reply to" Now that I have it kind of figured out what you are doing it is not quite so bad and maybe you have thought this through already. In that case disregard. But if you have not I would just like to point it out. Again I realize the way others do it is a complete PITA if you are going to go point by point like that. Unless someone else has some tips for both of us. Hopefully this does not come across negative as it is not intended such. Have a good day That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  15. oh ok..thanks for clarifying. OP you are ok to go ahead and proceed with your plan to get that 188....license D has over ruled. Nice attitude again. I love when people actually think they are going to help someone by speaking down to someone. Like your "natural" comment in the other thread as if it couldn't even exist toward a person who actually took the steps everybody wants but went thru them faster than you approve. But his DZ watched and signed off all the way along. Anyway, people don't take advice that well from negative responses with condescending tone. Would it have been so difficult so just answer the question?? That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  16. He could be mistaken for RCgroups, but your actually quite Civil over there mostly. Totally different demeanor and it works well. I actually enjoy reading your posts there and usually skip over them here. This one was short enough though to take a gander. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! 17. Just a note. The OP does not even say what part of the country he is from much less which DZ. Many Static line dz's that I have been do not have rentals in various sizes. The dz I started at had Manta 288 for student canopies. Others I have been to have been similar that way and then you are on your own. A few have a smaller canopy usually in a smaller harness for small women. I only ever had my static line ratings so I am unaware what the larger dz's have for rentals as I have never been involved in their programs. But I wouldn't assume that is absolutely an option for him. I also wouldn't assume it isn't. Just a thought That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! 18. Because of your delivery. I could tell you a 100 times but you would still focus on the content rather than your delivery, attitude, name calling, and person attacks. You speak in a condescending tone in many of your posts. When you say that if someone does something you disagree with that it is fucking stupid, do you really expect it to be met with a warm welcome? The is a rhetorical question(that means you don't have to answer it) Some people get into skydiving specifically to swoop but you have to make up they downsized to look cool or because of peer pressure. Maybe they didn't get into jumping to fly a 260. Just because you don't get it doesn't mean your always right in your insults. No one ever encouraged me to downsize nor have I others. Your posts insult me. I could have never raced Motorcycles and rode a scooter instead and I would have been safer. Care to call me fucking stupid for that? Or an Asshat? As I said it was never about the OP but your attitude. I have agreed that he doesn't need to downsize. Hell even the OP agrees to why the foul language and insults? I could have stayed on two skis on the water and never got injured backwards barefooting. Care to call me fucking stupid for that to help make me safer? I could have just drove the groomer on trails rather than racing sleds on a track at a high level and never got hurt... You repeatedly have said in various posts that someone can jump for 20 years on a big canopy. We get it. You don't like fast canopies and criticize others who do. And now we know that you really don't like when someone tells points out your delivery, and that most people that want to downsize fast do not respond well to your attacks Do you criticize the bobsledders and luge in Olympics because they could have been safer on a tube at the local sledding hill? You were not talking about the OP in your comment that I responded to and neither was I. You were trying to insult those that want to fly sporty canopies That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  19. this This what? I have made zero mention of what I was jumping(ever) and I was not responding to a newbie either. What is wrong with the truth? Nothing about that statement I understand. I simply asked if he would treat me like shit if he found out what I was jumping(intended to imply if he didn't agree it was big enough for him). As in does he treat everyone like shit? Had I researched his attitude first I never would have had to ask that because it is painfully obvious after the fact. "This" That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  20. Ya I went and looked at your posts in other threads and see your attitude and the way you speak and belittle others is far from anything new. You keep focusing on the content and are completely oblivious to what I am saying that it is your attitude that I responded to. The people you think you are trying to help with your criticism and attitude are not generally the type of people that respond to that. Sometimes just the opposite. Then you go and lie and insinuate I am for him getting a smaller canopy which couldn't be further from the truth. The very fact that he has to ask such basic questions on dz.com rather than his dz after two years was all I needed to know. You have an attitude that no one can be more aggressive than you or they will be screwing themselves in the ground..... Over and over in posts you belittle people and their questions/decisions somehow thinking your are helping. You have lied about me twice in this thread. Yep, Your making a big difference. I hope you don't actually speak to people in person like that rather only when you can hide behind you keyboard. ( I say that because I care for the general well being of others.) That was BS comment also. Enjoy bitching, putting others down, lying, using fowl language and keep using your condescending tone to try and "help" people. Type A personalities respond to that SO well That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  21. I know what the FUCK you said(see how cool and grown up using your language sounds?) That is why I said insinuate but you either missed that or do not know what it meant. I bragged to what newbie about what? The newbie that registered two years ago. Hmm. Newbie? What was I bragging that I was jumping? Oh that right you don't know. Because I didn't say. Just wondered if you would talk to others or myself like that as well. I was calling you out on your attitude but all that did is make it worse. Judging all others by your abilities is BS. I am not telling this guy who is not really jumping and is still a beginner in two years to downsize. I am telling you to relax and not make such blanket statements insinuating people are stupid if they don't follow YOUR progression or some recommendation by other for the masses off people they have not seen. I am never usually careful how I talk when I am pissed off. I just don't understand what you think gives you the right to call others out so strongly. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  22. How do you know what will "bore" someone else? That is some power you have there. The biggest thing here is lack of currency. So will that trend continue? But if he was current or started getting 30 jumps a month you have no idea what would bore him. Like to see your what kind of language you would use if you found what I was jumping a year into the sport. Be careful how you talk to people. I wouldn't base others skills or learning ability based on yours and them insinuate they are fucking stupid. A persons background makes a big difference in canopy progression in this sport That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  23. Does he owe all in fees or is some/most of it fines? Every story is different I gave up trying to guess who was telling the truth That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  24. Get over yourself. You are obviously a well articulated intelligent individual. But unfortunately posts like this have made me gloss over perhaps well written logical essays of yours. I would have been fine if he said "his own children" or anything to that nature but even then the intent of BV's choice of words would have been clear. You are trying to make this about what is right or wrong by a definition stand point when you are completely(and intentionally) missing the point of intent. And doing so strictly because of which side of the isle you are on. I will later go out and find some right wingers to call out so you can get off your horse that I am somehow politically motivated in this matter to defend "my party" BV did not use the words "women and children" to make readers think he was referring to full grown adult women that were his kids. That was not his intent. If you are so blinded by which side of the isle that you feel the need to defend then all the good well thought out points your want to convey and debate are lost upon some that may have been educated and swayed. (I could use your help on that sentence grammatically) You feel the need to be right about such a simple point. And as I said I knew someone would fire back with this exact angle because what your are saying is factually true. I didn't need you to tell me that. But your so blinded by your willingness to defend anyone in your party that you refuse to admit is was a cheap use of the phrase and was intended to imply the normal and customary definition of the for mentioned phrase. Otherwise it is redundant. Children already covered anyone else mentioned if that is the meaning. This is a known phrase and you insist on picking it apart to defend his actions. His intent was clear. And by the way you write is sounds like you should be intelligent enough to realize that. I will admit I am out of my league for the most part when it comes to politics with you and many other in this forum. So you don't need to stand your high ground to prove yourself to me. BV's intent was clear and I find it despicably deceptive. Play with your definitions till your blue in the face. It won't change that That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  25. I am not trying to escape anything. I think the guy is a bit of a nut head for sure. But Billvon intentionally used the word Children to make is sound like they were going to be lining up kids at the front of the line. Why else would he use the word? After all we are all children in the other context. I didn't like the intentional deception and spoke out about it. Now I am suddenly a far right winger and what not because I prefer to hear more truth out of a moderator. Hmm. Interesting That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
