  1. +5 That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  2. I don't understand the music thing personally. I chewed a guy out I saw pull in to a place on a crotch rocket wearing ear buds and an ipod. Blows my mind. Now I love the music in a fairing on baggers but ear buds seal the outside world off. Not a big deal in freefall I guess but I still don't get it. But are you certain the downwinder was unintentional? I have done plenty of downwinders and they were not because I forgot to read the windsock. Obviously there is a time and a place but that is for another discussion. I am just saying don't assume. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! 3. I get what your saying about the gear taunting you sitting in the corner but since you indicated in your first post that you are not financially strapped, than you should have no problem pounding out jumps in short order. Can you do 6,7,8 a day on the weekend? Maybe tell your DZ not to allow you to jump it until signed off. They are also the ones that really can tell your skills vs this forum When I bought that 107 I was not allowed to jump it right away. I was actually recovering from a broken ankle(tibial pilon) that I had surgery on. They made me jump a 150 first and work down to it. I did that in the first weekend back jumping and buy the next weekend they turned be loose. Now despite my limited time in the sport I was extremely current before my injury and the 8 weeks off. Point is I was held back a week and pounded jumps so if they have to hold you back for your own good for a month so be it. If you are the way you think you are landing a 7 cell 150 reserve straight in with 80-100 jumps or less should be zero issues. I might get flamed now but so many go the others way that people forget that there ARE actually exceptions to the rule. But as said it is just finding out if you are without learning the hard way. But sometimes you just know who you are. Sometimes But you have said everything right so far. The attitude, the approach, the logic, the questions even if you think you know the answers already. Just get some more jumps. Play with sinking approaches, toggle whip turns that you brake out of into a flat turn finish. Play around hard on the edge of stall. Past the edge. Have fun, be safe. Pound out the jumps and learn something on everyone. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  4. I for one agree almost completely. Especially the point about prior experiences. Before I started jumping I had a strong background in sports that required fast hand eye coordination. I was a well accomplished motocross and snow-cross rider and could slide a streetbike around corners. High level skier both water and snow, ect and so on. The biggest thing is that I had put myself in situations where I had to make split second decisions and actions on numerous occasions. Fear is good/ Panic is bad. I broke every rule and people tried to slow me down. Still it was the DZO himself with 10,000 jumps that sold me his 107 for my second canopy with 6 months experience. While that was a bit extreme and I would never recommend it the point is not everyone is the same. And if you are willing to take the chance on that reserve then that is on you and I would not get to fired up about getting flamed on here. Just pound out the jumps and get experience. Demo your reserve if you want. Buy the rig and wait till you have 100 jumps or so to use it would be another option. Right now at your level jumping and learning are the most critical. You could have 100 jumps in no time and right now every jump counts That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  5. Obviously trolling but I will bite. I would love to run a turbine hydroplane and have ran drag boats. 400ish lb allison with a merc 2.5 at well over 100 mph. Owner had it on GPS at 123. I tried to upload a pic that was to big on a 24ft Cat that will run 100+ in heavy chop. Some of those Drag boats are silly though. I only dealt with the outboard types not the blown v8 stuff you are talking about. They are a bit nutty. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! 6. Easy Billy. She seems like a really decent person but is also not afraid to rip on the USA when she gets a chance. Most of this is simple lack of knowledge. Some people actually believe because of the violence of the gangs killing each other and also others in their neighborhood that the US is this horrible violent place reminiscent of the wild wild west that no one would ever want to live given there own choice. Maybe we shouldn't worry about protecting the borders after all because everyone should just flee out of here if it is that bad? 7. The obvious to me is zero attempt to get your risers(links) level to stop main from diving and wrapping up further to at least try and kick out(in other words get it flying level and see what you got), and the obviously self induced reserve line twists by hanging on that left rear during opening. What I don't get is what happened on the main deployment? I have had a few beers tonight but I am just confused. Was there a horseshoe at first? Some kind of premature at the very least unless I am unaware of the latest wingsuit deployment methods. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! 8. Yet you yourself have said time and time again that in all your time on the south side of Chicago you have never felt in danger. So how bad is it really Kallend. You can't have it both ways!!! We have major inner city issues and gangs. Most of them are shooting each other. I do not feel threatened either. Because I know America is a safe place. Chicago is a safe place. I have been to Atlanta 3 times and Detroit countless times. You know better than what you speak. You just refuse to accept the truth. America is a great place with inner city violence. Does other nations have inner city violence/culture like we have yet are safer because of gun laws. Stop trying to make the US look bad when you know better. Again you can not have it both ways and you have stated repeatedly in you anti gun rants that you have never needed one on the south side. So how bad is Chicago actually Kallend. Should we all move over seas because the drug dealers are killing each other?!?! That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  9. Did you miss the part that he came on here profusely stating anti american views and made several point blank personal attacks that have routinely put others on a time out from this forum? He should have been kicked out of speakers corner by the first page or two. Tough through a keyboard. He does not belong here acting like a child. And to now find out he is actually an adult?!? Saddened on one hand on happy on the other because I could feel better about wanting to bitch slap him. If nothing else then for his blatant personal attack. Others started doing it only after it became obvious the moderators would not hold him back. Sometimes that depends on what side of the isle you are on That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  10. What the hell are you talking about? He said "nearly all" and "most" and I simply showed that the last counties I have lived in to not fit in the "nearly all" and "most" profile. Funny people from outside the US seem to think they know so much about our laws and as in this case are many times wrong. Having lived all over the midwest with most places not having these stiff statues in place I can not agree with his "nearly all" and "most" statement. Further the guy actually accused me of being ok with people leaving guns just lying around. Swimming pools are so much more dangerous to kids than guns AND are not protected by the 2nd amendment that I can't help but wonder why anyone would question why some jurisdictions want fences around in-ground pools. I find it hard to believe even the staunchest NRA loyalist would support leaving a loaded gun out in the front yard. Your insult that I am behind the 8 ball is just a veiled PA to make you feel better about yourself. Mischaracterized how? By pointing out I have not lived in any county that I am aware of that falls under his "nearly all" and "most" rule. But since they are so dangerous and not protected by the Constitution I don't know why anyone would be surprised if there are some regulations. Anyone can purchase a pool with no background check regardless if they are a felon. For that matter a multiple felon with vehicular manslaughter conviction could walk into a dealership and purchase a new vehicle with no license, insurance, or background check so long as he has the cash. And they are not protected by the constitution. Yet that same person that can buy the much more dangerous pool and car will not be able to purchase a firearm legally. So I guess I miss your point. I mischaracterized someone and am behind the 8 ball. Gotcha That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  11. I was not responding to TK. He thinks that Florida is the entire US and that is a viewpoint so not worth even arguing. I have seen it before. I was responding to the person above as you can clearly tell if you just look at the name of the post I was responding to. You do not have to click on the actual post but just look to see that it was not tk or even the last poster. Usually if it is not the last poster listed there is a reason that you clicked reply on that post. It should not be necessary for everyone to quote posts all the time just because one too lazy to look at the name the post is in response to. In this case it says in the subject line..... Re: [Andy9o8] Toddler accidentally shoots and kills his mother in Idaho Wal-Mart...... which means I am responding to you. Who is behind the 8 ball? 12. Huh? Where I live there are zero and I mean zero regulations about pools. The last county I lived in had simple set back requirements as they do with sheds and other things. Another county I lived in had some for in ground but none for the way more popular above ground that you gain access with the ladder always attached. So you do not know nearly as much as you say about US laws. Try again. Further more all the states that I have lived in and I believe most in the US have a statute called something similar in name to the "recreational land use act". I protects the land owner from liability on his property as long is he is not financially benefiting from its recreational use above a certain threshold. I have a copy of it in my files from two different states. I have built enough motocross tracks on peoples property to be aware of the statute, relevant case law and at one time was well enough versed in with notes that I felt I could comfortably argue for summery judgement if an unfortunate lawsuit occurred. Anyone can sue for anything. Does not mean the case will go forward. And yes I am far more concerned that a neighborhood child could drown in a pool since the odds are so much higher. And don't fucking lie to me and say I am ok with halfwits leaving guns around. Just because you are scared of them does not mean you need to lie about my character. 13. Let me guess. Your kid swims. Therefore he gets enjoyment out of the pool. Since you would never let your kid around guns(making him much less safer in the long run if he encounters one and can not even simply clear the chamber or know how to handle it) banning guns does not take away from your enjoyment. It takes it away only from the evil parents that let their kids shoot guns, despite that fact that your pool has a far greater chance of causing and accidental death. Dude. Go away already. 14. You talked about children earlier Are you as concerned as much about swimming pool deaths with children? Since the Pool/ accidental Death ratio is so much much higher than the Gun/accidental death ratio why all the focus on firearms? 15. I am of no help with your question but if you go and pick it up my favorite restaurant is in Vernon Hills. Really great area. Also there is a 7 class up northern WI for a lot less but in no where as nice looking shape That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  16. For the record I never actually soaked it in anything. The rumor merely started when people realized I didn't get the joke. After the crash I went to a bar to check in see if I still had my unit intact as I was in a lot of pain I proceeded to get very intoxicated. When I woke up sore and hungover I looked outside at the totaled sled(I hit a snow bank from a plowed track for a car ice le mans race while running across the lake outdriving my headlight), and after examining the damage I went to take a leak. If you put a garden hose nozzle on the spray setting was the best way to describe what happened. I hit everything but the toilet. Walls, floor, ect. I had forgot about the injury to that area and had not even looked at it when I started to pee. The entire thing was black and blue with shades of yellow, the end was ripped open further and scabbed over. It was very ugly indeed. 17. Have CCW. Never really ever carried on my person other than hunting and rarely around the house/yard in certain situations. I have kept my Sidearm in the locked hard saddlebag of my Harley. Have discharged my p226 late one night on my girlfriends private property after some run ins with a known bad biker gang(I don't dig those pukes at all). I had a whole summer of getting attacked and ruined my golf game from injuries that someones head inflicted on my hand. I discharged only because they kept approaching after I warned that I had a weapon and they did not believe. The man was drunk and at that minute I realized he was unarmed(it was thought he would be) and I wished I was also. I considered throwing it into the brush and handling it another way but I had second to think and pointing behind my feet and squeezed a round into the dirt at 3 am, hit the decocker(SA/DA) and put the laser center mass and starting calling local dispatch. Scared the fuck out of him and was the last altercation with this one after 4 of them that summer. To be fair I did clearly warn him I was done fucking around and he was ruining my golf game and I was done fighting them. Of course all this could have been prevented by not deciding to ride with a bad biker gang and even more for letting them know how I feel about their dangerous behavior. I have got into a situation where I was extremely upset during rifle hunting season at someone from a neighboring camp who showed very poor judgement. When I came out of the woods and drove by their part on the 4 wheeler everyone was outside after just getting back. I drove to my Dad's cabin, got rid of my 1911, and went right back to have some serious word with the asshole. My brother thought I was crazy for taking the sidearm of first. Since it was kind of a semi open carry situation I never even considered another option. Zero need to add complexity to the situation. Turned out the other party's entire camp was on my side and felt stuck this guy was in their group That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! 18. Oh boy to I have a good one there. Stay tuned. All my friends told me to soak it in cider or so I thought and when they realized a week later i didn't get the inside her joke a rumor surfaced I was soaking my unit in apple cider. Was an ugly accident involving a snowmobile That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
  19. Sounds like a very busy, active life. Pretty much but there are some that would judge just based on reading a list and think I am just clumsy or lack talent for my activities. Reality is in some sports the higher the level you attain the more you expose yourself to injury. My tibial plateau is a prime example. Leading MX race almost wire to wire lapping half the field but right before a huge downhill on last lap and after being caught and in a battle with a local rider a lapped rider heard us coming and may have not known their was two of us. He moved over and clipped me right on the takeoff of a huge downhill that we were landing down in braking bumps. I should have gave him more room. Lappers should hold their line. It is what it is but nothing I could do to save it once contact was made. I landed crossed up with my bike down in the braking bumps. Riding in traffic, in mud trying to triple as fatigue sets in and track condition change can lead to crashes. One injury was training for a sno-x race. BMX as a kid. Half pipes, skateboards ect. Dislocated shoulder after doing a backdeep barefoot start and didn't see a wave and went down wrong. On and on. Never had a major injury snow skiing despite the terrain and speed I like to ski. Point is it is easy to look at someones injury list and say they should not take a sport up like skydiving because they are clumsy and injury prone when there is more to it. 21. I have been banned for a much less personal attack than that by the main moderators here. Interesting that you will not get a timeout however. Personally I would like to bitch slap you for your disregard for human decency as well as tell you how I really feel but will be careful to not engage in a personal attack like you choose to so I will keep my real thoughts of you to myself. Tens of thousands of people carry concealed shopping everyday in the US. The mere act of taking out your weapon to leave it in the car for your trip into the store can present problems in itself. What if the car gets stolen? Then you would bitch that how could someone take it out and leave it in their car!! Obviously women that carry in a purse need to take extra precautions over a man that is carrying under shoulder or IWB. In this case someone made a poor choice in not paying attention to their purse around that many kids. I personally do not carry despite the ability to do so and anyone I know would not leave a purse with handgun in front of a two year old. But that has nothing to do with carrying a gun into walmart!!! That carelessness could have happened anywhere including the home so why you chose to jump all over that she brought it into walmart is ludicrous. This sounds like simple complacency and the fact that you do not feel bad for the victim, who I agree is the 2 year old child as well, shows so much for your character. I really hope you get a time out for calling another member mentally ill but you are on the right side of the fence to get away with a bit more. You think that no guns = no violence and you are sadly mistaken. Not in this country you claim to be from with all the cultural differences here. And while I do not carry except the rarest occasions(usually bow hunting in dangerous game infested areas), I have actually discharged a firearm in a late night threatening trespassing disturbance. 22. Accident prone? Nah just unlucky maybe? 3 broken Clavicles 1 Scapula 2 Navicular(wrist) 1 radius 1 ulna distal tib/fib (Pilon fracture) another distal tib (Pilon) w/o fib 2cm displaced 6" vert Tibial Plateau ligament with accompanying tears 1 displaced major toe (more painful than one would think) 1 greater tuberosity all separate injuries. And then there are the fingers, knuckles, little toes, orbital bone and ribs. Plus some pieces of vertebrae. Would you really call that accident prone? 23. Never underestimate the value of ladder safety. Yeah, but how many injured skydivers in emergency rooms, in their zeal to protect their sport, blame their injuries on falling off a ladder? Lots. I think ladders get a bad rap. Ladders are widow makers and I have spent much time on them, but I do agree with what your saying. I have falling off a bunch of roofs in the winter according to medical reports with various injuries. Except I really have never fell of a roof and got hurt. Nor have I skydiving though for that matter. 11 ortho surgeries and many non surgical broken bones yet skydiving has been by far the safest sport I have done despite my antics That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! 24. Hope this is not taken wrong but I find it a bit funny. I would have never thought to describe a reserve opening as on heading. As long as it is not in line twists I wouldn't even think of it. Just never paid attention is all. Maybe just me because mine were all under sub 80 mains with shit happening fast and they probably were fairly on heading but I just found humor in it for my own personal values. A 45-90 off is not something I think I would notice much or at least chalk it up to the canopy itself. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! 25. Walked down a ladder not facing it? Even if not it is amazing the amount of people that will take such a risk without even thinking about it until they fall forward. So worth mentioning. Lot's of stuff about ladders that are dangerous. Especially step ladders without proper footing. I have worked plenty on ladders and hauled serious weight up them and or extended away from them with saws or what not. But now days they sometimes scare the hell out of me. Panic scared a couple times this year. Widow makers. That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side.
