  1. I imagine this would be your best bet. It kinda hinders having the week off and moving every few weeks, but it would still kinda support the backpacker lifestyle. 4-6 months in one spot then off the next. I'm gonna try to strike out as a packers this fall and that is my plan, work a season then off to the next. Maybe even a slight chance of moving abroad, at least I really hope so.
  2. I've found that sometimes wireless cards and routers just wont mesh. Don't know why but they just wont be friends. A little trick I've found that can work is to set up a guest network through your router control. If the computer connects properly that way then you know that it has something to do with the security settings. If for some reason you can't get it to connect after playing with the security settings then leave the guest network open (no security), change the channel and guest network name, and set the SSID to not broadcast. Then you have to manually locate the network with the computer. I've had to do this a handful of times. Also check to see if there is any updates for both your router and wireless card.
  3. I understand why its BMW top selling bike, I haven't had a single issue with it this whole time. I like the smaller ones but the 1200GS is a bit more comfortable for touring and I barely notice the weight of my panniers.
  4. Bought an '06 BMW R1200GS in 2009. Put about 60k on it in about a year and a half (closer to 70k now). So far have buried it in snow, sand, and mud. Toured through 26 states and camped on the shores of three oceans. Been a great bike and I will keep it till it no longer runs. Got my motorcycle endorsement in '08 and its been a hell of an adventure.
  5. The only reason I would want to be rich and famous is for opportunities like that. My grandpa worked around the SR71 while it was in the testing phases and still classified. I can listen to him tell the same stories over and over and I never get tired of them.
  6. So the roommate who discharged a gun in a house and accidently shoots his roommate in the chest isn't arrested and charges are possible depending on the prosecutors decision...interesting
  7. Not a bad movie and it gave me the idea. I've been wanting to thru-hike the Appalachian Trail for a few years but now thinking I might use the Camino as a warm-up.
  8. Buy a ticket to Spain and walk the Camino de Santiago trail.
  9. My DZ uses half a wrestling mat. Don't know where they got it but sure is nice on the knees
  10. I know exactly what your talking about. I had one on the back of my neck that was like a golf ball cut in half under the skin, my doctors called it a lypoma. I had it for about 7 years and hated getting my hair cut because it was just below the hair line and above the collar line and was super self-consensus about it. To get it removed was considered cosmetic surgery and my insurance wouldn't cover it. One night after being out with friends and had several people comment about it, I decided to do something about it. I sterilized the area and a new pointy exacto knife, numbed it with an ice cube and punctured it. I knew I succeeded when I was greeted with a nasty smell. Spent the next 45 mins squeezing all the crap out if it. Nastiest thing I have ever done. If your close enough with him then bring it up on confidence. He know about it and probably hates having it, I know I did. You seem to know what your talking about and sound like you could personally help him with this.
  11. ahh its probably for the best cause I've moved about 4 times since then.
  12. Told my last gf I was moving to Hawaii in a couple weeks and I don't do long distance. She thought I was joking and even drove me to the airport. Said goodbye and its been a pleasure and walked into the airport. Six hours later when I arrive in Kona and turn on my phone I have like 20 voicemails, she finally realized I wasn't joking. I probably should have handled it better cause I think she jinxed me. That was 7 years ago and haven't been in a relationship since.
  13. I watched it twice and laughed just as much both times.
  14. Be good, Santa is Watching Possibly NSFW
  15. Just let the instructor know your going for your license and they might help you a bit more then the other people in your group. You'll more than likely have to take the instruction course before you go in the tunnel if this is your first time. Its just a quick video and a review of hand signals. Expect it to wear you out a bit and you might even find yourself a little sore the next day, I know I did. A key thing is just to relax and not fight it. I also find it helps to not think to much about what your trying to do and just do it, if that makes any sense. But most of all expect to have a blast. I've loved every minute that I've been in the tunnel.
  16. SVCO is $15/min At my DZ jump ticket is $25, with rental is $50, and my student cost is $70. My DZ is at 5400ft and we can only get to 9500ft AGL (which is like 14,500MSL) and you only get like 35 sec of freefall. So in the tunnel I almost get 2 real freefalls to one minute of tunnel time. So for me it seems like a decent investment.
  17. Your doing a wonderful thing jclalor. I donated bone marrow a little over a year ago to a 11yo girl and it is by far the most rewarding thing I've ever done. Shoot me a PM, I'd be more then happy to pitch in.
  18. I think my dad still has an old mallard phone in the attic at his house. I used to play with it when I was little. I know we still have my grandpa's old wooden duck decoys and I've heard those can go for a pretty penny.
  19. I shanked my lover because hoes keep stealing my tacos.
  20. I think motorcycle sales are up in part because of gas prices. I can go 250 miles on $16 of fuel. And unless the youths come money or have a decent job, its easier for them to afford a $500 ipad over a $17k motorcycle. With the way things are now I imagine its harder for the younger generation to get financing for a bike. For the last 4 years a motorcycle has been the only mode of transportation that I've owned. I recently bought a $300 car just so I can deal with the colorado winters.
  21. I'm a noob so take this with a grain of salt. I imagine some elbow, knees, and hip pads might be ok to wear under a jump suit as long as they don't restrict your movements. Maybe even some padded bicyclist shorts to help your bum, until you get your PLF to become second nature. I've practiced PLFs by jumping off a small stool in the yard. Once I felt pretty smooth at that height I moved to a chair then a short ladder. Now I feel pretty comfortable about my PLF. You might be closing your eyes on landing, which is not helping you, or it could that your brain is just blacking it out because landing is your big fear. I don't remember the first second or so of my first 4 jumps, never saw the plane fly away until jump 5. Time and conditioning your brain is what corrects the memory blackout. My landings on radio were worse then my landings have been off radio. Have some faith in yourself and while your on radio have some faith in the radioman. They don't want to see you get hurt anymore then you want to get hurt.
  22. Do you owe then a lot? Or you have enough savings to pay them back shortly after leaving? Would your last pay take a good chunk out of it allowing you to afford to pay them back? Your responsible for paying back what you've drawn against your commission and they are working with you now but after you leave, they will want what you owe them and probably in a timely manner. Otherwise I agree with wildcard451.
  23. http://vimeo.com/31498113 -Made clicky- Sweet video. You BASE guys are crazy! But I'd love to see some in person.
  24. Id love to see something like that in person. You dont hear much about it in the US though.
