  1. I only have one in the cartlidge but it took less than a month to heal. It all depends on the person as to how fast it will heal. You can always put a band-aid over it to hide it. Christina
  2. How about doing some shrimp and chicken on kabob skewers with some vegies like green peppers and mushrooms mixed in? You can put the shrimp/chicken in a marinade ahead of time for extra flavor. Then they're real easy to throw on the grill if you have nice weather and a patio. Goes good with margeritas too in case she doesn't like wine. Christina
  3. That's the only thing stopping me. Not sure if I'm gonna have kids or not, but if I do I will nurse them. I'll make up my mind one day. Just wanted to comment on this misperception. Piercing will "injure" ~25% of your milk ducts but that leaves you ~75% of them still working and nursing requires significantly less than that. To nurse all you have to do is take out the jewelry and let the piercings close. I know multiple women who have been pierced that have later nursed successfully. I also know a number of women who were never pierced that are still unable to nurse successfully. Piercing has little to do with it. Look it up or ask a doctor if you don't believe me. On the topic of the thread, I like mine. I like the way they look and the way they feel after they've healed. Mine have never been a problem skydiving but if I ever were to jump topless they would be getting taped down or briefly removed to ensure no snagging. Christina
  4. Thanks Wendy! While the scale hasn't been moving very quickly for me either a couple people have commented over the past week or so that it looks like I've lost weight so it must be paying off! Keep up the good work! Being fit is what matters most anyways. Christina
  5. If I was hurt, tons of medical bills and starving and someone gave me money out of the kindness of their heart. I would eat before paying medical bills. If I don't have squat then they can sue me all they want and all they'll get is squat. But I got have food to survive. And I'm surprised this hasn't come up but if you have no job, no money, no possessions to be sold for $, and huge medical bills why not file bankrupcty? Even with the bankrupcty laws getting tougher it's still not impossible. Not that it's right but it's a possible solution when there aren't many to choose from. Christina
  6. I'm -1 for the week. Heading in the right direction! If I've been keeping this straight, that means I've lost 10 lb since I started this at the beginning of the year. Only 45 more to go. Christina
  7. There's a picture of Tom Cruise in the cafe at Deland.
  8. My deepest condolences to J. Mike and his family. Christina
  9. I've had some landing issues, have seen video, and now doing quite a bit better. Like AggieDave said, finishing the flare makes a huge difference. After taking Scott Miller's canopy control course and practicing outloud saying "finish" at the end of the flare helped a bunches. But then my arms would get tired after 1-2 jumps especially when doing a lot of practice flares up high. So that's where the strength training has helped too. I also had a tendency to want to pick my feet up as the ground approaches, delaying touching down, the result being a lot of butt slides, not good. Even if you flare high or low make sure your feet touch down first and PLF if needed, very important and will save much pain. The other thing I needed was confidence. After having so many bed landings all the time I was sure every one was going to be bad, and with thinking like that I was almost always was right. I had to change my mentality before I could do it right and believe in myself that I really do know what I'm doing. Don't know if any of that will help you but that's been my experience. Good luck. Christina
  10. I have a Racer 2K3 that is a S-1. Not sure what the correlates to in inches. I have a full length (low profile) reserve handle and was told there was not an extra room left over. I think they have sizes as small as an XS-1 on the order form for the Racers. Christina
  11. The "rush" I get during/after a piercing (or tatoo) could be compared to the rush of skydiving. Sure it's painful but it's exciting. Like skydiving it makes me feel more alive. I think they look pretty cool too. I've always said that I think it would be cool to have enough piercings that they set off the metal detectors. Christina
  12. I really like piercings in general and the corset pics are awesome. I wish I could afford to get more. I have a few now and lot more planned. Christina
  13. The newsletter is posted on the public company website. Anyone anywhere can go to the company website and find this newsletter if they tried. So, I'm not posting anything that isn't already public. Thanks for the heads up. Christina
  14. A while back I posted that my work was doing a write up on me about skydiving for the company newsletter. Well, it's out! Everyone has been coming by my desk all day to ask questions. If you want to see go here: http://www.lockheedmartin.com/wms/findPage.do?dsp=fec&ci=16322&rsbci=21&fti=0&ti=0&sc=400 Christina

    Treeclimber?

Not when I was a kid... All the other kids used to think I was crazy for climbing trees because what if you fall. Kind of like everybody thinks I'm crazy for jumping out of airplanes. Christina

    Treeclimber?

So, per the poll right now - 96% of skydivers are treeclimbers. Wonder if it works the other way around? Are all treeclimbers, skydivers? If your kid is out climbing trees how likely are they to become a skydiver? Christina

    Treeclimber?

My husband thinks that all (or a very large %) of skydivers were treeclimbers as kids. We asked around the DZ one day and it did appear to be a large % that were treeclimbers. So did you climb trees when you were a kid? Christina
  18. I think a lot of people are selling themselves short. I may not be Buckminster Fuller or Alexander the Great but I am extremely proud of what I have accplished. I don't think it's egotistical to be proud of your accomplishments and to have a good self-esteem. I graduated college in 3 years with an engineering degree. I was also the first person in my family to go to college. I have made over 400 skydives. I've found the love of my life. I've traveled quite a bit, especially being an Army brat. I saw the wall in Berlin before it came down. I've been to France, Canada, Mexico, Turkey, Korea. I've gone white water rafting down the Colorado river. I have (had) a black belt in Taekwondo. I proudly hang my paintings on my living room walls. And I designed my own tatoo. I just got the highest performance rating possible at work. And I work on the External Tank for the Space Shuttle. I expect something good to happen for me today. Come on and speak up. I'm sure all of you have done some things that the majority of the world would never dream of doing. Christina
  19. I also took Scott's class with an elliptical canopy. He only had me do the rear riser stalls. He does cover in the class that more things can go wrong when stalling an elliptical canopy. I was also going to rent gear to do the toggle stall but couldn't find gear to fit. Still seeing the video and knowing what to expect was a big help when I accidently stalled my canopy the other day doing practice flares up high. Christina
  20. Here's a couple of us at our wedding/honeymoon. We got married in the Skyvan at Deland and for our honeymoon we both took Scott Miller's canopy control course! We also hung out over at Daytona beach for a couple of days. We figured why spend money on an expensive wedding/honeymoon when we can skydive instead. Christina
  21. I wanted to be at 500 jumps by my 3 year sky anniverserary (April 24th). I'm going to be ~70 jumps short. So now I just want to make it to 500 this season. Christina
  22. You can't take a pair of fingernail clippers or even a lighter anymore but the other day I watched a woman go through with a set of metal knitting needles! I just don't get it. Christina
