Dude thats awsome!! I got to go with my little girl (16 year old) recently. It was without a doubt the most stressfull skydive I have been on in a while. I wasn't the tandem master (no rating for them to take when I make the "list" by posting this) but I did shoot the video and stills (along with the other guys in the video concession, there were 4 vidiots in all and it seems we got the shot). I would post a pic or 50 but it seems that a "list" is being compiled, and I would not want anyone that I care about to be on said "list". I understand what you mean. I have seen them from others. I would be the only guy at the dz shooting that way and don't want to get into the whole thing about explaining (I run the concession so I would be the one taking the heat) why other students can't get them that way. My wife got me a Rebel XT for our anniversary last week When I went to mount it on my helmet the holes don't line up.... The helmet is a flat top narrow. What I have used in the past is a canon rebel 2000. It looks like the Rebel XT is about 1/2 inch "thicker" than the 2000 is. If I drill the hole to mount the XT it would be so close to the hole for the 2000 that it would be a slot. I still plan to use the 2000 for tandem stills but want to use the XT for RW stills. Will it cause the 2000 to move if I make it into a slot (I use a standard thumb screw to hold it in place)? I have not altered the bracket in any way from the way it came from Bonehead (other than drilling the hole for the 2000). Any suggestions? Thank you for taking the time to reply. I wasn't trying to start the whole skyhook/rsl or not argument. I think both have great merit, it just seems that when shooting camera they can cause me some problems. I also think that its very possible that they could also save my ass someday. I hadn't looked at it that way. It makes more sense now that you put it that way. I read it as he was thinking that I should cut away my helmet before cutting away my main (on any malfunction because the wording was having a riser snag after cutting away). Most camera guys I know will not jump camera with an RSL... Thats what prompted me to post in the beginning. I am pro skyhook, it just scares me since I shoot mostly video and stills when I jump. I was trying to understand better as I would like to look at having one on my rig (but not until there is some evidence to prove it does not have the same issues as an RSL where camera is concerned). Mr. Booth, Please don't take this as me being my normal smartass self. I greatly value your opinion and feel that you experience far out weighs what little I have. But i'm confused... If I break away from a 3"G" spinner and the mess becomes entangled with my helmet. How will having a skyhook help me? The turn rate of a 3"G" spin would be very high, and if the main is entangled with my helmet (and is still spinning like in your example) how would deploying a reserve into the mess help the situation? I realize there are many many different situations that can arise and not all of them will have a cookie cutter answer. But in the example you give how would the skyhook be a benefit and not a detriment? Again, please do not feel that I am just picking apart what you wrote. I truly am trying to understand what you mean. I realize that before impact some chance is better than no chance. What I am talking about is where the video guy has pulled higher (as is usually the case) and has a little time to deal with his situation. This is very true. I was in a king air when a girl exiting had her D-bag hit the door sill as she climbed out (back outside the plane). The diesel fuel is really not a concern (regarding a explosive blast). The gasoline on the other hand could be. Remember that its the fumes that make it that way. If the fuel is on the ground it would not really explode, but would make a HUGH fire. There would probly be a "flash" from the fumes burning (pour a little fuel on a bon fire to light it on a cool night, wait a few seconds before you light it and watch what happens), but not a earth shattering explosion like you would see in the movies. If however the tanker were to be struck by something that could cause the fumes inside the tank itself to burn then that is another story (but thats really not very likely).
