  1. Indeed, and for many reasons, but not the on you mention on 'toggles flopping about in the wind'. If thats the case, I suggest visiting a rigger and having the length of your breaklines checked, as on every normal trim/breaksetting the toggles will end up hugging the grommit/ring on the riser. Controlability and flying speed seem of much higher importance, than the 'floppy toggles' you mention. It is a phrase, you are taking it too literally. Thanks for caring. 2. It has all been discussed before, also without a consensus. http://www.dropzone.com/forum/Skydiving_C1/Instructors_F37/Never_Let_Go_Of_Your_Toggles_Once_Released_P3193708/ Summer Rental special, 5 weeks for the price of 4! 3. Your concern is valid but I think you are fixing it the wrong way. There have also been incidents where released toggles have become tied up in the lines. Best bet is to open high enough to do your house cleaning and then pop toggles by a good decision altitude. For me I like to be done with all tasks and pop toggles by 1800. I was taught a long time ago that once you had the toggles securely in your hands you should keep them there. It makes sense not to have them flapping around in the wind. It actually has nothing to do with wingsuiting, we just happen to have a few extra things to do. Summer Rental special, 5 weeks for the price of 4! That is $160 a month. 4. I would also add an R-Bird to that list of suits to try. Also, depending on if you need to buy before or after winter you mind find it worth waiting. TS has some new R&D going on an agile flocking, backfly, dynamic kind of suit this winter. Would expect a release in the spring. Summer Rental special, 5 weeks for the price of 4! 5. Not 100%, and the CEO should not be compensated $311,000. Hardly respectable (unless you are the CEO). Looks like this charity was set up to make money for the top executives. It's legal, but it's wrong. [url]http://asknod.wordpress.com/2013/08/19/wounded-warriors-project-a-scam/ Why shouldn't someone running and expanding a business be compensated well? Do you think you get the best from industry by paying peanuts? A non-profit is still a business you know. I like to see executive pay tied to performance but you don't tend to be able to slack at the top very long. The last few years have been hard on charities and keeping some even afloat has been a challenge. Summer Rental special, 5 weeks for the price of 4! That is $160 a month. 7. I didn't pay too much attention to the wind as we were all on the same load and it was close to calm. I heard we had about 10@300 which would be a tail wind but not by much. It certainly wasn't a head wind. It does go to show the kind of sustained GR you get when wind is taken out of it. The best run was Lurch with a 2.335km at 2.7. My best was a 2.4. 8. This was a great event. Smoothest US Cup so far by a long way thanks to the organizers, DZ and participants, at least I thought so. Everything seemed to work and there was a great vibe. A great show by all both Open and Intermediate. Hope to see more people showing their stuff next year! Summer Rental special, 5 weeks for the price of 4! That is $160 a month. 9. If you stand at the finish line of a base base you will see people going up with your own eyes. That is only personal proof of course. I don't think it is that useful in the wingsuit world though. With enough speed you can go up a bit but I don't think we will see people try and use this technique for any practical purpose. In the race it is just a side effect of going from bloody fast to slow for deployment. The purpose isn't really to buy a few more meters of altitude. A couple of guys call the move the "cobra". I just call it "please don't hurt me canopy". Summer Rental special, 5 weeks for the price of 4! That is $160 a month. Try before You Buy with Wicked Wingsuits - WingsuitRental.com
  10. Intrudair make a good quality suit. TonySuits isn't anywhere near a 15-16 week lead time right now. If you call I think you will find it closer to 6-8 weeks. Summer Rental special, 5 weeks for the price of 4! That is $160 a month. Try before You Buy with Wicked Wingsuits - WingsuitRental.com
  11. The first thing to know is there are multiple suits with the same design flown by Jhonny. Including Apache II and Scorpion. The second thing to accept is that the Scorpion is based on the proportions of an S Bird. If you consider an S Bird to be a huge mega mattress then yes it is massive. Personally I don't but I do caution people that once the tail goes below the feet some really scary stuff can happen quickly. This is why we have less than a dozen rental S Birds. This isn't a marketing ploy. I am not a TonySuit dealer just a rental agent and we do not rent Scoprions at this time. I just happen to think this is a wonderful suit which exists because I personally don't like to fly mega suits. The sad part is my original post was in agreement with your point. You don't need the biggest suits on the market to do well and the trend of going bigger and bigger reaches diminishing returns. The right skills with the right sized suit will take care of real business. Summer Rental special, 5 weeks for the price of 4! That is $160 a month. 12. I hope you're also joking there.....the suit Jhonny flew was 'huge'!!! Ummm... Not arguing with most of what you wrote, but for those who haven't seen it, a Scorpion (the suit Jhonny flew) is almost exactly the same size as an S-bird. It has a different wing shape than an S-bird (arm wing is slightly swept back, lower tail root), but is otherwise nearly identical. Source: I had one briefly by accident. Right, the basic concept is simple. "Take an Apache and shrink it to the size of an S-Bird". Summer Rental special, 5 weeks for the price of 4! That is $160 a month. 13. It actually wasn't huge at all, it is the same suit that Roberta and I fly. It is big but nothing compared to the huge suits. The point is you don't need to be in the biggest suit on the market to do good things. He was flying an Apache II in practice and switched over to the Scoprion. So while his flying is above many the suit did indeed make a difference. You probably haven't seen one as there are still less than a dozen out there. 14. Jhonny Florez just proved you don't need a big suit to be the "best". He won the WWL in a suit that is based on the size of an S-Bird. Still actually a biggish suit but certainly a break from the trend of mega-mattress. Most folks would do well to take a step back from the size of the suit and look in the mirror. I will be bringing my Apache Scorpion to the US Performance Cup and am looking forward to taking on some huge suits. Summer Rental special, 5 weeks for the price of 4! That is $160 a month. 16. I have been to a few places that gave us a refund for riding the plane down, I don't expect it. On the other hand some places have a 10 minutes cut off and if you don't pull by then you pay even if you don't get on. Personally my life and limbs are worth $25 if I decide to scratch. 17. I think the instructor usually provides the suit for the course, and if you do it at z-hills then there is a huge chance that it will be a wicked wingsuit you use. Think Robert Harris is offering the course there now. This is true. In most cases we prefer renters to already have taken a FFC and have a handful of flights. Sometimes the instructors don't have suits available so we will rent to a student if we know more about their plans. There are a few dropzones that happen to have a supply of our suits on hand, they include: Zhills, Skydive Dallas, Moab Over The Edge and Skydive Interlakken. Zhills and Interlakken have the advantage of not only having I-Bird (beginner) suits but a full range up to S Bird available. Last year we ran the school in Zhills because we had plans that kept us there over the winter. Rob Harris is running the school this year. Summer Rental special, 5 weeks for the price of 4! 19. We have done a bunch using a heat press at about 315f. Haven't seen any damage done to the suit but all of our best results come from printing before the sewing is done. That also greatly reduces the risk of destroying a suit. We did a couple of suits as a test early on and I had trouble getting even pressure over the stitching. Take a look at Tony and Jhonnys suits for examples. Some of the ones that weren't put on too well started to come off. https://scontent-a-dfw.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn2/1233631_10153291191310571_2138071066_n.jpg Summer Rental special, 5 weeks for the price of 4! 20. Rumor I hear is the next changes will be more about back flying than the high end performance. I could be wrong. Summer Rental special, 5 weeks for the price of 4! That is $160 a month. Try before You Buy with Wicked Wingsuits - WingsuitRental.com
  21. favorable conditions = tail wind. Personally I think there is a much smaller difference in performance between this high end suits than there is difference between pilots. I would also be interested in an objective review from the same pilot who has flown these suits to the same levels. Not just a handful of jumps on each but a true relationship with the suit. 22. This is the same question people always ask when they want to downsize canopies. I don't think "How many jumps?" is the right question. I know a few canopy checklists are out there and before downsizing you need to be able to repeatedly get the canopy to perform in many different ways. Check out: http://www.dropzone.com/safety/Canopy_Control/Downsizing_Checklist_47.html The same is true of wing suit progression. You can put a minimum number on it but never a max as it can be so different depending on the person, coaching, drop zone, currency, etc. Personally I don't feel like I am even starting to get a clue about a suit until I have banged out at least 20 jumps on one. To really feel like I am getting in tune with a suit it seems to be closer to 100. That is why I tend to fly the same suit for so long, it is a big invest of time to get to know how to fly one really well and just switching to a "better" suit is not just going to work in a handful of jumps. I am only flying on my 3rd regular suit, having jumper many others but really only feeling 100% in 3 of them. Summer Rental special, 5 weeks for the price of 4! That is $160 a month. 24. Thats the real way to solve the problem. A single cable could cut away multiple cameras. I have a bunch of those hooks around my house that are glued on using a tape that detaches when pulled. Seems like there is a chemical solution there also. http://www.command.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/NACommand/?WT.mc_id=www.command.com&WT.ctod=13:14 Summer Rental special, 5 weeks for the price of 4! 25. This was the main reason we started renting suits. Folks that had their eye on a larger suit but needing to invest time on smaller suits as part of a sensible progression.
