  1. Phillip, I don't have the data for the record jump yet, but one of the last jumps with a similar size was falling around 100mph. Here is the chart for this jump. Klaus My Logbook
  2. It's not that we don't have (miniDV) cameras with DV-In/Analog-In in Europe. Cameras which can record something from an input source are treated as video-recorders and have extra duties on them, about $100-200 per unit :-( As to many cameras had DV-In re-enabled via software, the regulation was changed so that all cameras which can be DV-In enabled are treated as a video-recorders. Isn't it a crazy world? Klaus BTW: We even have high-speed internet access over here ;-) My Logbook
  3. Hmmh, Canon lists RC-1/ RC-5/ RS-60E3 as Remote Controllers/Switches for this camera. At least the RS-60E3 seems to be a simple switch. It is listed to be compatible with the analogue Rebel and judging by the look and price (~ $25) I doubt it contains any electronic gimmicks. Drop Ed from Conceptus an email, I'm sure he'll get out of his way to find a solution. Let us know how it works out.. HTH, Klaus My Logbook
  4. Minolta has a wireless remote control feature for the flash which uses the built-in flash by somehow encoding control signals on the flash. The sensor for this is on the front of the flash. Other than that, just make sure your camera/lens does not cast a shadow on the subject. HTH, Klaus My Logbook
  5. Thanks for the info. This was exactly what I was afraid off. Guess I'll wait until I can try one myself. My Logbook
  6. Just announced this morning in Germany: DSLR, 6MP, interchangeable 18-55mm Lens (29-88mm equiv.), EF lenses can be uesed, 2.5 pics/s (up to 4), remote release, 560g excl. lens. Guess, I'll cancel my order for the Minolta A1... My Logbook
  7. The remote is a simple 2-way plug - the same one used on the anlaog Dynax/Maxxum line. I'm succesfully using a Conceptus switch spliced to both the plug of an original Minolta Release (RS-/RL-1000?). A simple 3pin PC-board plug with 2mm pin distance works as well. BTW, I have my A1 on order :-) Klaus My Logbook
  8. Actually there might be one: ATC records their radar data for 30 days. Should be interesting to check the track of the drop plane. :-) My Logbook
  9. This link shows you all the german DZs in Germany with background information: http://www.skydiver.de/restauration/dropzones/de/platzkarte.html HTH, Klaus Hint: Frankfurt is pretty much in the middle of Germany My Logbook
  10. Don't know about RW, but I'm thinking about getting a new video suit with legs similar to the pantz instead of booties. Should provide lot's of lift when belly down and deflate when flying in a sit/on my back. Booties tend to catch air... My Logbook
  11. Ok, had some spare time at work and found this: http://www.e-photobase.de! Guess now I don't have any excuses left not to buy a digital camera.... My Logbook
  12. Found one: http://www.pixum.de/ Thanks for the hint. Unfortunatly, they don't offer 'Pro-Galleries' where you can set your own prices. Klaus My Logbook
  13. Deuce, I'm succesfully using a Dell Inspiron 8100 (P4/1.8, 512k, 40GB, Firewire) for over a year now. HTH, Klaus My Logbook
  14. Is it? Pulling the the release just opens the 3-ring release, the container stays closed. The drogue will immedialy release and probably collapse when thrown, but it will open the container in the correct sequence nevertheless. I guess what you're referring to - and what is prevented by the Sigma - is the container somehow opening while the droge is not released. My Logbook

  17. Deuce, what's his experience with the Dimage? I'm considering getting one... Thanks, Klaus My Logbook
  18. I'm sucessfully using a Dell Insoiron 8200 (1.8GHz P4, 512MB, 40GB + built-in FireWire) for the last year... HTH, Klaus My Logbook

  20. John, stress research shows that haering is the first sense to be 'switched off' by our brain in a stress situation. You still hear the sound, but your brain just doesn't process it any more. High pitched sirens seem to make it through better, though. Try googling for 'information overload'. HTH, Klaus My Logbook
  21. Hmmmh, if I read correctly the area has an elevation of ~4.000ft. That would make for 20000ft MSL!!! Is oxygen included in the ticket price? Or does the smiley mean it's 16k MSL? I guess I'd have to look for a larger canopy as well. 4k landing field elevation combined with 40°C will make for some 'interesting' landings... and/or some very long swoops :-) My Logbook
  22. Nasty situation, but how did she get a grip on your thumb in the first place? I knew there had to be a reson for those secondary releases... My Logbook
