Laura, if you're talking about the PdF Slinks with the metal ring: AFAIK they must only be used with PdF's risers. Those risers have half a snap inside the loop at the end of the riser which secures the metal ring. But what do I know... Klaus My Logbook

Both cold, try the third german-speaking country. Allthough I bet you won't find a translator for what they wrote. If you want to see more pics from the Oktoberfest, try www.oktoberfest.de My Logbook

Finally someone said the magic word! Ever tried imported Franziskaner? You can get it bottled in some supermarkets (at least I know one in SJC), and some bars and in Dallas there was (is?) a beer-bar (Gingerman?), where you can get it on tap. This is what to look out for: http://www.franziskaner.info/ And don't forget to add a slice of lemon.... My Logbook

Da hast Du aber einen weiten Weg vor Dir - Hamburg, auch wenn ich zur Zeit unter der Woche immer in München bin. Hmmmh, wir könnten das Ganze ja auch auf dem Oktoberfest reglen... My Logbook

Larry, I know of one case where a double stowed rubber band knotted up, hooked on the grommet and caused a bag lock. So my advice is to never double stow the rubber bands going through grommets. Turning 180 should not only be quicker, it wiill give you more room as well - your canopy will surge forward several feet forward on opening... Klaus Oh, and the LAST point should be turned on rebound ;) My Logbook

Tailgate Exits (Was - What filters do you use?)
vidiot replied to Deuce's topic in Photography and Video
Deuce, as you are jumping in Byron, talk to Chris deBar regarding video-exits from the Herc. He gave me some good advice during the last Herc-Boogie. Oh, and say hello to him from me... Klaus My Logbook -
After relying on GPS for for spotting, using GPS for the canopy ride will be next step... ... Two times I wished I had one of those little handheld units with me TD-Master to Pax: ' Relax, I know exactly were we are... My Logbook

Politicially sensitive and efficient code: if (posterhas == "a_penis") { if (postcount >=0 && postcount < 100) { result = "Embryo"; } else if (postcount < 300) { result = "Prepubescent Teenager"; } else if (postcount < 500) { result = "Just discovering beer"; } else if (postcount < 1000) { result = "Your average DZ.com Post-Whore"; } .... } else { // You get the picture. } Ok, time to finish my wine and go to bed... As you hardly get run over from behind when under canopy, I tend to mount it facing forward. BTW, anyone noticed how everthing seems to be itensified during a night jump? Time seems to pass slower, the wind seems to be much noisier, the wind pressure seems to be much stonger... Maybe because you concentrate more on these sensations as your brain is not flooded by the visuals? My Logbook

Matt, I guess they fooled you into buying beer. Running over the beer line is ok, it's the first contact that counts. At least those are the rules over here. Thinking twice, maybe I should'nt have said this... Klaus My Logbook

Saw a video of this last winter in Castellon: Drogueless tandem (both experienced freeflyers) docked by two Headdowners. Cool! IIRC the were from 'Team Atmonauti' a well known fernch team. My Logbook

Jeff, did I get this right: You use the little built-in flash in freefall? I'd be afraid of it either getting ripped off by the relative wind, getting kicked off on exit, or catching something on deployment... Opinions? Klaus My Logbook

While we're at it... Does anybody know what kind of remaote jack Minoltas have? I'm seriously considering getting a Dynax 4/5. Oh, and do you trust those tripod quick-releases to top-mount an SLR? Klaus (currently jumping a homemade Skycam ) My Logbook

Rhino, I had the same annoying problem. You might want to try this to get rid of the 'bump': Have your rigger replace your upper and lower steering line by a continuous line which has a short line fingertrapped into it where the two former lines joined. The fingertrapped line should run parallel to the brake line and be tight against the brakeline when the brakeline is pulled tight. This eliminates the two interconnected loops in the brake line which cause the bump but leaves you with an eye to set the brakes. Regards, Klaus

Any opinions regarding choosing between a Sony PC-8 and PC-9. From what I can see from the description, the only diffence is the memory card and the features associated with it. All the 'important' stuff seems to be identical. Oh, I forgot - the other difference is $400 :-) K.
