  1. Did a nice beach jump with my daughter (9 1/2) this New Years Eve. Her girl friend did her third one on this occasion. Admittedly, both are 'DZ Kids'. Edited: There's no legal age limit for Tandems over here, although 12 is a recommended minimum age. Klaus My Logbook
  2. is it average or you max average ? what is your max ? can you show any graphs with 250 average ? As I'm currently writing software to display those graphs, I can show you any average you want.
  3. Gern geschehen! I appreciate your positive feedback. Please bear in mind though that this is an early preview, so several areas are still work in progress. This is one of those areas.... Now you can choose the gear from a pick list in the details view which offers the gears you have entered in your preferences. This will store the description of the gear you selected in the jump record, so if you change a gear in your preferences, old entries will be preserved. Do you have specific areas in mind? Except for the areas which were not fully implemented, I thought the instructions together with sample data would be more then enough. Let me know iif you have any further suggstions. Sure, pleas send me a PM with your email address and I'll add you to my mailing list. The next version, which you can expect by the end of next week will offer several enhancements, the most interesting being support for downloading and displaying ProTrack jump data and profiles (as you can already see in the Screenshot) and full integration with Paralog Companion for the Palm (Profile, Gear and Preferences). Regards, Klaus My Logbook
  4. Interesting link, thanks! My Logbook
  5. Pedro, have a look at the early preview of Paralog at http://krheinwald.bei.t-online.de/Paralog/. Klaus My Logbook

    How much?

AFAIK, if you include your serial number or any other proof of purchase for the sw, they will sell you a cable alone. HTH, Klaus My Logbook
  7. Exactly! And convert them back to imperial units while they're at it! My Logbook
  8. Let's try to get back to the original topic: Please post your average fallrates for the different jump types you do, based on your ProTrack readings, e.g: RW: 120mph Freefly: 180mph Speed: 250mph Wingsuit: 80mph Please state SAS/TAS, whatever makes you happy... I'll summarize and post the results later. Thanks for your help! Klaus My Logbook
  9. Who mentioned "Dum^H^H^HSmart"? My Logbook
  10. Those are still the same numbers you posted hours ago in the freefly forum. Why all the fuzz? Got any numbers for HD, Speed, WS? SAS or TAS, whatever you prefer... My Logbook
  11. So does your SAS. Just give me an average fallrate, SAS/TAS, whatever makes you happy... I expect the difference between SAS and TAS to be less then the median deviation of the results I'm getting of this poll... If you want to assure proper numbers state SAS as well of elevation of your reference point and ground pressure, as well as an height, pressure and temperature profile of your jump. Whatever you do, just post your average fallrates... K. My Logbook
  12. So, what's your average TAS? K. My Logbook
  13. If you prefer SAS, post your average fall rates in SAS instead of starting a discussion whether it should be SAS or TAS. So, what's your average fallrate? K. My Logbook
  14. First of all, I'd like to apologize for cross-posting, but I wanted to make sure I reach those only reading the forum of their specific interest. Maybe you can help: I'm trying to figure out more accurate fallrates for the different disciplines. With all those ProTracks out there, it should be possible to collect a wide sample of average freefall speeds and to calculate an overall avergae freefall speed for the different disciplines. So, I'd really appreciate if you could state your average fallrate for the different jump types you do, based on your ProTrack readings (TAS), e.g: RW: 120mph Freefly: 180mph Speed: 250mph Wingsuit: 80mph I'll summarize and post the results later. Thanks for your help! Klaus My Logbook

  17. I love my Conceptus Bite Switch! Great customer service as well... My Logbook
  18. That should be doable with any miniDV/Digital8 camera with 'Analog-In'... Don't know about other cams, but for a PC-9 enable 'Analog->DV' in one of the menues, plug your VCR into the analog port, your PC into the firewire port, start capturing and VCR, et voilá! And no, you don't have to record while capturing. HTH, Klaus My Logbook
  19. I love my Legend! I'd choose the non-reversed risers next time, though... Klaus My Logbook
  20. I can remember building radio controlled skydivers in the early '80s... It seems there still is an active scene out there. Maybe you can get a model skydiver and some background information from a link like this: http://www.paramax.de/mikeeng.htm. My Logbook
  21. As several people have uncovered their secret development activities, I might as well uncover mine... 'Paralog Desktop' is a Java based jump logbook application which might be used standalone or together with Paralog for the Palm (www.vorpalware.com). The core functionality (entering and saving jumps, syncing with the Palm, importing & exporting .csv files, jump statistics) is there, other areas (jump profile, charts, printing) are still being worked on, as well as connectivity to 'freefall computers' and other logbook software. Although the application is currently being developed and tested on Windoze, support for Mac and and Linux is planned. Have a look at the attached screenshot or download a working preview from krheinwald.bei.t-online.de/Paralog/ and let me know what you think (PM please). BSBD, Klaus My Logbook
  22. Paul, I have considered this approach for some time but was reluctant as I read of problems with drives larger than 120Gig and the Oxford 911 Firewire/IDE bridge which is used in most of the enclosures. So when I saw the external Maxtor drive the decsion was easy. The price is similar to a home-build dive plus you have a ready made drive with guarantee! K. My Logbook
  23. Andy, I had a look at it, but preferred the extra 50Gig over extra speed. As I'm already succesfully using 5400rpm discs for DV editing, only using 50% of the disks' bandwith, I do not expect any problems. And if there are, I can always return it for a full refund... Did I mention I I love german mail-order laws? :-) Klaus My Logbook
  24. Have a look at http://www.maxtor.com/en/products/external/personal_storage_5000/personal_storage_5000xt/index.htm. 250GB for 400$. Sounds reasonable - Mine is ordered already :-) Klaus My Logbook
