  1. Doesn't this come from pulling the pilot chute out of the BOC, then holding it a second or two before releasing it ( while the bridle horseshoes ) ? Life is short ... jump often.
  2. 640 is one every 2 minutes and 15 seconds for 24 hrs........that is fast. Life is short ... jump often.
  3. Good call. There is no reason to go smaller. Have your fun in freefall, then have more fun flying the canopy you enjoy. Life is short ... jump often.
  4. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HfY-8CH0DK0 Well...it could have been worse. I would like to point out for the demo jumpers that are interested, THAT is why I always tell people to weight the leading edge of the flag and pad it. If there would have been a suspended weight swinging under that... it may have been a different story. It looked like a good approach until the lip of the stadium, my guess is the 'toilet bowl' effect you sometimes get from an enclosed park like that got him, looks like the canopy attitude changed without input. . 5. Triathlons are pretty basic / docile. Collapsing your slider is all you need to do ( if that ). Flying your canopy and watching for other traffic is what you might concentrate on....So what is your new wingload now ? I haven't heard you mention it . Life is short ... jump often.
  6. Like someone said above, it was likely just interpreted as a close call by a reporter who thinks landing within a hundred feet of the show is dangerous.......So four canopies landed near 720 " FIRE DANCERS" and not one mention of a canopy catching on fire.....Doesn't sound like a close call to me,,,,, Life is short ... jump often.
  7. But....the "save" by the rigger is an independent, alcohol ( call made by rigger ) pay-off. So there would be at least two......dropping handles does not fall into a " first " catagory.....it just falls under " more beer " catagory.......ha, ha. Life is short ... jump often.
  8. Sounds like you owe a lot of beer.......first cut-away ( 1 ).....dropped both handles ( 2 , 3 ).......Beer, or other, for rigger for a save ( 4 )....... Life is short ... jump often.
  9. Good job, that's the way it should happen. Get three more on your next round. Life is short ... jump often.
  10. So, you weigh 145 pounds without your gear ? Life is short ... jump often.
  11. 1750' exit, 200' open canopy, in the dark.........here is a fun vid for you ( not me ) ....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHtPDjGE8RU . Life is short ... jump often.
  12. All this time you thought 'Ski was looking for some girl-on-girl action with eeneR? Pretty much, yea...dunno why, the screenname and picture just made me think girl...show's how much my dumbass knows Life is short ... jump often.
  13. I would agree that any Rally type racing would be exciting ( truck, car, motorcycle ). Racing in different parts of the world, and in places most of us would never see. Winning would not even matter.......just being in the "Race". Life is short ... jump often.
  14. This only shows in the video. Still in the plane, the Tandem Instructor reading the book " Skydiving for Dumbies ", reading, flipping pages, and scratching his head. Life is short ... jump often.
  15. Step one is to know what your exit weight is. This is your body weight, plus clothing, plus the full weight of your rig ( normally 25 - 30 pounds ), added all together to get your exit weight. How heavy you sit under an open canopy, compared the the canopy size ( example: exit weight = 200 pounds / canopy size = 210 square feet ) is called your wingload. Your wingload as a beginner should be light. The "example" wing load is .95 / 1 . Your reserve canopy should have the same light wingload. Canopy type is important. Nothing high performance ( ellipticals or semi-ellipticals )Then you buy a container that will hold the sized canopies you bought, and one that fits your body.Your instructor might suggest a lighter or heavier wingload. Make sure to ask him / her before you buy. Life is short ... jump often.
  16. You could get a life size cardboard cut-out of Skymama, and take it to all your local drop zones, and have people take pictures of you two together........... Life is short ... jump often.
  17. Have any reverse WS rodeos been attempted ?.......Jumpers face to face, wingsuiter backflying......obviously handles would be vulnerable. Life is short ... jump often.
  18. Not mentioning the landing on a roof......what about the first guy with the wrist cam, for a bridel snag potential ? Life is short ... jump often.
  19. Well, if you had got that sex change operation when you were young, you COULD have been there by now. Just had to give up your penis..... Life is short ... jump often.
  20. Tell your friends and relatives NOW, how much you care about them.......before they die,,,,,or you die. Life is short ... jump often.
  21. You can have anything in life you want.......it all depends on what you want to give up. Life is short ... jump often.
  22. You don't sound like an asshole to me. How come we can't just say it like it is, like you did. Save yourself people. That's how I see it ( although, I would chase an unconscious jumper as far as I could safely, to try to help deploy) By the way, I don't have an AAD. Life is short ... jump often.
  23. I didn't see anything about wingsuits.........http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dcf9xdr-9KY......They are at almost every drop zone..... Life is short ... jump often.
  24. Is there a youtube version of your jumps or landings out there ? I don't have ( or want ) a facebook account. Life is short ... jump often.
  25. If we found out tomorrow, that this reserve had actually been packed by an apprentice to the rigger in question, this mis-rigging would begin to make a lot of sense. Even though the rigger is overseeing the pack job and is ultimately liable. It would not suprise me to find out this was what happened. Life is short ... jump often.
