  1. I have been a loyal Verizon customer since trying several providers in college and--HOORAY!--iPhone is here. And-HOORAY!--today my Best Friends Animal Society magazine arrived and I discovered I can now download their app.
  2. Unless you count the pittance I have before-and-now receive as a "salary", then the answer is "yes" and "always" since I graduated college. I love commission-based sales, especially residual. You get out what you put in. Everything is my responsibility and thus nobody (i.e. my managers) fucking bothers me so long as I am producing. Having said that, I would never have gone to an interview without knowing "what the role/company was about", nor would I be willing to "go through the phone book to find prospective clients". A couple of my peers came from a copier-sales background--a hardcore door-to-door-knocking sales position. I never would have applied for that either. Work smarter, not harder. Agree with the stroll on the beach, though. I do that several times a week after hours with the love of my life and our dog. But, it is a five-minute walk to get there from the house we own, so I am spoiled. Life_is_good.
  3. If I were not in a commission-only sales position, I would enjoy the experience of federal jury duty. I was called for federal last year and the cases were a minimum of seven to ten days each. I almost had a panic attack. It would literally be a big charitable donation from me to my country to sacrifice that kind of time. I was not selected, and--having said that--actually enjoyed the day off and almost finished a new book I had been meaning to get to having been called at the very end. Less than a year latter, I have now been summoned to county. I called to select a new date and am praying it is just for the one day. County does not interest me, but I am happy to serve if it is quick (as I am told it should be). I just am not happy to have to drive downtown, much less then wait for a shuttle and stand/sit amongst God knows who. "Nature is cruel, but we don't have to be." ~ Temple Grandin
  4. Cute. As instructed, I voted first: "Not applicable" as I do not drink beer. A Corona with extra lime was always drinkable (doable? ), however. To the silly study's credit, I have never had sex on the first date. Self-pleasure is preferred unless I actually care about someone. "Nature is cruel, but we don't have to be." ~ Temple Grandin
  5. I do, naturally. I avoid hanging out with certain family/loved ones' acquaintances, however, because I am not one who enjoys putting on a facade--even a slight one. I like "my kinda people", and unless there is some benefit to me or a cause I support, I am not the type looking to impress, but rather be impressed upon. 6. Sounds delish! 'cept the excessive butter. I feel guilty when I eat dairy (i.e. at a restaurant or some place I know it came from a factory farm). I do not eat meat, except wild, sustainable fish. But, I love good cheese. "Nature is cruel, but we don't have to be." ~ Temple Grandin
  7. Robin Wright is not at all relative to Jennifer Aniston. Wright is a fantastic actress. "Nature is cruel, but we don't have to be." ~ Temple Grandin
  8. Scrabble. I typically fair well playing board games, and--as one who loves to write and occasionally gets paid for it--those who know me expect me to do exceptionally well at Scrabble. I do OK. I find it boring, yet also tantalizing. "Nature is cruel, but we don't have to be." ~ Temple Grandin
  9. Just received Hornet's Nest from Netflix today.
  10. It sounds like you are going through something personally that you are having trouble otherwise expressing. Tell us more about your relationship with your mother. "Nature is cruel, but we don't have to be." ~ Temple Grandin
  11. Eight years ago--when I was "all of the above" and in college. Of course, while I grabbed a few boobies in jest, I never played that field. "Nature is cruel, but we don't have to be." ~ Temple Grandin
  12. How interesting. "The leftward slant is indicative of people who are emotionally unexpressive, introverted, and even selfish" or "You generally like to work alone or behind the scenes. If you are right-handed and your handwriting slants to the left, you may be expressing rebellion." Mine slants barely to the right--if at all--but when I was taught cursive, I was taught to angle the paper/tablet slightly from the bottom-left corner toward the upper-right. It is still how I write today, even though I print. I wonder if that is taken into consideration in such highly scientific studies in writing as it relates to personality? Edit: Just wrote my name several times with the paper straight. Looks the same as when I tilt the paper, but no slight-right slant. To the links' credit, I am neither super-social, nor anti-social. What can I say? I have "my people" and to everyone else, "good luck". "Nature is cruel, but we don't have to be." ~ Temple Grandin
  13. I would be interested to see how well and/or quickly one could read cursive having never been taught how to write it. I am biased, but it seems to me the words look close enough to print that it would not be difficult to pick up quickly. "Nature is cruel, but we don't have to be." ~ Temple Grandin
  14. The only signature I can write in perfect-cursive likeness to the original is not mine either. But, I did not skip school once until I was a senior in high school. "Nature is cruel, but we don't have to be." ~ Temple Grandin
  15. I love this response for so many reasons--mostly personal. First--to address the beginning and the latter--what reminded me of this topic was the one in SC about spelling and its importance. I think today proper spelling (and grammar) is a mark of the more refined (to debate this, please do so in the SC thread). As for not holding her pen correctly, I was never taught how to properly hold a knife and fork. I rarely had meals with my parents and such "charm" was no longer taught in school. It looked the same as you describe when I would eat at the table, much to the chagrin of my father. An excellent copy-cat, I learned quickly to adjust what was once natural and worked just fine. 16. My mother-in-law brought this up about a year ago--a strong proponent she is of cursive and its importance. I wake up to the loud morning news each morning and the first thing I heard a few days ago was an elementary school announcing it would not be including cursive in its curriculum any longer. What I love about this topic is how many ways the discussion/debate can go. I know I do not/probably can no longer ever use cursive. I know instead of printing my signature on the automated screen when I swipe my credit card, I scribble several circles that bear no resemblance to my actual name (and instead of a signature on my credit cards, I print "see ID"). I know I opt for the Lucida Calligraphy in purple for my signature at work while everything else is in Aerial or some other professional font. I know I miss the days of handwritten cards in the mail, but do not miss the glittery Christmas card that is simply signed at the bottom and rarely in cursive. I know it is an awesome challenge at times to read any card my grandma handwrites me, but I am just happy she remembers and can still move her hands without pain. I know I am infinitely bored because my hunny is sick and we are unable to enjoy our Sunday Funday, but I did manage to do a bunch of online shopping that never required a signature, much less one in cursive. 17. Well, for me, yes. It is much easier just to go with all black. I can still get different styles and they always match. I have a couple flesh-colored sets for when a rare-occasion calls for it, but even my whitest pants and silky tops are lined well-enough that black still works just fine most of the time.
  18. On a similiar note: I had never seen A Christmas Story until this past Christmas and I loved it!
  19. One thing I have never done was get behind the wheel after so much as one drink within an hour. I read texting while driving is as much an impairment as someone driving shortly after drinking four beers. "Nature is cruel, but we don't have to be." ~ Temple Grandin
  20. DZ.com email? "Nature is cruel, but we don't have to be." ~ Temple Grandin
  21. Yup; you have to show them. At which time I stay in the garage whilst he grudgingly trots out, squats, and hauls bootie back in. And even though I wipe him thoroughly down with a towel, he still believes the best way to get dry from even the slightly drizzel of rain is to slide in on the nearest indoor rug and scoot all around it in circles as he moans. Then he believes his performance is deserving of a big bone and runs to pantry where they lay behind. I am never far behind him to oblige. "Nature is cruel, but we don't have to be." ~ Temple Grandin
  22. Excellent phrasing. My Roo used to do that when we first adopted him, but he has long since learned to ignore that which is not walk time, bone time or play time--collectively "Roo time". "Nature is cruel, but we don't have to be." ~ Temple Grandin
  23. My beloved feline angel does that, but only with his rope. He has had a white piece of rope his whole life that he plays with and carries around (always meowing with it in his mouth in the middle of the night) and I find it constantly in the water bowl. I read cats do this with their favorite things, but sometimes I think the rope annoys him and what I perceive as cute, funny playing is actually him wrestling with an evil enemy he wants to destroy/kill/drown and get rid of permanently. 24. Yup; it is all public record and gathered legally. Kris, if you are concerned, do not provide them any information about yourself or previous address/phone history as they will only add it to their database at a later time. That is how they improve their accuracy , though--like others have already stated--such websites are often inaccurate and/or outdated. "Nature is cruel, but we don't have to be." ~ Temple Grandin
