    Mirage Ad

A boogie is a party, so an ad reflects the party atmosphere, as well as the larger than usual aircraft support. That's why people go to boogies, to jump a lot, and for the after hours parties. So the ads are directly on-point to what people expect. For a rig ad though, people should buy a rig because of reliability, comfort and performance. So I would think people would expect discussion about the merits of the rig, and not cheap sexual innuendo. So these are two completely different things. A rig is not a party. In that case, don't buy the rig. By that argument, I still see no need to protest the running of the ad. Either the image is offensive or it isn't. Mirage Ad

Food for thought: why was this ad (the original panty-dropping ad that started this discussion) not okay, but no one has a problem with any of the ads run to promote boogies? Just something to consider. Ad for a business (product) is protested, but ad for another business (event hosted by a DZ) is ignored. I won't point out any single boogie ad -- just the ads in general. And... go. See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!
  5. He's hilarious! I just added this DVD to my Netflix queue. I especially laughed at the panda jokes! See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!
  6. Got picked up in the El Camino? Welcome to the club! Congrats. It took me forever to finish AFF as well (myriad of other reasons), and even longer to get my A. Glad you had fun at Z-Hills. See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!
  7. I like to give "consumable" gifts. Omaha Steaks packages, candles, Harry & David, restaurant gift cards. Stuff people can use, but won't add clutter. See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!
  8. Yeah well...my sisters dog gave me a bunch of "heaven" this weekend. Bastard decided to protest her leaving him for the holiday by shitting only in the house for 5 days. The one that really made me wanna set her loose in Central Park was when I took her for a 45 minute walk. She peed but wouldn't go poo. Went back in the house and had to take care of my business. When I opened the bathroom door...she had crapped right in front of it. Then she wagged her tail and rolled over for me to pet her belly. She is very lucky I like dogs. Sorry for your loss Turtle. 10. Actually, I saw a guy on some hosted TV show while waiting for a doctor's appointment. He did those same poses, but all stationary. He could hold himself horizontal on a vertical bar, then do "pull-ups" sideways. He was HOT!! See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!
  11. Okay... Nunya: 0 : 1 Nunya damn business! Wasted a beautiful weekend at Turkey Boogie for wasting a beautiful weekend at Turkey Boogie. See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!

  15. I just finished baking the sugar cookies, have gingerbread dough chilling in the fridge, and will start the peanut butter cookies today (holiday baking). Chocolate chip cookies to follow. YOU said you didn't want any of MY cookies. So you'll just have to continue waiting on Deedy. Deal with it! Regarding Deedy's OP -- I keep a carton of chocolate Silk light in the fridge. I've found that a glass of that is an awesome way to satisfy the chocolate cravings.
  16. +1. Instead of all or nothing, get to know the guy. He didn't ask you to marry him -- he asked you to spend some more time together. I would also say that considering his culture and Bayram holiday, he was being respectful both to you and to his family. Bayram holiday (esp time away from work/with family) lasts about a week. 17. Alright then, how was it? Mostly I mean how was the theater experience. My brother took his daughter last night, too -- thinking sure, there would be a bunch of high-school kids, but not so much with the ankle biter crowd. True? 18. I'd go with you if not for two facts: 1 -- I'm not anywhere near you, and 2 -- I have a combat fitness test in the morning, Raincheck? See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!
  19. + 1 +1 more. This is why I don't "date" someone I've just met. I have to know someone before I know if I'm even attracted to him! See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!
  20. They need a traffic pattern: Swim out in one place on a base leg, then paddle cross-current for set-up, and finally turn down-wave for their final approach. And what about pre-surf safety brief? Surfer collisions can almost always be avoided if everyone keeps their head on a swivel! Yeah, and no banging the surf instructors. Hey, now -- let's not be unreasonable. See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!

  22. My sister got insurance for her dog. Three months later he suffered heat stroke. 48 hours and $4000 later he was gone. Not only did the insurance not cover any of his costs, she was locked into a contract FOR A YEAR of premiums. Not sure if she got out of that, but I just remember that right when she had to deal with losing her best friend, she was told that she had to continue to pay an insurance premium on a dog who had already died. ROFLMAO. This is hilarious! ETA: my second favorite quote -- "what drives a woman to toys?" (Skyrider already took the best one!) See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!
  24. For our demo team, the flags are flown from flag lines above the jumper. So, ground crew can usually catch the flags before they even hit the ground. If it does hit the ground, the crew picks it up as quickly as possible. When the jumpers stage their gear afterward, they make sure the whole rig gets right into the gear bag so it doesn't get dumped on the ground. 25. It's about damn time. Too many of the citations I've read for lesser awards, I believe, would also have qualified for this award -- but for the fact that the recipient lived. I certainly understand not wanting to give it away too easily, but come on! Lately it's been way too difficult for these guys to be appropriately recognized. Thanks to Staff Sgt. Giunta, and thanks to all the others who continue to do for everyone else without regard to their own safety. Well-deserved recognition.
