  1. I have been in three situations as a civilian where I could have pulled my wpn. but I didn't - the situations stabilized without anyone needing to die or be gravely injured - the last one because the assailant was hopped up on something and apparently forgot the knife he was threatening to use on my neighbor - he was very serious - if his hand had come out of his pocket with it I would have been justified in using deadly force, looking back I can be amused at his ranting and frantically searching all his pockets... but at the time It was not funny In those links I pointed out situations where that wasn't even a remote possibility. did you click those links? you would have to have Loki's silver tongue to use words to stop what happened. words will not always work - you cannot reason with the unreasonable. I don't need to wise up, once diplomacy fails you have to have a backup and unfortunately that backup has to be force. I can understand what your saying but we have two very different views here - knowing when the wpn is truly justified is key. I like hedging my bets, I hope I never have to take a life but having the ability to stop an attacker that is bent on taking a life whether its mine/family/friends or even someone I don't know is very comforting They say I suffer from insanity.... 2. LOL, I forgot about that acronym too I just remember my frustration with that damned thing, tried firing with it excessively lubed...dry...even tried gun grease *(will never use that again..what a mess) didn't matter, same result - was just glad I didn't go to combat with that weapon - I remember just waiting for the replacement wpn to do the same thing, took a while till I actually trusted it They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  3. I was completely unimpressed with my M-16A2 I was issued, about every 5-10 rounds it would lock open, a quick smack on the side of the weapon and it would close but for a combat wpn to do that is unacceptable, I took it to the armorer many times only to be told to put more rounds through it as it was new and everything mic'd out correct. the accuracy was exceptional however, but after putting several thousand rounds through it the problem persisted and I was finally issued a new weapon that worked flawlessly They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  4. I don't clean the bullets but yeah, if I drop one on the ground that bullet is not going to be used - I place it in the box along with all the brass I pick up, my neighbor reloads so I provide him with a ton of spent brass, he'll pull the bullet and if the casing isn't damaged he will use it, he tosses me a box or two to go play with from time to time
  5. perhaps you missed where I said I would rather withdraw... and as for them being unlikely? lol, you don't watch the news much do you? http://fox2now.com/2014/06/10/one-person-dead-another-at-the-hospital/ so what words would you use to stop the thugs here? pretty please don't will not carry any weight - they are decided upon what they have planned, you would just sit there and talk - hoping to reason with them... then maybe you would watch them rape your daughter while being completely helpless. as for 911, it takes responders time to get there, how much depends on what they have going on at the time, and how far away they are - you would be taking an awful chance on the lives of your family. words are worthless when the person has decided your life, and the lives of your family are his to take. no complex here, I just wasn't issued rose colored glasses with which to view the world. like I said earlier, it only takes you being in the wrong place wrong time They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  6. one of us is definitely in fantasy land - so tell me how you reason with a person hopped up on meth who has decided you have to die since the voices in his head tell him so? how would you stop an armed man who entered your house to abduct your daughter? words? good luck with that. They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  7. its not a get out of trouble card, its a force multiplier - it merely gives you options in a live or die situation - if and its a big if I admit... you have the chance to get it into play. nothing will protect you from a blindside you don't see coming. it gives you a chance that you otherwise would not have. I do not open carry as I dislike the attention it brings, I personally think that the weapon that is carried totally concealed is the most effective - I am not the most physically imposing person you will ever meet, but with my force multiplier if I can get it into play I can hold my own - my size and at a glance, unarmed status might just make someone dismiss me as a threat and not just take me out immediately - thus (hopefully) allowing me the slightly less than 2 seconds it takes to draw, drop the safety and fire my first round. Without it I wouldn't have this chance against an armed assailant. if I see the trouble coming I would prefer to withdraw and avoid the situation but you don't always get the chance. 8. oh, and yes once a week is waaaay more than it needs, but I work out of town and its boring as hell there so it gives me something to do other than watch tv Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  9. I have to admit I laughed at that - but its soooo wrong!!! They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  10. fully loaded - I have yet to ever have a spring sag and become unusable on any weapon. They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  11. call me weird all you want, stick your head in the sand if you wish -all it takes is being in the wrong place at the wrong time and you will be a victim. being unarmed does not make you safe, it makes you a potential victim at anothers whim. http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/07/10/us-usa-shooting-texas-idUSKBN0FF04320140710 http://www.nytimes.com/2014/07/11/nyregion/carjacking-suspect-charged-with-2-murders.html?_r=0 and if you think your safe in the mountains think again. http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-hikers-robbed-shot-california-trail-20140519-story.html I am happy to be weird m8, I am prepared and proficient to defend myself and family. by your tone the best you could hope for is to die first so you don't have to watch them go. good luck with that Roy edited to add: I seriously hope me, you and everyone else here - whether they carry or not never find themselves in a situation that would require a firearm. but in my mind its better to have it and not need it than to need it and wish you had it. They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  12. just curious how often you perform maintanence on yours I pull my 9mm m&p shield apart and oil it weekly. I also switch mags every week to relax the spring. while Im tossing questions - what is your preferred carry wpn? I like this m&p as I can carry with shorts and a tank top and its completely concealed unless the wind blows and its outlined above the belt - and even then 99% of the people don't see it
  13. how in hell can this even be remotely legal?? wtf is wrong with this country!!! Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.

    iFly Seattle

Friendly instructors who are incredibly talented and take the time to explain what you need to be doing and how to do it. My 11yr old son made his 1st flight june 25th and spend the next two days talking about the next trip. Our instructor Brandon obviously loves his job :-)
  17. so I did a thing... me and the kid go on a Seattle trip once each year *(he loves the damn place) and I just booked us at I-FLY for next week. sure hope he likes it but am sure all he's gonna want to do all summer is go fly... aaarghhh, what have I done!?! 18. I can only speak for how I use it but WD-40 works great to get the cable clean and once wiped dry not once have I ever seen it actually collect dirt/dust - I suppose if you left the cable wet it would but the cleaned area of the cable doesn't show any more particles than the uncleaned area near the pillow Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  19. totally agree, it can be quite difficult to actually judge your own, I was speaking more of the people that look at others and think " well.... they are doing it - why shouldn't I?" -then run out and buy a very hot canopy/bike/car without considering the time the other person worked on their skillset - we read about those people too often They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.

  21. we had a female worker in my dept. that would start racy and inappropriate talk with the guys and then go to HR with the complaint that they were sexually harassing her, she almost got several fired till HR finally realized she was instigating the problem, she was terminated and the guys were given verbal warnings They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  22. Everyone is tired of seeing others smash themselves after a rapid downsize and it makes them "quick on the draw" so to speak everyone learns at a different rate and his downsize isn't crazy as some I have seen. I was working at Ralph Hatly's dz at 1300 jumps and quite content with my stiletto 120 when he tossed the 85 fx at me and said to test it out - I still remember my thought process at the time.... "jesus this is a big change and different platform... am I ready for this? Hey Ralph, if this scares me I am chopping the fucker just so ya know! as it was I found I loved it and well... it took me 1300 jumps to be ready for it. others can progress faster but I just pray they are being honest with their abilities and running the show with their brains and not their balls. They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  23. both of these statements are incorrect - no amount of training will stop you from being blindsided like this - so by your logic perhaps the cops should stop carrying them and just use pepper spray as well? some of us would rather be a bit more proactive than just wait to be executed by some nutcase. 99 times out of 100 huh? so who decides? you? I carry and will continue to do so and quite frankly don't ever see a time when I wont. Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  24. and I would like people to quit forgetting a planet is going to shove itself up their ass. if a backup device will accomplish just one person saving his own life when the "oh shit moment occurs" rather than going in or a cypress save then I am all for it. cypress - check altimeter - check audible/visual light - check eyeballs - check 4 of the 5 are technological - I am sure you are not advocating jumping without them so I am a tad bit confused as to your post as its not like many people pay attention to them to the exclusion of the dive They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
