Thanks for the comments on books and videos - I'll do some research on whats available here in the UK. We've been allowing her to watch telly later in the evening and there are somethings she will see that I figure she will ask about when she's ready. If you're using Windows XP (SP1 preferably) then I wouldn't bother. Just get a decent soundcard with a firewire port in it and plug your cam into that. I use Adobe Premiere to grab video, TMPGENC to render DVD compliant MPEG2 stream, something or other (i forget ) to generate compressed Dolby AC3 sound (good quality and nice and small), and Sonic ReelDVD to master the DVD. I built a rule of thuimb based on Quade's detailed information: A rise in temperature of 8.5C equates to jumping 1000ft higher. Humidity is insignificant making only +/- 1.5% difference between 0% and 100% humidity. Rich M

The most significant danger is one of lines becoming entangled around the camera/helmet attachment point. It is a rare occurence but it can happen - If there is a possibility of this you should seriouysly consider fitting a cutaway mechanism for the helmet and practising how to cut it away. If I remember correctly 5 fatalities in 2001 were experienced camera flyers going in because of entanglement with camera gear or newton ring sights(?) I jump a 2k Composites FF helmet. The design makes it virtually impossible for lines to become entangled with the camera. It's an awesome helmet. Rich M

But bringing these sites down would just result in them being replaced elsewhere. You wouldn't really achieve anything, and you wouldn't be doing anything to halt the increasing number of children who are sexually abused. Imo removing the site seems tantamount to not wanting to accept there is a problem, rather than trying to address and seeking to resolve a very real problem of the sexual abuse of innocent children. Get a video card that has TV out either by composite or s-video connection. If s-video get an adapter cable to convert to composite female plugs (3 off, 1 yellow video, 1 red and 1 white stereo sound). Plug the Sony 3 way composite lead (that should have come with your camera) into the composite female connectors on either the video card or the s-video adapter cable. Set the camera to VTR and press record, start playing the WMV in full screen (ensuring the video card options are set to mirror the display down the composite/s-video outlet). If in the combination of cables you end up using the shipped Sony scart adapter - don't - it only allows the signal out of the camera, not back in. Get a proper scart adapter from any decent AV store, Tandys or Radio Shack or something like that. Hope that helps. Rich M

Agreed Disagree. It's your riggers responsibility to ensure the second one is not prevented from opening by avoidable rigging errors. Rich M

I do think the rigger should be held responsible. Murder if there was intention to kill. Manslaughter if it can be proven that a failed reserve deployment causing a fatality was the direct result of rigging error. Any other event the ticket should be revoked or suspended depending on the nature and severity of the incident or error. Rich M
