  4. Been avoiding upgrading my suit for a while now. What performance increase could I expect in real terms going from P1 to P3? 20%? 40%? Ian Purvis http://www.loadupsoftware.com LoadUp DZ Management App [email protected]
  5. Makes me appreciate all the more that where I typically jump there is a left-hand pattern to land on one side of the runway, and a left-hand pattern to land on the other side. If you want to land downwind use the appropriate side to land on. Ian Purvis http://www.loadupsoftware.com LoadUp DZ Management App [email protected]
  6. Same here. I also psycho pack and pack my pilot chute using Brian Germain's video method. What surprises me is the number of times that jumpers with far more experience than me (including a couple of riggers), have told me that all 3 methods are wrong and they have no idea why I would do it the way I do. They do tend to leave it alone once I explain the reasoning and also the research I did before using these methods. Ian Purvis http://www.loadupsoftware.com LoadUp DZ Management App [email protected]
  7. Thanks JW. I really appreciate the time you spent to explain that. And you're correct, I'm not busting 540's. Much to the amazement of the kids on the dz, I'm still more than happy flying my 210 main at 1.15 wl. Ian Purvis http://www.loadupsoftware.com LoadUp DZ Management App [email protected]
  8. If you were to practice with rear risers up high, what, if any, are the differences between stall recovery from toggles vs risers? Ian Purvis http://www.loadupsoftware.com LoadUp DZ Management App [email protected]
  9. Thanks. It's still vertical today but at least you can click the links behind it now. Ian Purvis http://www.loadupsoftware.com LoadUp DZ Management App [email protected]

  13. Thanks for pic. There's 18,600 boxes stacked in 34 groups. Only 6 groups show any deformation from impact. So at 547 boxes per group I really only need 3,282 boxes to attempt this. Ian Purvis http://www.loadupsoftware.com LoadUp DZ Management App [email protected]
  14. It's part of being a Dad. After 3 years and 200+ jumps in the sport I thought I'd rationally considered the risks in skydiving and was comfortable in my approach to managing them. 4 weeks ago my 16yo son and his best mate did AFF through to A licence over a 2 week period. So much for being rational! As they walked to the plane for their first jump I wanted to physically drag them away and scream "what the fuck are you doing". Thankfully after his first safe landing I returned to a normal, rational, and very proud dad and skydiver. I was shocked at the strength of emotions and fears that I felt given my experience. Don't hide it from your dad. Involve him as much as you can. His inbuilt need to protect you will always be there but it will become more rational over time. Enjoy the ride and your dad follow in time. Cheers My boy's AFF levels. https://vimeo.com/39867792 Ian Purvis http://www.loadupsoftware.com LoadUp DZ Management App [email protected]
  15. Sounds familiar. Turned up at Skydive Express at York a few years ago with 30 jumps in NZ, a logbook and no licence. Dixie was CI and Don was DZSO. Don gave me the same impressive review of EP's and Dixie gave me an Aussie A licence. I've only been back twice as I live in Newcastle and work (and jump) in NZ 19 from every 28 days, but rate this as the best Dz I've been. Hope to get out there again for a weekend in April. I still laugh when I look at the back of my APF licence and see it listed as my home DZ - it's about 4,000km from home. 16. Thanks for the offer but I found one today. Rigged it up, took the obligatory photo, now it's packed up for another 70 odd jumps until I can do a course. cheers Woohoo. After 10 months of looking at it hanging in the wardrobe I finally got 2 flights on it yesterday. I'm hooked Ian Purvis http://www.loadupsoftware.com LoadUp DZ Management App [email protected]
