  1. All of these things sound pretty much the same as CAA Part 115 that all commercial skydiving in New Zealand has operated under for the past 5 years or so, all in response to 9 fatalities in a jump plane following engine failure shortly after takeoff. As there was no available manifest/operational software available to perform slot specific w&b for each load, I developed the operational software for my mates drop zones to manage all of these requirements regarding w&b, recurrency, CAA reporting and much more. Since doing that 4 years ago, I certainly look differently at short body Caravans and PAC750s trying to board 16 jumpers and a pilot. It's a very rare load that I can keep 17 bodies on those aircraft within COG limits.
  2. I do it pretty much every week of the year through either Auckland, Christchurch, or Wellington. Always as carry-on in a backpack, and never had a problem in the past 10 years

  4. Absolutely, but I'm not sure 30deg is enough. I'm tending to go with Wicked's 90deg now Ian Purvis http://www.loadupsoftware.com LoadUp DZ Management App [email protected]
  5. A quick safety vid we made last month for end of day viewing to highlight some of the day's dodgy ws flights. The first clip is as close as I ever want to come to being hit. Guy trying to exit on his back hasn't seen me yet. http://vimeo.com/170911192 Ian Purvis http://www.loadupsoftware.com LoadUp DZ Management App [email protected]

  8. Long delay in posting due to having so much fun on this suit After reading this post months ago I contacted Walt who graciously agreed to send a demo Swurve all the way to little old New Zealand. After putting 10 flights on it I ordered one on 22nd April. The next day Walt was back in touch checking some minor details. He communicated every step of the process. Suit was cut on April 28th, and shipped on May 6th. Redline's service was great and the final fit and quality are outstanding. Can't thank them enough. If you get the chance definitely take the Swurve for a spin, it's an awesome suit. Ian Purvis http://www.loadupsoftware.com LoadUp DZ Management App [email protected]
  9. If it were in my home, they'd be asked to go outside, just like any other smoker. (I know my building has a general no-smoking rule and I don't know if it also applies to e-cigs. But I personally have a zero tolerance policy!). I quit cigarettes almost 3 years ago and switched to vaping. I always take it outside, even when the host says "don't worry about it". Just good manners in my book. Ian Purvis http://www.loadupsoftware.com LoadUp DZ Management App [email protected]
  10. Awesome, much appreciated Ian Purvis http://www.loadupsoftware.com LoadUp DZ Management App [email protected]
  11. Almost fixed Michael The time zone offset craps out if you go more than +9 hours from UTC. Currently in New Zealand we're +13 hours. +8 and +9 work fine but +10,11,12,13 don't. Not a big deal. At least the folders have the correct date now as long as I don't jump before 4.00am. Cheers for the support Ian Purvis http://www.loadupsoftware.com LoadUp DZ Management App [email protected]
  12. Only 1 day of jumping it so far but I like it. Jumped 5 loads using 1080@120fps so I could play with some slomo and I'm impressed. https://vimeo.com/channels/blsd/111969513 Ian Purvis http://www.loadupsoftware.com LoadUp DZ Management App [email protected]

  14. I've only been around for 5 years and these regurgitated threads piss me off. Don't know how you old-timers stomach it Ian Purvis http://www.loadupsoftware.com LoadUp DZ Management App [email protected]
  15. 3 best thing I've learned in my 5 short years 1. Psycho Pack 2. Brian Germaine's method for pilot chute's 3. This way of closing All 3 guarantee some weird looks from the newb's Ian Purvis http://www.loadupsoftware.com LoadUp DZ Management App [email protected]
  16. Yep this was the biggest crock of shit I've seen in my lowly 5 years in this sport. Due to the APF (ex Cypress dealer) I had no choice other than to buy a new AAD, even though I couldn't find any proof that there was anything wrong with my 4yo Argus. Happily just this month I shipped Argus to a guy in Florida who is putting it to good use. Ian Purvis http://www.loadupsoftware.com LoadUp DZ Management App [email protected]
  17. Only a couple of years old but already has developed the ability to train, and more importantly, keep, students in the sport. They go out of their way to maximise the number of sport slots available, and are always happy to organise jumps to suit the level of those who want to play, even when it means having a simpler plan so that all are included. Their focus on fun jumping for everyone certainly plays a big part in the retention of their students.
  18. A little over 300 jumps on mine. Love it. Photo in my avatar Ian Purvis http://www.loadupsoftware.com LoadUp DZ Management App [email protected]

  21. Skydiving is basically banned in New Zealand is it not? You cannot even fart without having to write a thesis about it. I will never work there again. I thought that NZPO did not have any rules pertaining to Argus other than accepting them as an approved device? Was still jumping Wings and Argus at NZPO up until selling rig last month. 22. Just send me a 169 and I'll help you get the last bugs out of it Ian Purvis http://www.loadupsoftware.com LoadUp DZ Management App [email protected]

  24. Just uploaded the newest beta firmware onto mine. The config file shows ; Speech settings Sp_Mode: 2 ; Speech mode ; 0 = Horizontal speed ; 1 = Vertical speed ; 2 = Glide ratio ; 3 = Inverse glide ratio ; 4 = Total speed Sp_Units: 1 ; Speech units ; 0 = km/h ; 1 = mph Sp_Rate: 0 ; Speech rate (s) ; 0 = No speech Sp_Dec: 0 ; Decimal places for speech Couldn't find any info on what they actually do. Anybody know? Ian Purvis http://www.loadupsoftware.com LoadUp DZ Management App [email protected]
  25. Damn you Sugar Alpha. Finished at 4.10am this morning. Alarm goes off at 6.20am. Good read. Ian Purvis http://www.loadupsoftware.com LoadUp DZ Management App [email protected]
