  1. None. We have all been conditioned to think we need things that are all just wants (and things don't constitute emergencies). We live in a stuff and debt culture. Go free man!!!!!
  2. Right on. My wife, dog, and I are gonna be thru-hiking, south-north, the entire thing (2,174 miles!!!!!!!) starting next March 15th. We're so stoked!!!!
  3. clif bars ( chocolate chip) and lots of water
  4. Cool. I thought so too. just wanted to make sure. they are so cute together. The cat kicked her down the stairs once. Very funny. I think they're best friends now.
  5. We have a 5 month old husky/lab/shepherd and she was wrestling with the cat and hit her head on the wall and knocked one of here teeth out. Pre molar I am guessing. is this ok? i know they fall out eventually. It looks like it was a clean fall out. No pain for her (she just sniffed it, wagged her tail and jumped back on the cat).
  6. that will be your little secret then. Diet, exercise and stress free living do protect you from things like flus and colds. Yes. More serious shit, then no. But thats the way it is. Humans have to stop protecting ourselves and our interests while everything else is naturally controlled. Read articles from Dr. Peter Hudson (Royal Society and lecturer on the ecology of infectious disease). We are slowly destroying ourselves and in the end will be undone by our own doing. We are creating these "super bugs". Like I said, I am NEVER sick. Ever. People need to stop taking all these medicines and vaccines for this and that and just let the body do it's thing. But people like the fast, convenient and stupid way out of things. I look forward to sitting back and watching the show.
  7. There always has to be a balance in nature. Humans have been living outside the laws of nature for way to long now. Viruses, diseases, natural disasters, and cataclysmic events are SUPPOSED to control population and ensure balance in the system. Not just all other species while humans run free and do what we want. I refuse to take any immunization, pill, or anything (and haven't for at least 10 years and I am NEVER, EVER SICK). The human body is fully capable of fighting off anything and if it cant then.............. lights out I guess. Healthy, active living, a diet rich in lean meats, tons of fruits and veggies, nuts, and seafood will protect you from pretty much anything. And maybe having a life and not working like a mindless drone 5 days a week will do it too. That’s the positive thinking side of it and the unneeded stress and anxieties that partner everything in a make believe society that in the very near future is going to have their worlds rocked.
  8. there has to be trees. Thats the only catch. They are great at keeping the bugs out. You get in from the bottom and it velcros shut once your in. If you hike above the treeline then I dont know what to tell you but everywhere else, THEY ROCK!!!! My wife will be doing the entire AT next March so we'll see how they do being used that much. From what I have heard they last forever and are comfortable on really long distance hikes (2,000 + miles)
  9. We left the tent scene and go with Hennessy Hammock tents. Check them out. Made in British Columbia, guaranteed for life. No moving rocks, leveling, etc. And they're completely eco-friendly. Just strap up to trees in about 3 minutes and get in. In the morning they're great. No dew, frost, sore backs, etc. A lot of special forces use them now as well as many long distance backpackers (like us). Check em out!!!! http://hennessyhammock.com/
  10. just gonna get stoned with my wife, MAYBE eat some shrooms and watch transformers on blue ray. Prolly order a pizza or two
  11. it probably is definitely not a good idea. Thats why I just always loosen my chest strap to the confluence fold. I was just guessing what it would be like without it hooked up and I chopped with a skyhook. I dont wanna find out though
  12. i said taking it off completely could be bad if you have to chop. but with a skyhook it's so fast that it might/might not matter
  13. nothing permanent. Just travel the world and only work when you NEED too. Dont worry about bills, obligations, commitments and appointments. Just living free!!!
  14. i just loosen mine to the confluence fold. By that point it is already loose so it makes no sense to take it all the way off. That way just in case I have to chop. Although I do have a skyhook so it might not matter. Oh well. Talk to instructors or jumpers you know and see what they have to say.
  15. i SHOULD do a self budget but I know the amount is well over 12K in two years. I'll just pretend I dont know
  16. it is definitely part of the cycle. Dont tell industry that though. They like keeping people on bandwagons
  17. sweet. thanks. good website. i have had this talk with other people but now it will help me clarify
  18. i grew up pentecostal christian for 16 years and right around 2 years ago on my 22 birthday I started using my head instead of going with the flow. Through lots and lots of real historic research, anthropology journals and books I have realized that is all an idea that was accidentally taken the wrong way. I am not atheist. An atheist is someone who says God does not exist. That's equally as bad as the people who says he does. Nobody knows. It's foolishness to say that one person does. Unless that person has special powers that I don't. I don't believe in a God or Gods. Do they exist? Who knows. But logically speaking I believe that they do not. Religion has evolved at the same pace as society. Before that it was animism, for almost 100,000 years, (the belief that your energy, after you die, is absorbed into the earth and flows through all life around. That is what I believe happens and rationality and science says it does also). Needing to be saved by a savior is not inherent to humanity. It is based on conditions created by man due to the historical evolution of war, famine, population based disease, etc. My sister is currently taking an ancient Judaism class at UPITT and was telling me about how they "added" the idea of heaven and hell for power and control as people were so superstitious on what happens after death. Pretty crazy shit. Created for superstitious people then and superstitious people are still buying it. Also, did anyone know that the idea of a resurrection wasn't even added until 690AD. Pretty nuts. Jesus, Buddha, Muhammad, Krishna, etc. were all just activist hippies that were taken the wrong way. Great message of peace and love but no "magical" stuff. The way i look at it is if there were really one God and one way there would be. Not thousands of different religions. Christianity alone has over 34,000 sects. If people really knew why the OT was written in 1,200 BC then they would have NO CHOICE as a rational, freethinking human but to dismiss the NT and all the "divinity and fairy tale" stuff. Holy shot. sorry about the tangent. Religion and politics. Go hand in hand but people can talk forever. No I am not a believing christian anymore. I am now a more rational person who thinks for himself and has never felt better!!!
  19. thats why I am getting into paragliding!!!!!! I'll keep jumping though. Just a little less
  20. i had a brand new TRI 175. Just rolled the noes a little. Had a slammer from hell at SDLI once. Also, go drag it through the dirt and dust and get ready for some slippery fun. Now I have a Pilot 150 and LOVE IT!!!!! It was slippery at firt but it was a 150 going in a bag for a 175. nICE!!!
  21. if it's not a pilot than we dont care!!!!! Just kidding, but seriously. Nah, what did you get man and what size? Gotta be careful or we might get moved to general skydiving forum.
  22. who is the both? Regulator and?????I am just wondering, not being rude.
  23. that's why people believing in a savior is not logical and silly. To each his own I mean but it's nuts. Needing to be saved by a savior is not inherent to humanity. It is a condition created by man do to the historical evolution of society. Greed, famine, population based disease, war and conquest, etc. The list goes on.
