  1. I sent one in for a 4-year that was fine and it was returned broken. No button for that choice.
  2. I got a nice first person perspective of a riser stall on video. I left a nice chunk of jumpsuit and ass on the taxiway. Someday I'll break down and get that canopy relined, its silly far out of trim and bit me a good one.
  3. I agree. I was rather disappointed until I chopped up my tongue switch and soldered on a stereo plug. I'm a lot happier now. For the difference in price and 1/2 pound of weight I will not be complaining about the performance.
  4. I tested the stereo plug at lunch - a lucent telephone headset just happen to have the mute button wired the same as the tongue switch but with a stereo plug - works perfect. It shoots like it would by just stabbing the shutter release and when I let off on the button it start to write to CF. Looks like soldering a stereo plug onto the tongue/bite switch is the answer.
  5. I tried a bite switch also and yes, same problem. It appears to be related to the plug but until I get to test it or someone that knows for sure posts - I'm not 100% sure. Current theory: In a mono plug the contacts for AF/AE are closed and it stays in this mode. It looks like the software will not clear the buffer in this mode. A stereo plug would leave those open and depending on the wiring close the AF/AE switch and shutter at the same time, or never close the AF/AE switch only the shutter release. A 2 position switch would be the most elegent solution.
  6. I noticed the same problem just before nationals. My 300D does not clear any buffer while the tongue switch is plugged in, after filled it is down to single shot and write to the CF card. I upgraded the firmware to 1.1.1 in hopes that would help, no chance. Looks like the soldering iron is coming out tonight. The tongue switch is completely hotglued into the helmet, great fun. While I'm cutting and hacking anyway I might work on converting the tongue to double switch like a Bite for AE / tongue for shutter - Don't know if that would be good or bad at this point.
  7. Because I'm insane, drink a lot and like to play with fiberglass. I stuck a couple pictures of what I've done. I have not had trouble or heard of trouble with the stroboframe, just wanted to build something.
  8. Of course, I'm sure disgusting mixed drinks will be made - there better be liqueur in FL. I don't see much point in going all the way to Florida just to stay sober. At least 3/5 of the team will not be for any longer than is absolutely necessary. See you down there Portia, make sure you're all sporting FF4 thongs.

    Mr. Bill

No, I didn't firewire Chris or Jonathan's video angle and I'm only now transferring my video angle to the 'puter. Those were just the a couple stills Jonathan shot from my digital. Chris has the best angle of getting forcefully removed - my angle is just koas and spinning. Here is a couple from my video.

    Mr. Bill

Yesterday we did a Mr. Bill. This was my first (beer was purchased), I piloted. Our first plan was to use my Alpha 94 - we later sobered up and I grabbed a 190 something - turned out to be a ProSeries. Around 2.0 wingloading. Everything went well until "Bill" tried to climb over the slider and face forward - the canopy stalled, hucked him off violently, sent me into line twist that trapped my right hand in the risers. I kicked out and landed fine. It was hard enough to fly at 2.0 wingloading with someone climbing around on shoulders and lines - I'm glad we didn't grab something smaller. This was well a documented Mr. Bill with 3 video angles and stills. I attached a couple cropped stills from the chase pilot. Webster
  11. I reproduced those setting. 1/500, F8, ISO200, large/fine, SanDisk Extreme 512MB CF card, manual mode, manual focus, parameter 2, 60 seconds time. 300D firmware 1.0.2. In continuous mode 27 shots In single mode 24 shots I tried this with the same settings but indoors - grossly underexposed. I was able to shoot in the 40s then but the files were unusable. I don't think I'll be able to squeeze any more shots out of my camera in 60 seconds. Webster
  12. I did a similar test with my Digital Rebel and had almost the exact results. The 3 cards I used were a 256MB Lexar 40x WA, a 512MB SanDisk Extreme and an old 1997 30MB SanDisk I had around. I used Program AE, parameter 2. Left everything in auto from there. Used 60 seconds as the test time. Files sizes varied a little but were ~2.1MB in large/fine. Lexar 40x Raw 11 Large/fine 26 Med/fine 31 SanDisk extreme Raw 13 Large/fine 28 Medium/fine 34 Old SanDisk Medium/fine 28 (not enough capacity for other tests) The SanDisk Extreme did a little better than the Lexar but not much. 13. Slow does not even begin to explain Jonathan. You call that double checking your gear? More like the sex acts of a snail. Everyone else can check check gear in a reasonable time - then I end up on camera step burning DV tape while you turn on your still camera on jumprun anyway.
  14. I made myself a Protrack cover out of fiberglass for my NvertigoX helmet. Its not too hard to do, just make sure you protect the Protracks - the heat from the reaction messed up my screens a little bit.
  15. C21:00 Condensation. Remove the cassette, and insert it again after one hour.
  16. E61:10 Zoom operations fault (Cannot initialize zoom lens.) Inspect the lens block zoom MR sensor (Pin 2,3 of CN171 of CD-234 board) when zooming is performed when the zoom lens is operated and the zoom motor drive circuit (IC401 of VC-227 board when zooming is not performed.
  17. Try here: http://www.extremefly.com/aerodynamics/images/linespecs.jpg The Viper is the same as the Cobalt according to Atair. Sorry, don't know how to make it clicky. Webster
  18. 10+ bruises inflicted on froglady: 13:0 That's what you get playing with boys. You wouldn't bruise as much if..never mind I'm in trouble already.
  19. He was not as funny while employed. All that sitting around and chasing sheep must give him more opportunities.
  20. Our team vidiot just got his last week. He does not have a helmet for it yet, so it has not been jumped. I played around with it. It looks like a great camera. Smaller than the 101 (much, much smaller than my 100) and with all the bells and whisltes. I could see no negatives to it. He floats around the forums one-in-awhile as Sin - you can PM him for more detail.

    Six Sigma

I opened Minitab once during training. What a piece of shit. I'm sure it it a product of six sigma engineering. I completely forgot about Minitab and tried to find it on my 2 GE computers - I obviously de-installed it a long time ago.

    Six Sigma

Sure do. I work for GE, a couple years ago we were told we had to all be green belts by the end of the year - so I pulled some charts out the thin air and went drinking with the black belt. Now I'm in the club. Since then I have successfully ignored the entire stupid fucking system. You are lucky to get out with only 3 hours of your life.
  23. I can only go off the PC100 and PC110. The PC100 is easy to break down, the 110 significantly harder. The lens assembly was one of the easier sections on both and comes out as one piece. If it is contamination: canned air, q-tips and alcohol (for you and the camera) can clean it up. Otherwise, board level work would require special test equipment and a lab - plus, even minor parts end up being more expensive than Sony's flat rate plan. I fixed mine once, where a single grain of sand jammed the capistan servo motor.
  24. I posted the information from the PC100 service manual states for the E61:00 error. The alarms could be different but so far I have found that the alarms are mostly the same between the different PC cameras. "E61:00 Difficult to adjust focus (Cannot initialize focus.) Inspect the lens block focus MR sensor (Pin wf,wg of CN171 of CD-234 board) when focusing is performed when the control dial is rotated in the focus manual mode, and the focus motor drive circuit (IC401 of VC-227 board) when the focusing is not performed." If you cannot find anything simple, it'll need service.
  25. Nope, Froglady changed her mind again. Women! We will be at Orange watching the rain this weekend.
