  1. I think "Whale Speak" is a very similar style of communication to Talk Balk. John Arizona Hiking Trails
  2. Oh yes I am! Just finished it. Took an additional 20 minutes to pry her away from the TV for bed. John Arizona Hiking Trails
  3. It is a lot of fun. It is getting kinda cold to be up there, that high for extended period of time, but in the summer/early fall it is a blast. On the last load of the day, bring yourself a nice cold beer (cans only), keep it on ice in a accessible fanny pack. Hop N' Pop -- Pop the Top! enjoy your leisurely float to earth. ***Remember it is illegal to drink a beer and then jump out of a plane. It is not illegal to jump out of a plane and then drink a beer. On another note, I noticed that quite often I feel some apprehension while hanging up there for so long. Spending 20 minutes under canopy gives you time to realize that your hanging suspended in the air by shoe laces! Enjoy the ride! John Arizona Hiking Trails
  4. I am a rigger and actually finished packing one about 15 minutes ago. I like them and the Talon reserve system. Very clean deployment system, not a lot of flaps, strong pilot chutes. I am not a fan of the main container Walrus teeth, however. John Arizona Hiking Trails
  5. It is but at that point in the journey, it turns south. Technically, you are on I-10 East. John Arizona Hiking Trails
  6. AZ 377 is a boring road and AZ 260 is under major construction. If I were you, I'd take I-40 to Winslow and take AZ 87 south through Payson and down to US-60. Take US 60 west to I-10 and I-10 south to the DZ, John Arizona Hiking Trails
  7. Done recently. John Arizona Hiking Trails
  8. Put your helmets on if you want to be conscious for the fire. John Arizona Hiking Trails
  9. Thanks John Arizona Hiking Trails
  10. Anyone know the outcome of the Bronze medal race in Florida? Omniskore does not have any new information, but after 8 rounds, Soul Purpose and FSC Turbulence appear tied. Any info appreciated. John Arizona Hiking Trails
  11. Uh, Mark, didn't we have A LOT of trouble with our two-way yesterday We probably need some more practice John Arizona Hiking Trails
  12. Its my first haiku I wonder how I will do Can it rhyme also? John Arizona Hiking Trails
  13. A few years ago a guy died in Eloy on a late afternoon jump. No one realized he was missing. An employee of the restaraunt found his body 2? days later. I always look for those in my group, but I honestly would not notice if a solo on the same plane failed to return. John Arizona Hiking Trails
  14. Way to rock the final round! John Arizona Hiking Trails
  15. It means you can take bigger passengers! Actually, Strong Enterprises in the manufacture of one type of Tandem gear. John Arizona Hiking Trails
  16. I looked at the totals not the ranking. John Arizona Hiking Trails
  17. Actually it is fourth place. The ranking on Omniskore is broken. John Arizona Hiking Trails
  18. I am not sure of how the post works in the UK, but in the US, you can change your address by filling out a change of address form and dropping it in the mailbox. The form is just a post card. There is a required signature, but nobody checks to see if it is the person who is requesting to be moved. Fill out a change of address for your friend and have him "moved" to someplace either remote or busy. Alaska is usually nice. The central IRS office is usually too busy to realize their getting someone's electric bill to care. It will take weeks before your friend realizes what has happened and more weeks to get it straightened out. Your involvement will never be known. I would only suggest this course of action if really necessary. John Arizona Hiking Trails
  19. I don't think that I would ever get used to just paying the extra five bucks. The more I pack the better I get and the faster I can do it. If I can get it down to like 10 min to pack, on avg... thats like 35$/hr I am earning on my own. I can pack in 10 but I am lazy on days that begin with "T". -- Today, Tomorrow, Thaturday, Thunday. John Arizona Hiking Trails
  20. After a while you will get better. Then you will realize that it is easier to throw your rig to a packer. You just get used to paying the extra 5 bucks a jump! John Arizona Hiking Trails
  21. Dan BC has lovely children who need a college education and he has a Tunnel (or soon will) You can accomplish two things in one act. John Arizona Hiking Trails
  22. While I understand the intent, I worry about how this will play out. Why is 2-d practice/engineering such as creeping okay, but 3-d wind tunnel practice/engineering not okay? What about visualization, is that permitted? John Arizona Hiking Trails
  23. Many times rotations are the result of levels within the formation. If all else fails to stop the formation from rotating, drop all grips. This forces every one fly and if someone is floaty, heavy, backsliding or turning it will become apparent quickly. Then when everyone is flying solo and straight down in their slot, rebuild the formation. John Arizona Hiking Trails
  24. According to my spreadsheet logbook, 1 jump every 1 day 14 hours for the last 11.5 years. John Arizona Hiking Trails
