    Time Clock Off

Anyone know anything about the date stamp on email? I received an email today at 4:47 PM CST, but it showed as 21:47... and it is hardly that late... Clues, hints? I may disagree with what you have to say, but I shall defend to the death your right to say it. - Voltaire

    Talk back

I am not saying have no moderators, I am saying that this type of specialized forum would not require all the Talk Back moderators to be watchdogs... one or two moderators can handle this forum.... Maybe a solution could be a seperate forum for American Politics then? Make the conversations a "closed door" so to speak... and only people that want to participate or read along will go in there... hence it would not bog down talk back, not all talk back mods would have to moderate it, and the rest of the world can just ignore it. Entering the Pub Chat

I am trying to enter the Pub Chat section, however, I keep running across this message: Welcome to Dropzone.com Chat! Connecting to home.chatworlds.net 7000 ..... Unable to connect to server. Connection close. Am I just not setup to use the Chat function? I may disagree with what you have to say, but I shall defend to the death your right to say it. - Voltaire

Here is a lowly suggestion: Have someone that doesn't mind the political/gun control debates be a moderator in ONLY THOSE FORUMS, no others. Then, other greenies that don't appreciate the political forums can just ignore them... What say you? I am doing my best not to instigate anything, so bare with me... I am only playing Devil's Advocate here... True, I can go there to read all I want about politics, but I also want to discuss politics from time to time. A lot of those websites that are geared for politics don't allow bulletin board forums because of different reasons (from ignoring people that disagree to money spent on campaing/advertising). I agree that HH could better use the bandwidth and money, and I also agree that if I search enough, there are sites out there that posting is allowed. However, the people posting are not skydivers and generally are untrustworthy (see related post earlier). Talk Back was a place where these things may have been discussed, argued, or ignored, but you could almost always be assured that someone would post something... See, I have a problem with that mentality. I would like to know what the USPA lobbyists are doing in DC. I would like to know when or if any legislation is passed that outlaws jumping in certain areas or requires particular equipment. I would like to know what airlines allow/disallow parachutes to go on board. I would like to know when stupid laws like the "No Self-Mutilation Bill" get introduced. I also like to know what other people think of such issues because maybe they have heard something that I haven't. Furthermore, I trust skydivers more than I trust coworkers to be honest, open and opinionated... not just going along with the masses to get ahead in life. I think there is a contingent of posters that like the political forums and the debates that take place. Granted, a lot of them get heated to the point of needing locked, but at the same time, some very valid points are made. HH, I am not saying that you need to put it back up or that I demand a change, I am just fielding an opinion that I feel is shared by other users of this site. I think a seperate forum for politcs only may not be a bad idea (properly moderated, of course). edited: Less biased, more factual... Packers and Packing Mats

if I pack outside, I have a tarp layed down on the grass and a sheet nearby to cover rigs up with. packing mat or no, it is just polite to respect the investments. I may disagree with what you have to say, but I shall defend to the death your right to say it. - Voltaire

agreed. not only is it faster and gentler on the rig, but it shows respect for other people's belongings... I may disagree with what you have to say, but I shall defend to the death your right to say it. - Voltaire

    VectorIII reserve

Correction: NOT VIII, it was V2.5 packed under V2 instructions. Bill, Egon has the information and the person this happened to. They will be able to provide further and more detailed information. DZ.commers, check in at SkyKat tent and we might get at dz.com jump together. (It was posted on page 1, but I thought it important enough to post here too). VectorIII reserve

First of all, I take no offense to anything anyone says. These, afterall, are FORUMS, NOT LAWS. Online forums force opinions, and everyone knows the cliche on opinions. Secondly, AM I MISINFORMED? NO. I SAW THE RESERVE BEING PULLED AND NOTHING HAPPENING!!!! At the time, I didn't think to investigate for two reasons. Number one, I don't jump a VIII; number two, it wasn't my rig. I decided to post this because I responded to someones question about what rig to buy and if there were any 'qwirks' about it. After posting what I witnessed, I was asked by a greeny to investigate. I did my research with others that witnessed it as well. The jumper this happened to fought his battle with RWS and my DZO was with him at the time. I would have thought this to be an isolated incident with a poor reserve pack (not my pack). But ANOTHER jumper had the same thing happen at a different dz by a different rigger, but this time at terminal velocity (yes, he too had a VIII). Now I ask you all, coincidence? Am I poorly misinformed? Did I print hearsay? I printed what my DZO found out by representing the jumper. Lastly, if what I have found out is in fact a bunch of garbage that has no business in a factual forum, why hasn't a greeny deleted my posts yet? Maybe, just maybe, there is a little truth in this? By no means is it intended to have everyone jump ship and ditch RWS, but it IS intended to make you aware that there were occasions that gear failed, and if you are concerned, you have to make the decision to further investigate or just forget about it. But please don't attack me, my knowledge, my experience or my sources. Good Day. I may disagree with what you have to say, but I shall defend to the death your right to say it. - Voltaire

    VectorIII reserve

I have discussed thoroughly with my DZO and rigger about the VectorIII reserve firing problem. This was a problem that occurred when the rig first came out. There was a revision made to the manufacturers recomended packing of the reserve pilot chute. Normally, Vectors have the fabric of the reserve PC tucked along the sides of the coil (from the spring loaded reserve PC, just so everyone understands). The container is narrow the way it is, so tucking the fabric along the sides caused the reserve PC to get hung up during deployment. Vector released a revision, but unpublicized, stating that the PC material should be packed under the coil of the spring loaded reserve PC rather than outside. This change has allowed for clean depolyment on the VectorIII. The rig in question was sent to the factory and everything was proven to be ok. Feel free to ask further questions. I will answer them the best I can, and if I don't have the answer, I will find it. I think I have publicized this more than Vector ever did. Blue Skies! Infinity container

I have had some discussion as to this remark. I WILL create a post that will discuss this tomorrow. I need to talk to my rigger about the situations that were witnessed. I know that this is now a giant red flag for anyone that jumps VectorIII, so let me get to the bottom of it and back up my allogation. YOU WILL SEE A POST ABOUT THIS NO LATER THAN TOMORROW. I apologize for the scare, I thought that this may have happened at other DZs across the country/world.
