I upgraded my Windows 7 VM to the 10 Beta a few months ago and have been running it fine. When the upgrade came out, I upgraded my 8.1 laptop to 10 and haven't had much issue with it. The only things I can think of off hand were oddities with drivers but nothing that a driver upgrade didn't take care of. I'm a county network engineer and I guess I work for a different county. Also, someone commented on her facebook post and linked to this similar sounding site (though not directed towards skydiving): Clicky Their webpage Clicky states this: Victor airways were/are highways in the sky, much moreso than RNAV. RNAV gives you better ability for direct routing which means that it's possible for less planes to fly a given path if they're not going/coming to/from the same airports. Sounds like they're talking about a departure procedure, which is used to keep traffic flowing in an orderly fashion until they get to their transition point. There seems to be one departure procedure that is not RNAV, but it's very likely that there were more before the RNAV were implemented. Given the busy airspace in that area, they're probably using the DPs quite often. Unfortunately for aviation and skydiving there are plenty of these loons out there and with social media, they're finding easy ways to communicate. Though it doesn't sound like common sense is being utilized and when one fails, the others think they will be different. At least they still give you a pension at 20 years. Police and firefighters have a similar program. In fact, it seems only the union govt. jobs have that kind of thing anymore. Local governments like the one I work for give a retirement at 30 years, if you last that long. I'm at 2.61 years and seriously debating jumping ship... What about those people who have 10G capable switches with 10G NICs in their desktop and multi SSD arrays? OK, let's see pics of your desktop and home switch. I didn't say that I had that sore of equipment, however I do have more than most with a C2960S and multi gig portchannel to my ESXi server. If 10g was available (or anything over 1g really) I could reason for a 10g NIC and a higher end switch, but hey, this one was free. Well, a new canopy with 70 jumps is why you're having problems. I'd say if it looks good coming out (get an experienced instructor or rigger to make that call) then keep on trucking with what you're doing. Packing a new canopy has made a lot of experienced jumpers say screw it and using packers, so you're not alone there. The trick with it all is a fine touch and a little technique. You'll find some packers shove it in there, but there are some that will make it look easy and beautiful every time. Keep an eye on what they're doing and how they're doing it and you might pick up on what it is. A little bit too much pressure could cause the canopy to go sliding out somewhere, so pay attention to it, only use enough to hold it where you need it. Oh and practice, practice, practice! I believe the only want to access (dump) the crap, is via a manual valve that must be operated from under the aircraft, so unless superman was fucking with someone, I doubt it came from a jet liner. I am skeptical of that; Can anyone verify it is even possible to dump the tanks in mid-air? I can't think of any kind of emergency that would require that ability. In my limited experience with airplanes, I have never heard of a way to dump the waste overboard while in flight. In Tampa at least, this has been a big issue, people getting nailed jay walking, so they started putting crosswalks in the busiest areas that now impact traffic, so that someone doesn't have to trouble themselves with walking to the corner with a light, which may be a block or two away. http://www.tampabay.com/news/transportation/roads/hillsborough-avenue-site-of-pedestrian-deaths-to-get-signal-crosswalk/2175271 I don't get what the whole point of it is, and usually the people that I do see it look like they could use a little more walking to the corner. It really disgusts me when I see a family with young kids and their parents are teaching them to do it. As far as the guy getting nailed by a car, I have heard of at least one instance of a car v girl and the girl got transported to the hospital (broken up but alive). After her surgery, there was a police officer there to issue her a citation for jaywalking. Not sure if that hit the drivers insurance, but it did make me feel at least a little better that someone will enforce it. The cops around here don't seem to care unless there's a collision though. That's pretty cool. Would be nice to have a little more endurance but still it's pretty cool to me. If they made a faster version (which would be pretty difficult I'd think) imagine the videos you could get of race tracks and such. Depends on the DZ and the instructor. I've seen places that let 100 jump people lurk tandems, but others that require a D license and instructional ratings (usually they'll settle for T-I or AFF-I). That's not to say you can have your AFF-I or T-I rating with a D license and walk into any random DZ and chase a tandem. While I was throwing drogues, if I didn't know you and nobody I trusted would vouch for your abilities, you're not going with me. I've seen enough people with D licenses that scared the crap out of me in the air to know that I don't want them near me while I can't maneuver out of their way. I'd be a little more lenient on an AFF-I because there is some pretty good flying that comes with that training/rating, but in my experience T-I's that only throw drogues and don't fun jump often get sloppy in their flying.
