  1. Seen elsewhere: 'The question isn't "When did the world become 'Woke'? " ' It's 'When did your outlook become so evil and twisted that 'Woke' seems abnormal?'
  2. I used to go up into Canada on a regular basis. These days I pull a refrigerated trailer, and my company doesn't take those into Canada. The first time I fueled in Canada, I thought the pump was broken. They have a rule up there that both pumps don't go at the same time. I did my usual 'start the driver's side, go around, get the passenger side going, lift the hood and check fluids' process. When the passenger side shut off, I couldn't understand why the driver side hadn't filled. I hung the passenger side up and was going to go in and ask when I realized that the driver side had resumed. It took a minute for me to understand what was going on. I had an SUV (see below) that had a 7700# towing capacity. In the 8 1/2 years I owned it, I can count the times I towed a trailer on one hand. Some people tow on a regular basis. Most don't. Yup. Expensive, 'exotic' luxury cars depreciate a LOT faster than 'regular' cars. Back in 2015, on a Porsche forum I participate in, I learned that a 'ten year old Cayenne with 100k on it can be found for under $20k.' It took a bit of looking, but I found an 05 Turbo with 103k on it for a bit under $16k. Sticker price (window sticker was in the inch thick stack of maintenance records) was $93k. Over 80% in ten years. The Porsche Panamera is similar. Bentleys are worse. I know a guy (on the Porsche board) who got a 'not terribly old' Bentley for $50k. $300k plus new.
  3. Yeah, not watching the pump nozzle when you are putting gas in is REALLY stupid. And dangerous. Note: In the US, for a vehicle hauling hazardous materials (HazMat), it's legally required to be in view of the pump when fueling.
  4. What's 'weird' about it? It's the first Friday after the first full moon after the Spring Equinox. Which makes perfect sense if you understand the importance of the spring fertility festivals for the Northern European Pagans. The Easter Bunny, Easter eggs, even the name "Easter" (derived from "Ishtar"). All just as Pagan as the Christmas Tree, Yule Log, even jolly old Satan Claus.
  5. Oh please. He's said a lot more clueless stuff than that in the past.
  6. It could simply be that people are getting sick & tired of seeing the results of unrestricted capitalism. Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, that 'super successful' businessman Trumpty Dumpty. And don't forget that the ENTIRE Republican party has sold out to them. Including the 'conservatives' on the Supreme Court.
  7. When there's no actual message, just accusations and allegations, then attacking the messenger is the only option. Still waiting for any proof of 'Biden's corruption'. Not holding my breath that you have any.
  8. Yes. My missing the 'electric furnace' part in the previous post was important. Electric heat is high consumption. Toss in "Canadian Plains" climate and it increases significantly. I have an oil burner myself (northeast WI). Even with a level 2 (240v) car charger installed, I'm nowhere near 100 amps. If I went to electric heat (say the furnace failed and I had to run space heaters - which is not conjecture), I likely wouldn't be able to charge the car at the same time.
  9. Evidence? From him? Oh puh-leeeeeeeeze.
  10. They aren't looking for actual solutions. They're looking to scare the crap out of their idiot supporters. You know, the 'uneducated' that Trump loves so much. They're looking for 'someone' to blame. They will then paint themselves as the only people who can 'save the country'. Standard despot tactics. Just like, you know, Hitler.
  11. I do wish people would stop calling them conspiracy theories. A scientific theory is a tested, demonstrated, clearly accurate and truthful explanation for observed phenomenon. Relativity, evolution, gravity (still needs work), that sort of thing. The 'Biden Crime Family' isn't a theory. It's a conspiracy FANTASY. Same as "fake moon landing", "Illuminati controls the whole world", "9/11 truthers" and a host of others that are blatant bullshit.
  12. Well, considering that EVERY ballot measure on abortion has gone against them, I can see why. The only way they can win is to deny people the right to vote. This does not apply only to abortion.
  13. The right became the ones with the indefensible ideas. You know, the Nazis.
  14. It's against the rules to give this the retort it truly deserves.
  15. It's a hundred and six miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses. Some people plan ahead. https://www.google.com/search?q=blues+brothers+it's+106+miles+to+chicago&rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS910US910&oq=Blues+brothers+it's+&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUqBwgDEAAYgAQyBwgAEAAYgAQyBwgBEAAYgAQyBggCEEUYOTIHCAMQABiABDIHCAQQABiABDIHCAUQABiABDINCAYQABiGAxiABBiKBTINCAcQABiGAxiABBiKBTINCAgQABiGAxiABBiKBTINCAkQABiGAxiABBiKBdIBCDYxNTlqMGo3qAIAsAIA&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:42ed1a77,vid:gvKs2VLmVnY,st:0
  16. Onto another one. Gerard Randall is (was) a prominent GOP leader in Wisconsin. He had a significant role in bringing the Republican National Convention for 2024 to Milwaukee. He was also paid a lot of money by the Milwaukee County School Board as executive director of the non-profit Milwaukee Education Partnership. It turns out that the non-profit didn't do a lot of work it was paid for. It also turns out that the non-profit lists a lot of prominent people as board members, who say they have nothing to do with it. Source:https://www.wpr.org/gerard-randall-resigns-rnc-host-committee-secretary He's resigned, and the Milwaukee School District has 'ended it's affiliation' with the non-profit, but nobody is willing to say if he's going to pay the money back for the work he didn't complete. Or the work he was paid for that duplicated work done by others.
  17. I don't think any of the Rs seem to realize that if they actually manage to get a conviction (which is virtually impossible), then the person taking the Oval Office will be... Kamala Harris. So they're trying to get her into the Presidency. Again, I don't think they've really thought this one through. Which isn't super surprising.
  18. The kid is black. It's in Mississippi. I would be surprised, if it went to trial, if the kid was acquitted.
  19. So far, EVERY person called to testify in front of the committee has said (under oath) that Biden has done nothing that merits impeachment. I'm reminded of the old joke where a witness is being sworn in for testimony during a trial. Upon being asked to tell 'the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth', the witness points at both the prosecutor and defense attorney and replies "I will if they will".
  20. Don't hold your breath. Letting reality get in the way of his fears and hatred is something that's NOT gonna happen.
  21. OK, I missed the part about converting the heat too.
  22. I don't know of any houses in.my town that don't have electricity already up and running. The infrastructure is largely there already. Would you? I have 100 Amp in my house. I also have a 30 Amp 240v breaker that I wasn't using (for an A/C that I've never used in 20 years). That adapted nicely to power a 24 Amp level 2 charger. I can put a normal day's worth of electricity back into the battery in 4 hours or so. If I had a 2nd car, both could easily be charged, not simultaneously. Edit to add: Electric cars aren't for everyone. I spent a decent amount of time evaluating what I needed, what I had and how it would fit my life. It looked good on paper, and has worked out well so far.
  23. You have to understand their point of view. THEY want the freedom to dictate how everyone else lives their lives. While, at the same time, insisting that THEY can do anything they want.
