  1. Contacted both rental places ... it looks like what they have available are large units (28ft to 31ft) that sleeps 6 to 8 people. Anybody else interested in sharing one with me? The other question to the group, do I need to contact the DZ to arange for power hookup prior to making arangements with the RV place to deliver it? Thank you ... sorry for all the questions ... LP virgin :) O
  2. There's a couple places listed here. http://www.skydivelostprairie.com/Travel-Tips.html Having camped for 6 years, if you do wind up camping, my biggest recommendation is to bring warm clothes to sleep in - it makes a huge difference. My (oh-so-sexy) outfit of choice became long johns tucked into thick socks with fleece pants on top, then on top, a long-sleeve T-shirt with a hoodie sweatshirt. Big baggy fleece hat that pulls down over my ears, and the hoodie pulled up to keep my neck warm and keep the hat on. Of course, part of the need for that much is that I'm kind of stubborn about sleeping bags - I really really don't like the super-warm mummy style ones, so I've either slept in a less-warm rectangular bag, or on an air mattress under blankets and a comforter. So if you're willing to mummify, you may not need quite as much. Holly ... if I need that much clothing to keep warm, I'm definitely not going to do well with tenting ... I can't handle being cold!!! I'm glad I asked - thanks K. O
  3. Alright … as we’re getting closer and I need to start thinking about what to pack, I’m starting to get slight “cold feet” about my commitment to tent it the whole week. I go to boogies every year and I camp at Z-hills all the time … in a trailer
  4. Not fair ... you talked me into going ... I'll be there for the entire week ... you must come ... O
  5. Something about that line makes me think I need to be worried ... do I? First time to that part of the country and first timer to LP ... O
  6. I see you guys are still up to your old (perverted) tricks ... nice collection of ... umm ... weiner . O
  7. Still? Several months away from this place and not a thing has changed. I had hoped you guys got to help the poor thing
  8. you can have all of that, just make sure the 5 of them never meet Indeed
  9. :0:0 It has been a freakin' long, cold winter. Last year we were already jumping in April ... this year we still got some snow on the ground and the temps are still in the 40s. Blah ... O
  10. I spent 10 days in Singapore in 2007 … beautiful place … I was bored out of my mind though. All I remember is the Singapore Zoo and great food. Thailand was OK, though if gorgeous sea and beautiful beaches is what you have in mind, I thought the Caribbean is much more pretty … and much closer too. I loved visiting some of the temples there. Hong Kong was by far my favorite among the places I’ve visited in that part of the World … the view from the Victoria’s Peak was breath taking. Great night life too … a little expensive … O
  11. Beautifuly said ... I don't think I need to read any further
  12. With a "little" push from ladydyver and K-Dubs, I've made the commitment - I'll be there
  13. So sad to hear about this ... I loved Muppet and his energy. He always had possitive and encouraging words during my days as a scared AFF student. Sad, sad, sad day . O
  14. :0:0 I spent the weekend recovering from jetlag ... I haven't jumped in 2 months and I'm already strarting to "itch" for some altitude. Just back from Hawaii and planning my next trip already- ZHILLS!!!!! O
  15. Love doggies and don't like reading/hearing this - sending good vibes your way for you and your furry friend ... O
  16. Bring a jacket ... it got cold fast this Fall. Also, plan for mostly indoor activities for the first part of the weekend - we expect an early Nor'Eastern to blow thru with lots of rain and wind ... O
  17. :0:0 So my jumping dry spell continues ... it just got too freakin' cold all of the sudden this season ... and still plenty of windy days . How about everyone else? O
  18. So why did you blame "pilot only spotting" so quickly? Why? Rhetorical question, right? Because it seems to be common practice for skydivers of shit on DZ's that aren't theirs. I am guilty of having done this myself a few times … when I was a new jumper and took the lead of those more experienced – and that is what I observed everyone do. For a self-professed group of very tolerant, welcoming and accepting individuals, skydivers can be very judgmental at times. This was a low experience visiting jumper … first jump at Pepperell … low pull, Vigil fire. How is that the fault of the pilot or anyone at the drop zone??? (Yeah, another rhetorical question.) This is not a “pilot spotting only” DZ. I’ve done almost 100 jumps there this summer and can tell you it is common practice to look out the door before climbing out. O
  19. Nice picture ... nice muscles ... do you know if he is available (i.e. single)? O Nope, very happily and schmoopily in love. At least if their FB posts to each other are to be believed. Damn ... too bad - LOL!!! And yes, Facebook seems to be the measure by which all relationships are being measured these days ... O
  20. Nice picture ... nice muscles ... do you know if he is available (i.e. single)? O
  21. ... and just like that, the thread got hijacked by "IT dorks" and their IT dork speak . Love it!!! O
  22. I relate to very little in your “list of reasons” and that’s perhaps because I’ve been in the sport too short of a time to get involved in the politics of it (though I’m aware of their existence.) I’m of the belief that if one isn’t completely into it, skydiving is not something one should do. I used to think it’s the kind of activity that never gets old … but I’m not so certain anymore. After spending almost every weekend of my Summer at the DZ and doing over 100 jumps in spite of being “self-grounded” a lot due to windy conditions, over the past couple of weeks I just didn’t “feel it”; I didn’t feel like jumping … and I didn’t. As much as I hate the loss of a woman in the sport (there are so very few of us), I do believe you are doing the right thing. If you are so disheartened and disillusioned with the sport (or its politics) a break from it (temporary or permanent) is the right thing to do. Skydiving isn’t everything … and the sky will always be there if you decide to return to it. Good luck. O
