  1. Ohh Yeah................My Boy Simon, Amy Chmelecki, and Melanie Curtis organizing. I'll be there, and hope a lot of the Old Crew of freefylers will show. Don't worry about the rust...........It'll look like your jumping with smoke. And that' cool. Hope to see a Great turnout from the freeflyers from NC, SC, GA, FL, and VA.
  2. Hopefully Tony or the Organizers will hop in here and announce. But Raeford is starting Freefly weekends with World Class Freefly organizers in March. So Finally you'll start seeing 10+ ways footage coming out of NC. I'm so happy that I don't have to spend $1000 to travel to Eloy or Fl to get in some quality Freeflying. Can't wait to here the official announcement, with dates..............Tony???
  3. I think they make about $1 per hour and table scraps.
  4. Yes I think most people have a dominant leg position that they default too. However the goal is to fly in any leg position, especially with larger Freefly formations.
  5. I think he's flying pretty well for the amount of Tunnel Time he has. Not sure what you think is so old school about Olav. Looks to me like he is learning a new discipline (Tunnel), and applying a shit load of Freefly experience. I guess your tunnel skills can match his in the sky huh?? I'd like to see your pidley 4000 jumps match 24,000 jumps of experience. That would be funny to watch. Hey were you on the 108 way Record???? He was, but I don't see how that was possible with him being so "Old School". You sound like a [PA removed by slotperfect].
  6. Cool.........Well then count me in. I'll talk to you about it, the next time I see you.
  7. No I don't think the 108 Way would have been possible without the Tunnel. I've seen many of the record holders spend a good amount of time in the tunnel. It's the fastest most efficient way to get thousands of jumps worth of experience that I know of. I will state that the Tunnel does not replace Big Way Skills that can only be learned skydiving. Such as Diving Down to the formation quickly and stoping on a dime. That takes a lot of skydiving to get really good at.
  8. I think you are missing my point here. My questions were legitimate questions about the tryouts. I wanted to know if they were actual tryouts or a skills camp. If they are tryouts...........I'm not ready, cause I havent built my skills up enough to do VFS in the Tunnel. If its purely a skills camp then I want to attend. Regarding your situation........Was it just a simple....We don't know you or anything about you......so show us what you can do and we'll sign you off??? That doesn't seem unreasonable to me. Do you have a profile on the IBA website showing your tunnel experience? If not how are they to know you can do what you say you can do, without seeing you do it. I see alot of experienced skydivers that go in the tunnel and think their skydiving numbers should be enough and often it isn't and they slam into the wall. I also see some slow speed tunnel (older tunnel), flyers try to hit a high speed tunnel and think there's no difference. In both cases there is a huge potential for folks getting hurt. When I went into the tunnel, I checked my ego at the door and went in to learn what I didn't know. Who cares if you have to start over. We never stop learning in this sport. My Point here is that I think it's reasonable for a Tunnel to ask you to show them what you can do before they will cut you loose in their tunnel. That includes having spotters for HD. If you don't need them that will be evident very quickley and they'll let you go.
  9. That seems Odd why would you not be able to fly on your head after 80 hours?
  10. Is this more of a Team Tryout or a Skills Camp? Tunnel Only or skydiving as well? For me personally............I cannot do VFS in a tunnel but I can in the sky. I know there should be no difference, but the tunnel screws with my head and confidence.
  11. Flying of the net in a controlled manner, moving in any direction, and for a full 2-4 minutes duration ??? Or lifting off the net, flying HD for 5 seconds and bailing out to your back? To me flying HD in the tunnel is the first not the second description. Theres a big difference between the two and the amount of time it takes to get there.
  12. I think you may be right. I pretty certain when the first generation came out as the GLS-XF and it had the partial cross bracing, but it appears that the newer model XFS does not. It does based on the current pictures on the website look like the XFS still has the partially closed nose on the end cells (like the JVX). That really sticks out in my memory. This was one of the major reasons I was interested in it at the time. None the less it appears to no longer be the case. I think the orignal marketing for the canopy GLS-XF was that it could be a GL or skydiving canopy, but I also think that is no longer the case. The GLX is the pure GL wing now. And partial cross bracing appears to have not panned out since the GLX is now a fully cross braced canopy and the XFS has none. There must have been issues or no performance benefits from partial cross bracing.
  13. If you have one can you answer if there is any cross bracing in any of the cells of this canopy?
  14. doublecheck with them, but I beleive this is the case.
  15. Is it just me or was there a boobie hanging out in that one picture. MMMMMM BOOBIES !!!
  16. See if your tunnel has after hours rates, discounted Tunnel Camps, or membership rates.
  17. Forget what you know and start over as a student, thats my best advice. Don't be in a hurry to get on your head. Learn everything completely, before you jump to the next stage. Took me about 10 hours, to get on my head. Had 1200 freefly jumps before the tunnel.
  18. Who Cares..........It's still exciting. Looks like a close battle at the top.
  19. Uh Oh............. Distance = 181.70m (Nick Batsch) But Jay is still on the top of the Leader Board. Nick is 4th.
  20. "The Sound of Music", by Julie Andrews.
  21. I agree 100% with this statement. Hook that Nitro back up and work that stuff out before switching to a cross braced. There are all sorts of techniques for keeping a canopy with high front riser pressure in a dive. I jump a JVX which has a metric shit ton (thanks Ross), of front riser pressure. So I use a combination of techniques to keep it in a dive. Half Brakes, Harness, slower carve, etc......
