  1. Alethia, Some of the advice on this thread is good and some is crap. I think any decent freeflyer can tell the difference. Find a LOCAL MENTOR at a DZ near you and seek their advice. Dont take advice from self proclaimed experts with 200 jumps, Very few Freeflyers can come close to mastering it in 200 jumps. (No Offense I had 200 jumps at some point too). Ask others if this person is actually a good and safe freeflyer. But even the best Freeflyer can be a lousy coach. I'm not a big proponent of having folks pay for my slot when I do coaching. I think any decent freeflyer should give back to the sport for free. But you may not find this to be the case where you jump. I agree you should work on head up flying first then head down. Sit is a much better recovery than belly or back (corking is bad). You should make sure your rig is freefly friendly. It never hurts to jump with someone that is good and safe to learn how to freefly. Just stick to two ways or solos until you have enough control to not be dangerous to others. Find that Local Mentor
  2. I do jump a Cross Braced but have jumped many of these canopies. The Poll is a good tool for opinions but I'd recommend jumping these canopiies and deciding for youself. The Katana and Crossfire II are simply the most popular right now. So most people will select one of them. The Alpha, Cobalt, and Samurai are hard to come by. So unless the folks responding to your poll have actually jumped most of thse canopies their choice really isn't objective. I have jumped all of these canopies with the exception of the Katana, Alpha, and Cobalt. My choice would be the Samurai. I guess what I'm saying is demo what you can and decide for yourself, what you like.

    OUCH U SAY ?

Definately the Pad. I remember pulling a D Handle when I was learning to Freefly. Equipment is one of the first things I teach new Freeflyers. D-Handles are bad news when you are jumping with others that are learning and reaching for docks.
  4. A little less than 2 weeks away. Can't Wait.
  5. I may not understand the physics of all this, but I do understand that when winds are high and I set up my 270 at 800 feet i come out way too high, and when i drop it down to 500 -550 Feet, i'm hitting the gates and landing perfectly. Maybe I'm defying Physics, but that's what's happening. We can discuus it at the Wicked Liquid Swoppers Boogie. I'm not too good at visualizing written explanations, I have to see what your talking about.
  6. Provided you know how to keep your canopy diving I agree with you............You can get away with a lower turn in higher winds though.
  7. What about Winds...........No One has mentioned what the winds are doing during these 500 ft 270's. I start my turns much higher on a no wind day than on a high wind day. I never stick with a standard height for all wind conditions. My 270 Hooks range from 500 feet on a smokin Windy Day to a 750 feet on a no wind / down wind day. Is it possible that Frost is at a DZ that consistently has higher winds. Altitude is also a factor. I noticed when I jumped in Tahoe or Montana that I needed to initiate my dives higher, or I'd be in the corner. Lastly..........Why is anyone comparing a 180 turn to a 270 turn, to a 360+ degree turn. I thought we were talking about 270's at 500 feet?
  8. Wicked Liquid is hosting another Jive Jam Event at Carolina Sky Sports (Louisburg, NC) August 25-26. We'd like to invite advanced freeflyers in the region to attend. The Focus will be on Big Way and VRW Freeflying. If you can fly slot specific on an 8 Way or bigger, or fly your slot on a multi-point freefly jump, we'd love to have you come. Please contact us at [email protected] or Register for our website at www.FFJive.com Team Wicked Liquid is also hoping to attempt a North Carolina State Record later in the year. Our Goal will be a 20 Way Freefly attempt.
  9. hmmmm Well all i can say is we've got some Long Time Velocity pilots at my DZ, that said "Thats a bad ass canopy" after they jumped my JVX. I think we are converting a few of them. I've added about 100 feet distance to my swoops since switching to the JVX. It's a very efficient wing. Just some food for thought.
  10. You may have answered your own question. The JVX flies allot like the VX only it swoops faster and farther and the openings are nicer. Hmmmmm sounds like a completely different canopy, huh? If you liked the VX you'll Fricken love the JVX. We are having a Swooping boogie at Skydive the Farm in Georgia on August 19-20. We'll have my spare JVX 99 available. And several folks will be there with JVX's. Perhaps Jim could send his JVX to us (Team Wicked Liquid), for the event. Jim can vouch for us. Have him contact us at [email protected] Harry P
  11. Joey, If I'm in London you can still use my Demo JVX99 and my camera. Obviously if anyone loses or damages my baby they pay for it. Perhaps in Blood
  12. Demo the VX then the JVX before you make a deciscion. i think both are comparable to the Velocity, but the JVX will blow you away. Sure try the Xaos too just to sample all the X-Braced.
  13. I wasn't going to reply to this because it's an old post and I rarely reply anyway. The only reason I even opened this post was because it was amusing to me that someone wanted to compare a Velocity to a Vengenace. I've owned a Vengenace in the past put 300-400 jumps on it. I've never jumped a Velocity but I can tell you there is NO COMPARISON. I have jumped the Xaos, VX, and own a JVX and I have more than 1000 high performance landings. The fact that you are asking the question shows to me that you should not be jumping a Velocity or any Cross Braced for that matter. Your responses to this thread are Red Flags for anyone with experience in this sport that you should not jump a higher performance wing than what you currently have. I put allot of jumps on my old Vengence in turbulent choppy winds, No Winds, Down Winds, Cross Winds. And it flew great. But then again I actually put enough jumps on it to learn the canopy. You have not. If you continue your progression with your lack of experience, currency, and irreverence for the advice of Experts. You will get hurt. Did you know that you got advice from atleast 3 PST competitors that I can count on this thread. Learn to take some advice Dude. Stick with what you got or call Chuck Blue for a reasonable canopy. Hope you don't get hurt. Harry P
  14. He tried with me as well........But thanks to this thread, I know not to respond. Good work folks. It's actually pretty easy to spot with the bad spelling and the complete lack of understanding of the product.
  15. Fair Enough.................. I still would very much like for Amanda and Lainey to come visit though
  16. You know if the Vibes and People are good what else matters. The fact that you have criteria before you visit a DZ is kind of Lame. I agree with Mr Freeflyimpared, please drop by my DZ when we are closed. However I'd love to have Amanda, Lainey, Skybytch, and Mr Impaired come by any time. HarryP
