  1. Well.. 19. I am an EMT and this is my personal opinion. Consulting a physician give you a better insight. The concern with blood pressure would take effect as you are climbing. Considering that Oxygen has high density, the Oxygen percentage will decrease as you are elevating in the sky. Since you are doing tandem, 10,000ft to 15,000ft exit altitude, the decrease in Oxygen will be very mild. The effect of this, if it had any, will be elevating the blood pressure as your heart will speed up the gas exchange in your lungs to overcome the decrease which was caused by the height. Without going into too much details, I personally believe that your blood pressure will be elevated as a consequence to the jump. I personally notice elevation in my blood pressure after I jump. I hope you will enjoy your jump -Amer "Those who would give up Essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety" Franklin
  20. Uhmm. I think the light travels at the rate of 3.0E8 meter/sec in vaccum. This means that it travels 300,000,000 meters/sec To conver to Miles per sec 300,000,000 (meters/sec) x (0.00062 miles/meter)= 186,000 miles/sec "Those who would give up Essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety" Franklin
  21. Very Interesting.. I remember from the old periodic table of elements that the atomic mass of carbon is 12g/mol while the atomic mass of oxygen is 15.99 g/mol. There are 6.022E23 atom in one mole of matter. Therefore, 1 carbon atom has less mass than one oxygen atom regardless whether oxygen appears in monoatmoic or diatomic form. Yes, Chemistry made more sense to me after I started skydiving!! "Those who would give up Essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety" Franklin

  23. I think your proposal is a great idea Establishing a new network system would be very hard though. I think it would be best to utilize already existing networks such as DZ.com to serve the purpose on focusing on the individual member. Skydiving is indeed exceptionally close-knit. This one factor that attracted me to this sport. Skydivers do look out for each others, at least in my home DZ. From my end, if any of you guys coming to Z-Hills, Fl, just hit me up . -Amer "Those who would give up Essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety" Franklin
  24. Very interesting responds that I didn’t expect. I come from very conservative society, Saudi Arabia; I am here in the US primarily for education. I picked up this sport last July. I haven’t had one week since then without making at least one jump before I broke my ankle. I am very close to my parents and I have informed both about my interest in the sport. They were actually very supportive. I speak to them on weekly basis; my mother, especially, always ask me about skydiving and how many jumps I have made recently. I severely ruptured/broke my ankle (along with a few bones in that same leg) on my 44th jump due to hard landing as I downsized to be under 1.2 WL. My father reaction to this was telling me a story about his friend who broke his knee into several fragments from falling while going down on the stairs. My father even offered helping me with buying my own canopy after I recover from the injury. GO DAD! I personally think that the most important thing is the way you approach your parents. Have fun skydiving Amer "Those who would give up Essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety" Franklin
  25. I am a new jumper like you are. My exit weight is from 285 to 295 lbs. Not sure because I didn’t want to break the scale. In the beginning I used to jump 300 sq ft with no problems. I downsized to 280 and finally to 260 as I was hoping to purchase 240. On my 44th jump I severely broke my ankle (along with two broken fragments in my tibia as well). My WL was 1.1:1 I jumped the 260 several times before the injury occurred, but I learned that if I got away with it once, it doesn’t mean it is safe to do it all the time. I am not in the position of giving you advise as I have the same experience as you do. However, from personal incident, BE VERY CAREFUL "Those who would give up Essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety" Franklin
