  1. I used to have an RS.5 and put a Spectre120 in there. It was quite tight, and it was a well used 7 cell. I didn't enjoy it.
  2. After 13 years of having an A license I decided to get a coach rating. Apparently you need a B license for that. so I just went ahead and filled everything out for the D license and there I am now. I went A -> D
  3. Have you ever jumped a Safire II, Crossfire 1 or II, or a Pilot? I am guessing not.... BTW,there are plenty of other canopies that open softer that a Katana and also not as heading sensitive as the Katana. *** Again, the Katana 170 is a docile parachute when flown conservatively. You have got to be kidding The Katana has a high angle of attack and when flown simply straight, it still carries a lot of speed. MEL +1 Next thing we'll have people suggesting velocity 120's for 100 lbs girls because they are 7cell and fly very stable at low wingloadings.
  4. Or you can go the budget route and just buy the risers...
  5. Some more GQ Unit pics. I love the lines too :)
  6. Imagine that you are a hardcore narcissist. Now ask your question again.
  7. I had a Juki LK982 mechanical cam driven tacker for a number of years. It was a good machine, but doing any kinds of adjustments was a major PITA. And it was super fast. Finally got me a Juki LK-1900-AHS for Valentine's day this year (no shit, no one loves me more than myself), and it's been my best friend since. After paying Mel for a chip with all the factory patterns I feel like I have been cheating myself for years by using a mechanical tacker. so - GET AN ELECTRONIC PROGRAMMABLE BARTACKER !!!
  8. I was trying to make a point - without seeing the container relative to something of a recognizable size, this will be quite useless to you.
  9. Here's a a pic of a V319 and of a V304 and V340 do you know which one is which ?
  10. Had an old model Preserve canopy in a PEP that got damn, and sat around forever. The old style preserves used cotton diapes, and it was completely rotted. I peeled the diaper off the canopy with almost no effort.
  11. You are full of contradictions. I too have jumped plenty of ravens. And I feel they open noticeably harder than a modern skydiving canopy. After all, they were designed and tested as reserves, right ? You can put larger slider, dacron lines, baffle the nose and customize your deployment brakes. And many $100's of dollars later you will still have a highly customized 1980's design canopy. I know the whole "old dogs don't like new tricks" attitude. And it doesn't work too well when you are talking about things that can kill you. At one point, you have to move with the progress. I recommend unbunching the undies and getting a more modern canopy.
  12. Adjust the attitude. Get a modern canopy. Fact check. I had dozens of spectra lined Ravens. (Microline is PD's marketing term)
  13. Grounded this one. Also had a few that smelled like they sat around for two decades in a basement with a moisture problem.
  14. If you want us to be excited- throw us a model number. Or we all can just assume it's an SQ9050
  15. Monarch is a ZP canopy. Whoever else posted above me should be ashamed of the BS garbage they wrote. "ZP is a square pattern ????" Raf up on what ripstop is. ..
  16. Nothing confusing about canopy getting out of trim. If the performance worsens to a point of you not liking it or feeling unsafe - it's time to reline. Pretty damn simple.
  17. it is 100% scam move on and mark the ad ad a scam
  18. Once your tail tag boxes are all filled out, you pay to ship the reserve back to PD, where for $25 they do the porosity test and advise of any repairs needed. Please see an attached picture for the result. Mentioning PIA has zero relevance, as they are not a federal agency, and have no governing power. You are not the type of person who thinks that violating a BSR will get you in trouble with Johnny Law, are ya ? BTW, you mention Optimium, PR and PD Reserve - ???? There's the PD Optimum, and the PD Reserve, written as PR on PD model number nomenclature, and a lot of times abbreviated as PDR.
  19. You sir have just taken the bait. You made an advice that you cannot backup. what is "that letter" that you are referring to ? and lastly - who the fuck are you ? Please list some qualifications. Giving advice is serious business, and having been registered for a year and having nearly 1000 posts is hardly equivalent of rigging experience.
  20. Actually I believe the main test they do is a porosity test. Thanks for the correction, sometimes when I'm typin at 300 wpm, I can't really type worth doo doo... "Fabric Permeability Test." is the correct response.... C So sell your reserve before it gets to be 20 years old.... What happens when or hits 20 years ???
  21. ACID test ?????? I am quite certain you mean a PULL test. a pH test is a only done on the drive slot mesh of some of the 80's rounds reserves (Phantoms, Pioneers, GQ's). Definitely not applicable to a PD reserve.
  22. Riggers should note and Inspection/Repacks after a ride on the data card. I have had people ask for a repack mid-cycle for various reasons (most of the time towards the 2nd half of the season, so they remain in date until the end of the year, and don't need to have the hassle around the holiday boogie season). Cypres2 did not introduce the jump counter feature until a number of years after the unit release so there's a good chance that your unit did not start counting the numbers up until after it's last service. Also, I cannot verify, but chances are the jump counters are reset during the 4/8 year service. Why make such a big deal of this ? Very few people are diligent in their logging, almost everyone guesstimates.
  23. Last I heard, our good buddy Tracy was a pilot @ Chattanooga Skydiving Company http://chattanoogaskydivingcompany.com/ He is NOT a skydiver, but is a commercial pilot.
