1. in a manner of speaking my ass. he is 100% correct. it's like i stated in a different post about a circle, not a straight line: far enough left=right. and all poiticians are inhently bad in this system we have in place. someone stated it beautifully when it was posted that special interests are tearing the govt. apart. there is no fix for the system, and this is because nobody is willing to give up any sort of creature comforts and live hard for a while. it was the pioneer spirit that made this country great and getting soft is ruining it. and it's not the little people who need to sacrifice, i don't know many who can live on less than $200 a week, but i know a lot who do that. anyone know of any fixes for the system? which may actually get implemented? i know of a bunch that will work, but we're talking about politicians here, and as long as there are lobbyists, nothing good can come of it. http://kitswv.com
2. this is yet another example that proves my theory that all politicians are bad for the country. first of all, you can't be one without being a lawyer first and this is inherently bad. second, the terms left and right are meaningless, it's a circle. when you go far enough left, you're going to encounter the right. http://kitswv.com
3. you can tell me how wrong i am all day long and it doesn't change the fact that until spanking was taken out of schools around 1983 or so in wv, that kids weren't shooting each other in school. that's a fact. it may not be the cause of it, but it cannot be changed by you or anyone else. and as to the statement you disagree with, i hold it to be true, and it isn't wrong several times within the sentence. you need to re-read it, they don't have a concept of cause and effect, only pain and pleasure until they're about 2 years old. i base this not on any studies, but simply on observation. you can get a study to say anything you want and support this with statiscs and "facts", i am basing my opinions on observations. if you were to believe scientific studies, then you'd stil think eggs are bad for you, no wait they're not anymore. or coffee is bad for you, no wait, not anymore. or flouride is good for you when added to drinking water, no wait it's not anymore. etc.... http://kitswv.com
4. http://southernoklahoma.com/schoolshootings/ from 1927 to 1985, only one of the shootings was enacted by a student under the age of 18. from 1987 to the present, most of the shootings were enacted by juveniles. and you can say that most parents you know don't need to hit their children to teach them consequences, and you can even believe it, but that doesn't make it true. up to a certain age, children don't have the concept of cause and effect, the only things they can respond to is positive and negative physical stimulus, or pain and pleasure. it's an instinctive reaction that helps propogate our species. http://kitswv.com
5. and i'm pretty sure that lack of discipline is exactly what causes things like school shootings. most parents don't teach their children consequences of their actions or any other values. since this society is so stuck on being non-ofensive to everything, nobody else teaches them anything. it really does take a village to raise a child, and as a village, we are all failing. miserably. http://kitswv.com
6. just another case where the government should get the f___ out of our business. back when i grew up and got spanked, even in school, there was no such thing as a school shooting. the teachers actually had some semblance of discipline and it was comparitively safe to go to school. http://kitswv.com
7. how so? how is it our business to tell other nations how they should treat their citizens? if i'm not mistaken, and i could be, the only times in history we've gotten involved in the affairs of state of others, it's been in opposition to communism, when the nations asked for assistance, the drug trade, or when it was detrimental to the oil supply. we had no involvement in pol pot's regime, the civil wars and general unrest in many african nations, or chinese repression, to name a few. these examples are all from the 20th centruy, and i do believe i'm pretty well versed in the history of us involvement in combat throughout history, in fact, when i was in the military(special forces), it was common discussion most of the time. and i am referring to the publically known involvement, not the clandestine operations. and another point about history: the winners usually write the history books, and all of the participants in any struggle claim that god is on their side. http://kitswv.com
8. i fail to see the logic in this. it seems to me that it's none of our business who is in charge of what country. i'm not an isolationist by any means, in fact i'm the opposite, i believe that we need to act more globally. however, until we start doing that, we should keep out of another sovereign nation's business. it seems to me that's no different than what we had historically when hitler thought everyone should be fascists. a little extreme, but similar in that one nation was forcing their views on everyone else. i mean isn't that why there are seperate nations? http://kitswv.com
9. it's been a while since i did a military jump, but i was looking at the pics and saw a reserve with the handle on the top of the reserve. when did they change this? i distinctly remember it being on the jumper's right side, not something you're likely to forget after 7 years in an airborne unit. http://kitswv.com
10. exactly my point. as i said, we need to scrap the system and start fresh with something that works. i noticed in this and some other posts people asking "what have you done to help", the answer is nothing unless you're a lobbyist with a lot of pull. we either need to get back to the system as it was originally intended or just sit here and take it. if i thought it were possible to overthrow the government, i'd volunteer for duty on the front line. http://kitswv.com
11. i read an article in esqure magazine a while back that referred to balancing the budget. it seems they took 6 guys(3 of each party with ties to government) and worked for three days with no lobbyists and no political pressure and had a plan to balance the budget within 2 years. they actually increased medicare benifits and if i remember correctly, decreased taxes for lower income tax brackets. it seems to me that if they can do that in three days, then someone needs to look at revamping the system we have in place. we as a nation have a responsibility, not just a right, to scrap this system if it's not working and institute a new one. period. http://kitswv.com
12. one thing the unemployment rate doesn't take into acount is actual unemployment. the numbers are people filing claims, not people who don't have jobs. i know at least a couple of people who've ran out of benefits, and at least one ineligible. a lot of people i know only qulify for less than $150 a week so they don't bother to file. http://kitswv.com
13. what was franklin's famous quote about safety? anyone? and jefferson's quote about outlawing fire because it may burn or water because it may drown you? and the thing i hate about reading these forums(besides some of the opinions expressed, which is ok, they are opinions) is when someone feels he has to put the text that he is replying to in a quote. stop it already, i've read the one before yours, i don't need to read it 32 more times!! this to me is asinine and i've been using it as a guage of intelligence of the users who do this. it just seems stupid to me, but that too is an opinion. http://kitswv.com
14. i have to say that when we start ignoring the laws we have in place and shooting unarmed people for making a "threatening gesture", then we are the same as the terrorists we are hunting. end of story, no argument there. when you ignore one rule in one case, it only gets easier the next time. i didn't like the guy, or agree with anything he said, but that doesn't give me the right to kill him. we'll never know what really happened. and it's a lot easier to second guess the results of this operationwith all of the time in the world to form an opinion. that's not how these types of things go down, however. without inside knowledge we'll never have, there is no way to logically make the determination that anything happened that was not supposed to happen. they could have been ordered to kill him. http://kitswv.com
15. i may be interested, what would you like it to do? http://kitswv.com
16. i've been saying this for years. if we held to traditions for their sake, we'd(some of us) would be allowed to own others. most of us wouldn't be allowed to vote, etc... i went to combat twice under the oath to protect and defend the constitution, and in my eyes(because they're as open as my mind) every legal citizen of this country should have the same rights as every other one, until their actions provide the basis for the loss of those rights. pipe dream? maybe, but it's getting better, right? http://kitswv.com
17. love the flamingos, i had them in every house i owned, it was an sf thing from a deployment, the ex hated them. here is my yule log, haven't had one for a couple of years but i love it. http://kitswv.com
18. the use of thermal imaging to find a grow operation should be illegal due to the fact that indoor growing is not illegal, indoor growing of pot is. thermal imaging can't distinguish what you're growing. and talk about illegal, whatever happened to posse commitatus(sp)? they're using the military to search and destroy pot grows, and nobody is up in arms about this why? http://kitswv.com
19. the way i heard it, the ring around the posey was the red ring around the sores that were caused by the plague, and the ashes ashes part was because they put a cross on their head with their fingers dipped in ashes to ward off the plague, and the all fall down part was everyone dieing (sp?) because it didn't work. almost all of our popular fairy tales are based on the scary stories that parents used to tell children to get them to listen to them. not so bad when you consider that until the mid 1800's or so, people used to consider children miniature adults. http://kitswv.com
20. one thing i gotta mention is for a newer jumper, f111 is so much easier to get familiar packing with. i learned how to pack my 220 raider and then i tried a zp(can't remember what) and wow. tried 3 times before i gave up, i wasn't jumping it, just packing. something to think about. and also, anyone considering base, a 7 cell f111 is the way to go for a first rig. http://kitswv.com
21. i know why you giglled, same reason as i'm wiping the tears from my eyes now, it's fucking hilarious. http://kitswv.com
22. i hate youtube, watched the video of the turkey and 35 minutes later i'm watching this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqhqexbt3i0&NR=1] http://kitswv.com
23. hope it's not a boot sector virus, i'm not sure if that would cause those symptoms with the startup or not, kinda sounds like it could be. to get rid of this you have to do a low level format of your hard drive and flash the bios. i wouldn't recomend this unless you are prepared to trash the computer, cause if you screw it up, it's a paperweight. of course, i'd do it to mine, but i've been known to screw up pretty good sometimes. i got 2 desktops sitting on my kitchen table and a laptop in the bedroom that i'm not prepared to give up on just yet.... http://kitswv.com
24. i saw a video on youtube of a girl going through the screening wearing a bikini. " http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBANCgZvreQ" tried 3 times, still no clicky http://kitswv.com
25. "They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." ben franklin still rings true after 250+ years http://kitswv.com
