  1. For a tandem isnt the Cypres2 set to 2000 foot? It sounds like it actually fired at 900 ' while the tandem pair were under canopy. Thats plain scary And to the OP// more info needed on this vigil incident...Like jumper name, DZ etc otherwise no one can collaborate it
  2. and on a stilletto as well sounds like a sure recipe for the fracture clinic in the near future (at best)
  3. Mighty ewarrior'ish talk..... I beg to disagree Lloyd. Using flash is the first mistake if the OP wants this to rank in any of the search engines. secondly, there is not even a page title for the homepage or andy meta information. Thirdly, the other content on the site will probably not get indexed as its not on seperate URLs....
  4. Firstly I would say 'Have you discussed this with your instructors and DZO' as it is information most would want to be notified of. They can also advise you as to what is safe and what isnt safe!! but I would advise you wear a high quality shoulder sports support as a preventative measure in any case. Does it dislocate of its own free will? In the couple of hard openings I have had, it was mainly my neck that gave me pain afterwards. That and the massive bruising around groin and shoulders from the harness biting in. Oh, and a headache for about 2 days Which shoulder of yours is the weak side?
  5. I fully sympathise with crashtested......and can see precisely why he is complaining. Its all good and well saying 'cancel the order' but they probably told him, just another month or two more, meaning the time was draggged out to the point of being in a situation of 'sod it, I may as well just wait now, its been a year already' I for one have always avoided PDF gear on the advice of other people who have suffered with long long waits. Its a shame, because some of their products are exquisite. but if their customer service is this bad, it just doesnt balance out to being worth it.
  6. With respect, a 190zp canopy for any student doesnt sound sensible.. baksteen -I have seen lightweight students under 220 furys like you say or at smallest a navigator 200.
  7. WTF Id like to see her try and stop me getting my main from her property
  8. Yes, but as far as I am aware no one has that on video (thankfully)
  9. No, because Lutz still maintains that he did nothing wrong. True. Can anyone else not see any distortion of his canopy in the video? I cant see the pilot chute anywhere near his lines...!?
  10. indeed! I think his reserve must have snagged on the trees as he fell through them , or he landed in a peat bog which broke his fall. Otherwise he would be toast for sure.
  11. Nearly fell off my chair when I saw this! he is one lucky guy Skip to 1 minute in to get to the start of the action.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-E1dzP9fD4 I searched the forum but couldnt find the link so hope its not a repost. If it is, its worth seeing again!
  12. I'm sure there are. Unfortunately there are also people who send in for awards that haven't earned them. Bingo Last i heard Craig Girard from Arizona Airspeed had something like 24,000 descents. However in some cases (not the above one) I am very cynical about claimed jump numbers (as its easy to bump them with the help of a few friends) so I am very wary of massive jump number 'claims' by people as usually the ones who are genuine dont do a song and dance about it.
  13. Max wingloading on most student programs is 0,7 Dont forget, its not just the size of the main canopy, but also the size of the RESERVE that is in that rig as well.
  14. So... let me understand this,.... They are waiting until Bill Booth works out some modifications to the skyhook (i thought he already had soon after the tandem incident), so they can then copy them and start shipping their own skyhook replica, the DRX? Or am I way off course...?
  15. Thats strange that they didnt all fire. Were they all being used at the same DZ (elevation)? I wonder if air pressure differential had anything to do with it,...I would doubt it in the car but who knows
  16. Believe this, at 2000 ft without a good canopy above your head, things happen REAL fast... RSLs have saved many more lives than they have taken. Dont try and second guess EPs you dont fully understand (clearly). Speak to your instructors. Get more training. Jump In that order.
  17. start over! Its not in good condition after its been matted into a dreadlock for a few years...
  18. Clearly. Do you tuck it under your helmet as well? Sounds like a similar issue with you both having large appendages (on the head.)
  19. Agreed!! Great work so far Dale. Down to 1 instructor as well
  20. Great advice. Its a bit like buying an FS suit thats a bit too small , because someone plans to lose some weight so it fits fine ergo - not a great plan so buy a helmet for what you need now...
  21. CRW and Freefly can be done safely if done by competent persons... but I would agree, incidents in this sport are largely down to human error. Though you cant take the risk completely out of skydiving. no matter how you justify it. Sometimes, sh*t just happens.... and to the safest people as well.
  22. Rubbish!!! Dont give up. A guy recently came through a DZ I visit sometimes (UK)to do AFF and he has Type 1 diabetes, insulin dependant. he is over 40 and his own GP signed him off as fit to skydive. Basically, if you have not had any 'episodes' (as in where you pass out or go hypo or hyper iirc??) in the last 3 years or so then a friendly doctor should sign you off. You could even pay for a consultation with a private doctor (an aviation doc) who will assess you and sign you off more happily than your average whuffo GP who thinks 'plunging to the earth' is a sure fire way to die etc etc yada yada yada
