  1. Two stage flare probably isnt the best thing to be advising on an F111 student canpopy...! I know from the ones I jumped they had to be flared in one positive motion or else they 'lost' their flare power and you struck terra firma quite hard!
  2. A 190 would be inappropriate prior to the 300 jump mark and not legal to jump in some countries with the original poster's experience level. 210 200 jumps. A 230 would be a fine starting point on which to learn skills like flat turns, flare turns, down-wind landings, and cross-wind landings since you need those skills to save your life (or at least bones). http://www.bigairsportz.com/pdf/bas-sizingchart.pdf Bingo! A 190 would put him at almost 1.4 wing loading when exit weight is used. A dangerous combination for sub 300 jumps
  3. Crime is not down! Its SPIN on the figures. Violent crime is up massively according to a good article I read the other day
  4. As many as you and your instructors feel comfortable with.. As many as the weather will allow. Its not a race so just enjoy the journey.....
  5. Looked superb Dale Congrats mate. Did look a bit chilly as well
  6. hey jennifer It sounds like you did really well! to maintain composure and PULL for yourself says a huge amount, as others have said. Is there a wind tunnel anywhere near you? If so you would greatly benefit from even 10 or 15 minutes in there..... But many many people have had issues on level 4 with spins and not gone to the tunnel and passed AFF just fine! keep with it and you will get there
  7. lol At least he had the guts to ask you...!!! Even if he had no chance, I salute him
  8. Nice video Rhys. That spin looked like it was working up some reall speed! Shame you didnt get the micro raven landing on video as well
  9. No there is no difference, except if you're comparing a xbraced vs. square or the canopy is small, like something at or below 100 sq. ft. **Asking a question like this is just asking to wake up the Dorkzone canopy geeks and be forced to listen to a 1 page theory. Yes there is... If one is a 7 cell such as a spectre or a triathlon, and the other a nine cell like a Silhouette. The 7 cell has a steeper glide angle and the 9 cell a less steep one but often more forward speed IME. Similar canopy sizes of course
  10. Well done on doing your first skydive It seems like you enjoyed it....! Thats also great news that an AFF instructor at the DZ will take you on. As above, read this http://www.jagworksdesign.com/html/Para%20skydive%20manual.htm You could print out the zip file contents and send it to the AFFi, or go and visit him and discuss it. Get some email contacts of people on here that are listed above... get in touch with them It all depends how much you want it, but it can be done.. time is a thing that is short for all of us!!! pm username distabled on here (Dale Elliott). Im sure he will offer you some advice
  11. I nearly spilt my cup of coffee when I read this ALso... Does anyone know if Javelin containers are lifed?
  12. Having a rig on would give you more of a chance than no rig like all of the passengers on that flight... Jet pilots eject into very fast air streams sometimes.. and often live to tell the tale...
  13. No, The hip rings should be over the hip bone. They are no where near and the MLW is clearly too short, hence this is 'pulling the rig up her thighs too much. Refit is the only solution IMHO
  14. Superb write up Drew Very good description of the dangers and inevitabilites of aggressive downsizing.... ps// dont feed the troll guys
  15. A nice writeup Chris. Good luck with the music and may you treasure the memories you got from the sport and maybe one day when things have changed the skies will call you again.....
  16. Good one Jennifer!!! You will love it
  17. No, your right. The gear and rigging section is the place to get some idea of value. The classifieds section is the place to put and advert once you know its value...
  18. Like being able to see handles easily. So instructors can watch the students facial expressions and eyes (and make eye contact) Less things to think about when under canopy. Using radios and a lots more Im sure
  19. Ummm....yes, it does!! Its just as vile a word in the UK as it seems to be stateside. And refers to the same genitalia as it does over there.
  20. Im guessing it was because you had your legs wide apart and feet up your butt The feet up your butt bit would make you backslide across the tunnel. Im guessing that although he said straighten your legs, in fact they werent straight, but were pushing into the airflow somewhat meaning you stopped backsliding. Hopefully some tunnel coach will comment on this, but without video its next to impossible to give the exact reason....
